hmm...didn't play Ice Queen, eh? Must've forgot.

man...I don't know how he (they) do it?!?!?

I am a musician, and as cool as that song list is, I would've gone out of my skull a long, long time ago playing that same set over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and....

We, the faithful, deserve more! (stated humbly)
Yet, we the faithful remain grateful that the MASTER is still touring AT ALL!!

Hey Stratmagoo - alright you convinced me...I have been doing some thinking and I'll keep the cab for now. I originally made a pact with myself to sell the black one as the most recent one matches my other 1974 cab except(figuring three is too much. I hope the floor doesn't cave!LOL I knew I could run it stereo with my rack gear- should be unreal when programmed). Did I mention this already? The recent one is quite rare with 30wt Celestions! I am going to first attempt the double delay and ADA post-amp then, if need be, try a Motion Sound unit (they have a couple guitar appropriate units- this is getting a little costly). The later I have to conceptualize how I would run it. Until then, my room is very busy. BTW, the last time I saw Trower he was using the same cabinets he used the previous time I saw him that he told me had 30watters in them - white tolex and a brown hue to the grille cloth.

Good Morning all Hammerheads, Kim here. Whats up in PT land? Oh yes Mr. Stratmagoo I of course caught Vai with Nelly and LOVED IT, there isn't ANYTHING that VAI does that I don't love!!!. Very crisp, soft and Nellys voice is awesome. He will be releasing a DVD very soon, that will be killer. Got the chance to watch some of the new Joe Satriani DVD the other day, it is awesome!!! Aren't DVDs the best? ok Back to our wonderful PT, I was the same way with "Don't feed the Alligators" at first, had to play it alot and then it clicked in. Now I love it, esp. Spanish Moon, I love you more than you'll ever know and Don't change Horses. Wew!! and anything with Robin Zander you know is going to be excellent. That man has a wonderful voice. Hope my babbling finds everyone happy and healthy!!Rock on all, and jam the PT until your ears ring!!!!:) Have a great Saturday and remember if your gonna drink, get drunk!!!Then crawl home or cab it. Life is good.

Hey 50MKII...here's another thought...keep that 3rd cab and run the other two in stereo. Then run a Leslie (or simulator) through the 3rd cab? Sound similar to somebody else's setup??? Or use it as your personal side fill monitor...Just don't sell it. You'll end up regretting it, you know you will!

Howdy to ya 50MKII...Sorry to see you part with the Marshall cab. It's always a loss when you part with gear. I've been down that road before, only to replace the very same gear I sold a few years earlier! Can't help you on the speaker glue...might wanna try Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum...After it dries it's as durable as duct tape and twice as tasty!!! Maybe drop an inquiry email to Celestion speakers?

Where's "Brianmaybe"? And Beseau, I know how you love cover tunes...Have either of you heard the latest Queen Tribute release called "Stone Cold Queen"? Try this on for size...Robin Zander and Steve Stevens doing "Stone Cold Crazy"...Glenn Hughes and Pat Thrall doing "Killer Queen"...Kip Winger and Steve Lukather doing "I'm In Love With My Car"...Geoff Tate doing "Need Somebody To Love"...Jack Blades and Jake E. Lee doing "Fight From The Inside"...Check it out! Sorry...No appearances by Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert or Buckethead.....But still a great tribute CD....It's on Triage Records licensed under Shrapnel/Blues Bureau Records.

Hey Hooked On PT and Specksmagoo (My long lost cousin???). Maybe the deal with "Feeding Alligators" is the production? It just doesn't SOUND like a typical PT release. Play it alongside a Polydor PT release and you'll see what I mean. I think for this release Pat focused on playing some of HIS OWN favorite songs and THAT was the deciding factor (or contractual obligations?)...Not to rock out with his c@*k out, but to play songs he personally enjoys. If you listen to it on those terms it's a little more digestible...I like it for what it is, but it's certainly not my own personable favorite. For me, gimme the "Go For What You Know" or "Putting It Straight" or "Radio Active" releases...I also think the "live" tracks on the end of "Best Of The Blues Plus Live!" abso-friggin'-lutely smoke, and are greatly underrated...."On, Dog!" as PT sez...

And as always...PTB is King!

Alright PT gearheads and guitarists - While I'm having a hard time letting go of this thought or succuming to this realization, I am going to be selling my Marshall 4x12 25wt cabinet exactly like the one in the background on PT's BBC Live CD (checkered black grille cloth, larger Marshall logo). This is a RARE cabinet, trust me. I recently purchased another original Marshall 4x12 that matches my other one - the two are actually within a year or so apart! Three cabinets is just one too many. This cabinet sounds great! Email me if interested before I put it up on ebay - I'm not going to just let it go though.

Stratmagoo - very well put with that last post - Puttin' It Straight, you could say. Would you know what type of glue is used on the magnet covers to Celestion speakers? One of the covers to my new cab fell off on its way being shipped over from the UK.

Cindy - haven't heard from you for some time. I'll be posting you after I get off here so check your box

Hey, this one is cool Ed...and this one and alright, I'm just taking up space here. Keep up the good work Ed!

Hey, Specks...that's cool. It's great that Pat tries different things. Like I said, there's a couple of tracks on Alligators I like(Black Friday, the Tull and ZZ covers come to mind), but for the most part, for me understand, it just doesn't capture the essence of Pat. I didn't feel like he "kicked my ass" on that one. Where as on Lookin' up, he kicks it from start to end - just something about that power in Ice Queen that shivers my timbers, ya know?

