Rich how's vacation in Florida going. Didn't get my package yet. When do you get back to Renner Rd.? The word FAGS is a turn off enough to not see em' What a joke calling yourself that. I'd rather go to England check out the birds, have a pint of bitter and offer a flash to my British mates. I lived over there 4 years and the Elton John Concert in 1985 at Wembly was the coolest. Randall where the H E double toothpick have you been? Travers Chick Fan how's the band materials coming? I've been buried so haven't posted in a while, but thought I'd check the PT animals out. That gig in England sounds like the one my wife wants to go to. Of course she would have to pick overseas and expensive airline tickets but I think we'll swing it. Hope they have England PT T-shirts> Who's on the bill with Pat? - Blu

Caught some of the R&R Hall of Fame show last night. Steve Tyler inducted AC/DC, and wore a T-shirt from Day on the Green 1978, the show I mentioned before, with Aerosmith, Foreigner, PT, Van Halen & AC/DC. Probably the closest Pat will ever get to being in the Hall of Fame, unfortunately! :-/

gREG, good to see you & Lisa & the kids! Thanks again for coming out, and for the review; we've got it posted up on the site now! http://www.zepagain.com/reviews.html

Anyone else notice the PT connections on all these VH1 shows? Former manager Doc McGhee, Nugent/St. Holmes, Def Leppard (opened for PT), Mutt Lange (produced PT but it never made it to vinyl due to conflicts), Topper Headen (drummer for The Clash), Tommy Aldridge on all the Ozzy and Whitesnake footage, etc.

Add to that the fact that Pat has shared a billing with nearly every significant hard rock act from the 70's and 80's and I'd say that Pat is very well connected but definitely not recognized on these shows.

Well, lets