Every artist knows everything they do is not going to appeal to every fan, but we know he needs to stretch - it only leads to good things in the long run.

And it is those efforts that make us appreciate him all the more and that's what keeps us...

Well said Hooked. You put my feelings into words here. I have to disagree with you about
"Alligators" though. I really like that disc. "Black Friday", "Spanish Moon", "Freedom", "I Love You More Then You'll Ever Know" are awesome covers. "Lookin Up" is the 2nd most played P.T. disc around my crib.

Indy was a great show for the guys. Minus a broken string during "The Pain" sound was super and the nearly 1000 in attendance were into the show. Pat seemed very pleased.

As someone mentioned, Tuesday was Elijah's 6th B-Day and Pat had everyone sing Happy Birthday through this cell phone..Good Stuff.

The same set, but he was getting off so much on the crowd and it being Elijah's Birthday, all was rocking.

Talked to Rick afterwards and the live Cd is indeed on hold, since Scrapnel may put it out.
They were also recording the show in Indy.

After the show there were several hundred people in line to meet the guys. It did my heart good to see PT get his just desserts, at least for 1 night anyhow. Let's all pray this will continue.

First Freddy, I am not a slut! I get paid for it and rather handsomely if you know what I mean! Also, why are you reading into what I was trying to express! Case and point...when Kiss did not have the original drummer it was not the same. When Bruce Kulick was playing guitar it was not the same. What I am saying is through all of the personnel changes over the years, it would be refreshing to see Pat play with Tommy or even Nico again with Mars and Jerry. What the hell is wrong with that? Also to slam me just shows that your debating skills are lacking...I am sure there are others on this page who would love to see Tommy, Mars, and Jerry together again for a reunion! Take that in the spirit it was intended. Oh, I charge around 2K for a date!!

But the new Gatway will be here within a couple of weeks!!! It's great making new friends!!

Won't be able to do much until the new PC gets here and I get it set up.

E-mails can once again be answered and all promised CD burns can take place as soon as the UPS guy drops off the new PC.

Lindsey, you ignorant slut! SNL. I knew that Eric and Rick were playing tonight and because I saw them last year, I couldn't wait to hear and to feel the energy from their show. It's my 8th time seeing Pat and what comes out when they all play is music and art. Open up your mind... They play with respect to the previous players, and add their own flavor. Both times I've seen Eric and Rick play, it's the same reaction from old fans and new ones. It's a great team, period.
They also signed anything that was brought to them. Wow, they're real people too. Can't beat that. Next time you go see them, look at them, they play from the heart.
Great show guys. Come back soon!

Okay, I can shed a little light here ... I think. Pat supports his wife and not the other way around. I think Pat is really busy with the Voices of Classic Rock gig right now. It takes him around the world and I'm sure it pays the bills on a regular basis. However the regular PTB stuff suffers for it. Now don't get me wrong. I love Pat and truly wish him all the best. His shows are right next to heaven!! The band is tight and really could do no better with what they play. That being said... I really dislike what I have heard of the VOCR thing. First off the whole thing seems a little corny to me. You get a bunch of musicians playing each others work when normally they don't. Who cares? I MIGHT go to a show for free just to see Pat and Glenn Hughes. The rest of them... ehhh. Anyway it's my humble opinion that there is nothing wrong and a hell of a lot right with the current band members. Pat should be ( and I'm sure he is) honored to be among such talented nice people. To be honest I don't think his his current status (or the lack there of) as a touring "major" act has anything to do with anything except Pat himself being busy with other stuff. You know it's really not fair for us to judge him. Itis his life. I'm just grateful he is still playing AND touring. Someday (soon I hope) I (and a lot of other freinds and PT family) will wake up to a morning where we here about our favorite rocker gearing up for something new and exciting. We are just jaded. We get Filet Mignon all the time and we complain about not getting fish too. Funny bunch aren't we? Well that's life! Peace out and keep smiling. Rich

That set mentioned a couple posts below is almost identical to the Sonic Fish concert recorded about a year ago...you are right Ginbel..this is hard to figure out. But, I am convinced that sticking to a "canned" setlist is easier and less of a risk than trying to deviate from the norm. But, I am too happy that he is still touring...I have to say that money is probably driving some of the negotiations. I would say that unless a record company can make a fairly stellar profit, they will not sign an artist..especially an older one with a loyal but limited fan base. I am not sure what is going on, but I would have to say that Pat is mostly doing his music now for a hobby and not totally relying on it to make a living. I may be wrong, but I will bet anyone that his wife is bringing home most of the bacon...she is really doing all of us a great favor by doing so as it allows Pat to do his thing! I would like to see another blues album like the one released in 92...I believe his first! I think that the projects like Glenn Hughes, Derek St Holmes, and others have probably affected Pat in a somewhat negative manner. I think that some promises were made that probably were not kept and that they were into the nostalgia thing...not necessarily trying to rejuvinate Pat's career... Also, I think Pat should be playing with people who can stoke his career. No offense to his current band, but I feel he should be playing with Tommy Aldridge again, possibly Mars, and Pat Thrall if he wants to do a true reunion...and really increase ticket sales...I think most of you would agree that that lineup would sell...again, please do not misunderstand me...the players he is currently using are great...but the other lineup is something I would go way out of my way to see!!

God only knows about the new release! Don't hold your breath. I have blocked it out of my mind and wrote it off as not happening. The new DVD production for the Universal shows is out(not happening) also. Not sure what happened. Pat was supposed to get permission from Universal and that's the last we heard. Damn shame too! Professional two camera shot and some ultra killer DVD only specials. We were set to produce something that could easily be shown on VH-1. It is AMAZING what you can do now on an interactive DVD!! With that type of quality and the support of his loyal fans, we had hoped to get it actually sold in the regular music stores across the states and eventually world wide. Pat is a hard bird to figure out. Well, it's his life and he is entitled to lead it as he choses fit. Kinda odd to most of us though. I feel bad for Rick and Eric though. They are ripping and ready to go!!!! If it was me.... oh well it's not. We ARE still producing other CDs and DVDs and now that we are back on track we will continue to work on them. Thanx for the patience of everyone who has a hand in the whole thing. We are ACTUALLY working!! So let me get back to it. We are psyched to see the guys in Florida!! I'm praying they change the set list by at least ONE song.

Posted on Friday, March 08, 2002 - 11:08 am:

Hey BG, once again you've hit the mark. I find your knowledge of this crazy music industry refreshing, as there are too many who have no clue how the "machine" is oiled. Kiss, Aerosmith, Santana (as well as a long list of others) all have had a "revival" of sorts with their respective careers, but at a compromise to their original vision. Nobody ever seems to be able to recapture the original fire and flair of their earlier hungry years. That fire, determination, hunger, etc. that drives most bands/musicians seems to lose "something" after their initial successes. That's why they bring in the outside writers (Diane Warren, Jim Vallance, Desmond Child, etc.)to help them write new, more contemporary tunes. They've lost that "magical something". Very few bands are able to maintain such a strong presence and validity through the changing climates of musical genres that seem to change literally every 5 years (or less!). It has nothing to do with talent, authenticity, uniqueness, or anything else. The masses will always want something "new" to listen to, no matter what's popular at the time. Just go ask any unemployed 80's guitar shredder (sorry F*HEAD!), or The New Kids On The Block, or Tiffany, or 90's grunge band, or Duran Duran, or....the list is endless. Or in 5 years, ask N'SYNC, Brittany, Kid Rock, or any of the "new breed" of rockers such as Staind, Puddle Of Mudd, Creed, etc. And I'm not slamming these current "hot artists". I even like a few of the bands, but that's just the nature of the industry. Chris Rock stated it best regarding the perils of the fleeting speed of fame with his quote "Here today, gone today!" (As opposed to "Here today, gone tomorrow"). What does all this have to do with how I feel about the mighty PTB? Absolutely nothing! To me, his playing still hits a mark with me. Famous or not. Loved his music then, love it now, and always will....

And $2,000 for a date???? Lindsey, your posts suggest that you are very articulate, and I'm sure if you were being serious about the "fees" for a date, then you must be very attractive. But for that kind of money you better have some DAMN SPECIAL "talents" to warrant that kind of fee....
Makes my mind swirl....Where've you been all my life honey???

By the way I was just messing around. I think Aerosmith is the best rock band out there. No one can even come close to touching what they have done! They have been together with all the same members for almost 30 years and they are still fantastic in concert! The Stones have been around longer, but I think they suck. Of course Joe Perry isn't as entertaining to me as Pat. One more thing I think you have to take in to account. Pat has always been more or less a blues player. Blues in general does not have all the popularity that rock does.

Oh great, now this is a dating service! Seriously, Lindsey has a point which is well taken. From a booking/promotion standpoint, the original lineup of Thrall, Cowling, and Aldridge would definitely help ticket sales. This applies to original lineups in any band. Whether that's important to Pat's current fans, who knows?
I believe that Pat's current drummer and bassist don't have to take a back seat to anyone, and I'm sure that his fans agree.

It's much easier said than done to keep reinventing yourself to attract younger fans. Very few bands succeed at this. Kiss did it. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were brilliant in the business end of things. He may spit blood, but under all of that is a corporate CEO mentality.
Aerosmith revived themselves in the eighties - but it took a new producer and bringing in outside writers like Desmond Child and Diane Warren. Santana gained a new audience with "Smooth". Rob Thomas' song and vocal on that track took Santana to the top again. Did Santana develop this business strategy? No, it was Clive Davis! But these success stories are few and far between.

lindsay honey, you really need to get a clue on this one, Pat travers was rockstar status probably before you were born, he was headlining shows with aerosmith years ago. these new bands are not very impresssive they play and do what the big record machine says to. there are not too many "new guitarists that could even carry pat's guitar case. Pat does about what he wants to do and always has. he is still alive and well.

Uhhhh..... Ummmmm.... Actually gREG is correct in regards to Pat's touring schedule! It's brutal at times, but he does it and with excellence! I am also 40, but am hardly a drunk and niether is gREG, nor Pat. Bear in mind Greg is a little whacky. Okay, a LOT whacky, but he's alright. We just yank his chain and say "DOWN BOY!" (LOL). Not to worry Linsdey, you are in good company here. We are all a little crazy here, but harmless(especially gREG!). I agree it would be cool to see that line up. As far as I know though Mars doesn't even play. Kind of a shame. That line up was just one of several Pat has had. It remains "The Pat Travers Band". By the way welcome aboard! You'll actually find some friends and cool people on this board.

Come on gREG - are you a trademark or something I thought the first letter in a name was capitalized..oh, cOL sANDERS! I seriously doubt Pat has done 15 shows a month for quite a while...especially at 5K apiece (even so, I am sure the money is split between many, many, people...come on..do the IRS math) First and foremost, unless he has an accountant that cheats the govt, then Pat does not make the kind of money you profess he does. Also, what makes you an authority on who plays with him and who does not? Also, your opinions about who is the music and who is not are subjective and bear great scrutiny. Are you saying that Pat would draw an equal amount or even less if Tommy or Mars rejoined him? When 40 year olds plus drink (actually anyone), they tend to overrate performances. I remember a band saying "the more you drink/smoke the better we sound .. always". So lets assume that you are a 40 year old who drinks way too much..that is what Pat is counting on.. As I see it, he must laugh all the way to the bank when old guys come to shows...but he ought to consider younger crowds too..which to my knowledge are not part of his crowd. Again, let me qualify this by saying that he does not care what you think about me nor do I. To insult me is to show that you are really a 40 year old + adolescent that has never transcended the drink and drug induced 70s scene...although from what I gather from the posts, you are trying to grow out of it. That is why PT plays the same sets over and over and over again as Ginbel, his current manager knows well - he knows you guys will pay...and that is what he expects. How long can he ride the train? As long as he has 40 + adolescent fans such as you, he will laugh all the way to the bank and rehash the same ol stuff...Aerosmith grew with the times...and did not sell out (by the way, they are driving or could afford Diablos)...They have more fans in one town than Pat Travers has in the whole world...and he is aware of that...that is why the VOCR is so interesting to him - he may achieve that rock star status that he really desires..as does everyone that plays for people..even if they won't admit it. I say he should throw a couple Britney, Ricky Martin, and Kid Rock songs into the mix...not necessarily theirs, but newer stuff. Attract new fans..that is the key..not old farts...but honestly, I still like you old guys!! 2K may purchase a date with me - if you are cute...So before you attack my pinions...consider that everyone does not share yours - Greg.

Hi Lindsey:
Congratulations on your romp with Mr. Ed - I hope you gave him some hay for his efforts -

I agree with Ginbel regarding Aerosmith. Besides retaining the original members all these years, they simply have great songs, no matter what the source.

As always, I agree with Strat. Most bands do lose their edge as time progresses. Alot of debut releases are killer. That's because they've had their whole loves to come up with the material. When a record company gives them a year or two to come up with the second release - well you've all heard it, the "sophomore slump"!
That's why the Beatles will live on to infinity.
Every song was great and their talents were one in a million. They got better over time.
There are good bands out there now. I actually heard a Kid Rock tune that I liked. But I liked it because it reminded me of Lynyrd Skynrd.
Creed is a talented band and I hear they kick ass live. Trends do come and go (and I hope the boy bands go away)but a great song will live on.

Strat - Thanks for the info. Helps to see it repeated again. The same equipment described in the '80 Guitar Player article. The difference being: the exact leslie-type unit wasn't disclosed and power attenuator left out or not used then. PT even confirmed that he had been using this setup for the last 2 years in the article. I cannot imagine those who would think PT used an overdrive or sustaining device. That was always pretty clear to me - straight Gibson with fairly hot pu's to Marshall. The only other unit possibly contributing to distortion would be the blue box at certain settings (don't own one so maybe you have a better idea than I do here). The MXR Phasers all tend to screw with your tone disengaged or not - you lose some high end. STILL... you cannot run your line from out of the Marshall and into those echoplexes without a load device. [Side thought: Did the Altair attenuator have a load feature too? I'll have to look into this.] Confounded again Batman! Nevertheless, this has all helped quite a bit. If interested, I'll let you know what my results are when tested. My friend is also looking into Leslie-type units. I get back my VHT power amp in a couple days. So, once I get to feeling better (doc sentenced me to 6 more weeks of this cold/flu I have! 1 week and boxes of Kleenex after.) I'll continue on with my pursuit. Until then...stratty and PRS will just have to stay sleeping in their beds.

My apologies to non-players. Was never that exposed to PT until the recent Blues-Rock CDs. My drummer turned me on to "Life in London". I'm trying to learn it; the basics are pretty obvious, but there's some tricky stuff in there I'm having trouble with. Anybody out there who's unraveled this one? It's a great tune but I'm just not getting the details. The rhythm switches are tricky as heck and I think its changing major to minor.

Trust me 50MKII...I certainly know better! I also know that the Strats, Les Pauls, PRSs, etc. tend to hang around a lot longer than most women do! A $2,000 "job" or "evening" had better not only blow my mind, but well, er......oh never mind.

On another note for you 50...I was re-reading a PT presskit I have for the "Heat In The Street" release and it had an equiptment list of what he was using at that time. Here goes: 50wt Marshall, 100wt Marshall, 4 4x12 Marshall cabs, Leslie 122 organ speaker, Cry Baby wah, MXR phase 100, MXR Blue Box, ADA flanger, 2 Maestro echoplexes, Hammond B-3 organ, 2 ARP Odyssey synthesizers. Guitars at that time were his Gibson Melody Maker, Gibson Les Paul Jr., Fender Tele Custom. It also went on to state that Pat used no distortion or sustaining devices.

For you curious folks, Pat Thrall used 2 Fender Strats, 1 with tremolo, 2 100wt Marshall stacks, 1 Mesa Boogie amp, ADA flanger and overdrive unit, 2 Maestro echoplexes. (I'm not aware of ADA having an overdrive unit. I'm just typing the list as it's stated on the presskit)

Mars used 1 Fender Precision, 1 Dan Armstrong Ampeg plexiglass, 2 Ampeg SVT amps, 4 8x10 bass enclosures/cabs, 1 set of Moog Taurus bass pedals.

Tommy Aldridge used Sonor drums and Avedis Zildjian cymbals.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey Walter! I have an idea of the track listing, but I think they might be going back in to change some things. I am not really sure though. I also am not at liberty to discuss the contents of the CD. For one thing I can't remember all the tracks on it. In spite of how it might seem, I am not aware of a lot that goes on. So I have no real clue why it has not been released. I suspect Pat is holding out for a great record deal, but like I said I am not really sure. When I get to talk to Pat we do not discuss music too much beleive it or not. Pat is his own man. He does what he wants, when he wants. As I have said before, I am just being supportive. I am very busy on a lot of other things and try to make the PTB thing just a part of my life, not my entire life. On another front.... just caught a show by the Tom Larsen Band. These guys are a blues/funk band from the eastern shore area. They are one of those bands that just never really were popular, but they are extremely good! If anyone is interested in sampling some send me a CDR and I'll make you a copy or you can go to www.tomlarsenband.com I am not really trying to promote this guy, just thought your ears might need something new.

Hello, I am going to attempt to extrapolate some info that I should probably just keep to myself..Last night I was with a man called horse! This guy was hung like a Burma Bull!! But, he tried to get a price break which I emphatically tried to refuse..then he showed the "horse" and I was amazed! I have been doing this (and seeing the PT band) for many years, but I have never experienced this...for all you ladies who says that size does not matter...try one...I was in heaven..!!!!

Anyway, I am trying to recover from last nite (I hope he calls me again).. Greg, I apologize for the way I approached your rebuttal to my comments.... Hopefully, you will forgive me. Also, Ginbel, I did not realize that you were not PTs manager...again, sorry. Thanks for the heads up on the new CD...I am also a Priest, Ozzy, and 4 out of 5 Doctors Fan...(Old show that backed up Pat and Ritchie at the Salt Palace in SLC).

the rocker is called "Coming up the hard way" I am going to beg Pat to let us include it on a new release. He doesn't really like the song that much. That's hilarious as we think it's great. Actually there have been a LOT of hits that the artists thought sucked and it put the bands in the spot light. Go figure. Wish us luck. I'll have an answer in a few weeks. I couldn't AGREE more...this was the most intense PT line-up, and they could ever do a reunion, it would destroy!! I would go way out of my way to see!!

Dude... I have no idea what is going on. I and others have been bugging PT for months to no avail. Maybe whenever anyone goes to a show we can start chanting "new CD, new CD". Short of that there is nothing we can do. It is the "Pat Travers" band. Always was, always will be. The ONE thing I do know is the new CD sounds FANTASTIC!!!!! I have heard it plenty and really I am not in the know of all the details as to why this thing is not in your hands right now! Besides that CD Pat is sitting on some other incredible tracks. One song in particular is just about the best song he ever did! I think it would get some real serious airplay if it was released. Just one killer rock song! It has all the makings of a hit. It also sounds in keeping with modern styles of rock and I think it could seriously launch a come back. This of course is not up to me. Ask Pat. Seriously, I think if we all told him at the shows that we need something new he might listen... or not, but at least we can say we tried.

Hey Not Amused/T-
Nice mind. I was thinking the same thing. All of sudden it seemed like someone was taking advantage of the web addy for their escort service - i.e. free advertising. Oh,...and no, please do not put her on the cover of the next CD.! Remember: While PT likes women, PT'S GOT CLASS!! Let's keep it that way. No matter how attractive or otherwise one thinks she is.

I came up with a hairbrain idea for the cover. We've seen PT jamming in front of a coffin before (still a cool, strong, lingering image from yesteryear - I'd Rather See You Dead), standing in front of the door of a train, how'bout PT playing atop of the lead train on a locomotive freighttrain! Title:________ (your suggestion here)
OR
Maybe even PT in a cool, hot rodded, vehicle with an original PTB paint job dropping his kid(s) off to school while kids in the background look on bewildered. Title: _____________ (your suggestion here, but the title strat relayed could work here too.) Alright, I'll think a little about this but it's what I came up with on a moment's notice.

Hey folks, just had to come check out what's goin' on here, in light of the fun on Cindy's board! Eric, thank you for saying what needed to be said! Gives me a good idea of who I should (and shouldn't!) get involved with! Business is business, and shouldn't be made public, among other things!

Rich, you've got me drooling - all new studio CD, and live CD!! I emailed you through the Pat Travers Band Yahoo Groups, not sure if that worked, though. Let me know if you got it.

If Pat doesn't make a So Cal appearance before New Years, I may seriously have to try to make it to AZ!

Cheers!

Hey gREG! Rich and I hope to make it out to Tempe this New Year's. We'll finally get to chance to meet the 'west coast family' of the PTB clan! We can't wait! Wonder if any other northeastern PTB fans can make it out there. Maybe we can fly out together(party on da plane!!) What are room rates like out there,g? Or are you serious about your offer? Would Lisa mind having a group of rowdy fans staying at her home? Sorry no one from the west coast can make it to the Orlanda shows. We'll be in FL. for about 2 weeks, so we're not sure how many shows we'll go and see. John, are you going to be in Orlando next week at all? We'll be there by next Wed. and we'll have to give you a call. Did you already give Rich a phone number where you can be reached? uhmmmm....clothes optional in Orlando?! Wow! Then why am I worrying about what I'm going to pack?!! woohoooo! See ya soon, John,Kim, and all the PTB Boys!!! Kim, when's the BBQ and pool party?! I'm soooooo ready for this vacation! I need it desperately!!!!
Hope to see some of you hammerheads in Orlando, if not, then we'll get to see you out in Tempe!!

WOOHOO, I`ll be in Orlando this Thursday, Friday, and then the party moves over to Palm Harbor on Saturday! Yeah, I`m there 2! Hey Rich, bring down a extra "PT Solo" CD and I`ll steal it from ya. Heck, bring lotsa CD`s for the masses! Lookin' 4ward to meeting you and Nancy. Rick, Eric, Mitch and Kim, of Mitch and Kim fame,as well as Jule, of Jule fame, as well as Cindy, of Cindy fame, can pick me out of a line up. Major bummer about the City Walk people being so, as gREG, of gREG fame, would put it "anal", about recording this magnificent event on DVD. I`ve shot about a zillion pics on 35mm of da band and was hoping to do some motion stuff, kurses, foiled again!! If a few "amatuer" video camera`s found the way into the crowd, would the local management be the wizer? Well, at least I`ll bring lots of film and if youz guyzs smile and say "cheez", I`ll take yer pic! The weather has been pretty warm so I don`t know if you`ll need clothes or not. Bring clothes anyway in case things should chill in the evenings, you know, shrinkage and all. Aw right, enough foolishness here, time for me to talk foolishness elsewhere! Hope to C everyone in O-town, JH

We had a great time! Always a pleasure 2 C these guys! Only wish they could have played longer(this is not a complaint...just can't get enough!)
They did some of the PT classics and a couple of cover tunes including "Tied to the Whipping Post"
and a killer version of the CCR classic "Fortunate Son" featuring Eric on vocals.
Thank you Pat, Rick, and Eric!

People, I think we need to please give Mr Ginbel a break. He answers the same question regarding new releases several times a week. While he answers each inquiry very gracefully, it's got to make him crazy.

To review, here's what we've learned:
- Ginbel is not PT's manager, just a friend who cares
- Ginbel does not know when anything is coming out until PT tells him
- Ginbel is one lucky SOB because PT WILL tell him
- Ginbel is one lucky SOB because he's had opportunity it sample some of it.
- Ginbel gets to work on some of the stuff. He's made the mistake of telling us before when he thought something he was working on would be ready and it hasn't panned out. Do you think he's going to hang himself like that again? Be happy to there might be stuff someday.

Be happier to know that PT's already recorded a ton of stuff we can enjoy.

Be happiest to know that still...

Humbly submitted,
Bill

TeamoDave,

That's cool. Pat Torpey is definitely a good drummer.

By chance was Glen Sobel (drummer on Hocus Pocus Live) the drummer for Hoey, if that happens to ring a bell?

I have to apologize. I am new to this group on the PT board and it seems like some don't always use the same email posting name, so I have gotten a bit confused. Without a signature at the bottom of a posting I am lost! .....imagine that.

Hey 50MkII:
I haven't heard the Bogner amps yet, but they're supposed to be top of the line. They're also very expensive. But from what I hear, they're worth every penny. Let me know what you think.

Hey Strat:
Sunday night I did a gig in St. Pete, Fl. I called AJ's Ale House in Tampa afterwards to see if Bobby Friss' band was possibly playing there. I was told they were there the night before. Can you believe it? The search for Jerry Riggs continues.

Hey PDDRUMMZ,
I just saw Ronnie Montrose last Friday at Great America in Santa Clara, CA. One helluva show, that's for sure. He played everything off of the Montrose album except "I Don't Want It", 3 songs off Paper Money, a couple of new songs and a cover of "My Generation". The singer was a guy named Kevin St. James (a young Sammy clone except with black hair), on drums was Pat Torpey (Mr. Big) and I can't remember the bass players name but he was awesome. Ronnie had some technical problems with his rig for a bit, so the bass player and drummer did some extended solos. Anyway, hope this helped and if anyone knows who the bass player was, it's driving me nuts.

Hey pdrummz,

Montrose had a young man about in his mid 20's to early 30's, from what I could tell. I couldn't make out his name when Ronnie introduced him... that voice-to-mic concert problem that I usually have a problem with recognizing spoken words. Ronni's singer did a GOOD job of filling in for Hagar-era singing. IMO, a really good choice. Drummer for Montrose was Paul Torby. The drummer for Hoey...?? Uh, I cannot remember his name but think it's the same drummer he has used in the last 2+years, I could only identify him by face.

Posted on Monday, March 25, 2002 - 11:07 pm:

PT and PT fans,

I've been meaning to say this for some time....the timing seems right.
PT, while others are anxiously awaiting, if not feverishly pushing the release of a new CD from you, I would like to offer my full support to you on many accounts. First, YOU wait until YOU feel it's the right time and do what is best for yourself. Only you are capable of understanding what's the best possible timing and production for the next studio CD. Second, good CD's and many things in life take time to put together a vintage piece of work. The type of work that leaves people in awe for time to come, the type of work that deserves to be played time over and over over the years. Most of the greatest artists and musicians of ours and times past have only produced their best performances when they are good and ready not their companies or, dare I say it, even their fans. Montrose was recently interviewed saying that Gamma broke up for this very same reason - the company was pressuring them to come out with a "hit single" (crazy people). They have to be in-to-it before it carries on that unmistakeable quality of personal greatness (just think of your "boss" and you'll know what I mean). Jeff Beck only tours occassionally ( when he is good and ready, for the most part) - weaving in and out of the absurd music biz. Beck only picks up his guitar on occasion. Too much of a good thing is bad and wears out its novelty and enjoyment... Beethoven produced perhaps his best, most comprehensive piece of work before he died, while his real son scothed about it behind his back. Put simply: great musicians and artists do things when THEY think it is right and the time is opportune for their direction. Thirdly, with all the touring you and the band are doing I can only imagine how much this can wear you down (not to mention fatherhood and family). The last thing we want to see happen is for you and the band to get burned out and loose that spark of creativity and enjoyment that eminates from your mind out to the mic and your fingers. Folks, have you ever noticed how the musicians on this site (for those of you noting the posts) have not once made an attempt to rush or push for PT to produce that new CD?? Last, how many of us have looked back on something and said, "I could have gotten more..."? While PT is playing as good as ever, he is not getting any younger. I could go on but I hope people get the point. "I don't mean to preach" but just have a little more trust and faith in PT's professional judgment. The man has class!
I hope this has helped some uncover and reason through only some of the myriad of issues facing PT as he considers his next studio CD.

Man that would have been cool to see Ronnie and Gary play for sure. I didn't realize either of them were out touring. Where do you live BG that you were able to see both of them? My guess is CA perhaps.....

Couple questions from the curious musician mind.....
Who was singing and drumming for RM if you happen to know? Also if you know who was drumming for Hoey? If not no big deal, just wondering.

Hey Strat, BG, ...
Celestion emailed me back regarding the plastic cover coming off one of my G12H30 speakers. The "Doctor" recommeded using double stick pads, the cushion pads you get for various purposes that are sticky on both sides available from DIY (?) and craft shops. Just thought I'd let anyone who might be interested know.

Also, not to detract anything from the recent PT &PTB gigs, but I saw Ronnie Montrose last thursday here in town and the next evening was Gary Hoey at the same concert club. woooowhoooa!!
Strat, Montrose was playing through Bogners! One Bogner head using 2 2x12 Bogner cabinets with another set as a backup, as far as I could tell; 3 yes, 3 Goodrich pedals in series after another, rack gear: time analyzer (off during show), Mesa power amp (simulclass? - 1 space), and one rack space multi-fx unit (couldn't make out the model). After 2 days of searching the web, I could not identify what amp Ronnie was using so I called Bogner directly to inquire (the tolex and chasis were different colors than what Bogner supplies- black). I spoke to the tech person responsible for supplying Ronnie with the Bogners who told me he's using the Shiva EL34(boost for ch. 2,default) with the 2x12 Shiva size open back cabinets equipped with Vintage 30's (60wt). He said Ronnie sat and played that amp for about 10-15 min. before Ronnie told him he wanted one right now and one before he goes on the road. Ronnie sounded very much like he did back on the 70's CD's, but with richer harmonics, warmer, slightly beefier, tubelike quality. These tonal qualities that I was hearing just about floored me...I was stoked. I could go on but wanted to know if Strat, BG or others have had any experience with this amp? The closest dealer to me turns out to be in the bay area so I think I'll be taking some of my gear down and take the Shiva for a test drive this weekend - a bit of a stretch but after hearing that amp and reading the reviews, I cannot afford otherwise.

Trust me when I say the new CD will be worth the hype and then some. Tough buis these days!! If I was Pat,..... I'd tell them them to shove it up their ass untill I had a real offer! He is sitting on a gold mine and no one in their right mind would give it away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I am a little bit biased, but that is the way I see it. Remember Led Zep with all those killer releases...? That is where we are at with Pat. We really need to get the silly ••••• at the companies to recognize!!! The Pain is no joke!!! So hard to deal when you are not at the top of "The food chain" you know what???? It's the masturbation of the week with the "POP" artists. It's all good, but it doesn't satisfy like the real thing! Some day some one will see the truth. What ya' think? Even if they never do.... we know and that some times is enough and Pat knows it to. Look in his eyes and you know he knows if no one else does.

Hey Ian,

Well we both know what was the result of Frank Marino's long awaited CD release. With Marino in virtual hibernation and hardly what I'd call a comeback tour back in 2000, there is really not a comparison to what Pat has been doing. I guess we'll just have to be satisfied with what we experienced in Montreal and listen to the classic records and CDs of FM&MR.

I talked to Eric about the new PTB CD. Evidently there was a real problem when Spitfire Records was going to release Pat's new studio CD and as well as pick up and re-release the first 6 PT albums on CD for the first time. Once Polydor was approached by Spitfire to purchase the rights to them they promptly raised the stakes for the package 300%! Well it evidently put it out of reach to make it worthwhile. So as Eric put it, the new CD is "in the can" but just haven't got a record deal secured as of yet.

We all would love to see those classic PT albums on CD I'm sure, but right now it doesn't seem likely any time soon. Hopefully someday!!

Hey there Mr Fehling, Ian here. Glad you had a good time at PT's show last week. 12yrs is a long break from seeing the man. Anyway at least he gets out more than Frank does. I think he's in hibernation again, and when are we going to see gigs by Frank M that do more than just hug the canadian border.

A single day ticket for all-day access to the Universal Studios Park (where PT is playing on the stage next to the water) is $49.99. I was fortunate enough to have a relative that works at Universal to get me in for free. I am originally from Orlando but now live in god-forsaken Ohio .....hehe. The park is a good time if you want to make a day of it. It does get packed on the weekends so be ready for it. Pat played from 6:45pm until just after 8pm followed by a Mardis Gras parade right through the heart of the park near the stage also.

Here the songs PTB played when I was there at Universal Studios on Friday 3/22. I did not write any down so they are definitely not in order. Also there was a medley of four classic PT tracks towards the end of the setlist as opposed to the full versions so you will have to forgive me if I am incorrect on which ones exactly were included. Remember this is only what I recall and I am sure there is something that could definitely be incorrect or missing here but it should be pretty close I would say:

1. Heat In The Street
2. Ice Queen
3. The Pain
4. Elijah
5. Stevie
6. Snortin' Whiskey
7. Rock N Roll Susie
8. Life In London
9. Hooked On Music
10. Makin' Magic
11. Gettin' Betta
12. Whipping Post (Allman Bros. cover tune)
13. Fortunate Son (CCR cover tune)
14. Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)
15. Daylight Come and Me Wanna Go Home (not sure of the title of this reggae song - cover tune)

Enjoy all that are going to attend this next weekend, I am sure you will like the show!

Pat is still one of the greats in my mind!!

Hey, Gimbel, Pdrummz, Jamalamb, just how much were ticket prices for admission to Universal to catch the band? I noticed that ginbel used an exclamation point when he said "bring your money!". Do I need to knock off a liquor store on the way up there to be sure to have enough cash? I`ll be up there THIS Thursday and Friday for sure. I`ll slide over to Palm Harbor on Saturday to catch PT, though Eric and Rick won`t be with him Saturday.

Hey Pdrummz, glad ya had a chance to catch up with PT, Eric, and Rick. They all play numerous instruments and are capable of playing a wide variety of styles, they`re really very versitle musicians. I caught a show back in November where Eric and Rick played with there own band, "7th Fold" and I was really impressed. I bought their CD "Strange Days Again" and I`ve played it often.

Hi Denise, I hope to run into youz guyz this weekend!

Just got back to Ohio after catching the PTB at Universal Studios FL on Friday night. I haven't seen Pat live for about 12 years and I have to say he is as good as ever! I used to see him often in Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando years ago. His voice sounded great and the band was awesome. Eric and Rick are fantastic musicians. I got a chance to talk drums with Eric a bit before the gig and met Pat and Rick afterwords. All were extremely approachable and friendly.

Hats off to the Pat Travers Band for a fine show and treating fans with respect. I am a huge fan of your music Pat and hope to catch you again soon. Now ......just get an Ohio gig so I can come out and rally for you PT!!

Richard:
I remember Walter Trout when he was with John Mayall. Another fabulous guitarist with him at that time was Coco Montoya. Coco will be touring soon and has a new CD out. Check him out when you get a chance. A member of one of my corporate bands (and a Firefall alumni)is going out with him as a second guitarist. I jammed with Coco years ago, trust me, he's a monster!

Regarding the posts on Taylor Dane: I think she's a great singer. I saw her in a movie playing a stripper - not a bad actress. Whatever her sexual preference - who cares?
If I discover that she's also a guitarist, I'll post her equipment list for Anonymous.

Posted on Thursday, March 28, 2002 - 09:57 pm:

Strat-
Thanks for the heads-up on the ebay listed Shivas. However, I'm just going to have to go to Bogner's bay area dealers to try it out. One has the EL34 combo, another has the 6L6 head, two different Ecstasy models and Bogner's newest amp. Will be nice to audition all of them(if I have the time), nevertheless. BTW, the tubes aren't really that much of an issue since the power tubes they use are Svetlana, which is all I use(they are pretty consistent), and I'll be bringing preamp tubes along to compare (they use the Chinese 12AX7's in their amps). That is, assuming they're biased correctly, etc. I'm going to lug part of my setup with me including my 50MkII which will help serve as the ultimate benchmark for discriminating tone.

Strat, BG -
I received info on how Montrose is running his rig with those Shivas. Hit me with a post if interested.

Hey Z, The Cunning Stunts was a one-off side project Pat did a few years back. No studio recorded tracks that I'm aware of, but there may be a bootleg of a live show floating around out there somewhere. I've never heard of one though....

50-MKII.......I have no experience with the Bogners...so I'm afraid I'm no help to you there...Heard nothing but great things about them! Currently there is a Shiva combo and a Shiva head up on Ebay that may save you a quid or two, but the drawback to that is that you don't get to wail through it before deciding to buy. And as we all know, if tubes are involved, they'll all sound a bit different....Good luck, and let BG and I know what you find out!

were you in Firefall when they played in Stateline, Idaho, at the raceway (circa'75)? I was there. The only eighth grader to hitchhike to the show from the Tri-Cities (only Strat knows where THAT is). Allen Lanier of BOC was more ripped than I've ever see him (believe it) and the next day, the promoter took off with the cash tow days early -- before Rainbow and Heart could play. Naturally, a riot ensued! We got out just before the Idaho State Bulls moved in and smoke began to trickle skyward -- what a show!!

Has Pat ever considered contacting Pyramid Records? They're an independent label based in Miami. The head of the label is Allen Jacobi. He, among other things was our attorney while I was in Firefall. The reason why I bring this up is that they are mainly interested in giving classic rock type artists (Joe Walsh is one of many with this label)an avenue in which to pursue their recording endeavors.

"PAT AT UNIVERSAL"

Brian,

Read my previous posting down the page a bit by "pdrummz". It gives all the info about PTB at Universal Studios including a setlist.

He is playing IN THE UNIVERSAL STUDIOS THEME PARK right in the center of the park in front of the lake and directly across from the old fashioned baby blue colored "Mel's Drive-In." He is NOT playing at City Walk, you must gain access by buying regular admission to the Universal Studios theme park inorder to see him perform. Music starts at 8:30pm this week with the Park scheduled to close at 10:00pm.

General park hours are 9am until 10pm for March 24th - March 31st. Pat will be there all week with the exception of Saturday, March 30th. He has this gig for Saturday: 03/30/02 Palm Harbor FL - Porterhouse Rock Cafe.

You CAN'T miss the stage, the top cover over the stage stands probably 50ft in the air and is made of very flashy, bright colors!

Enjoy!!!
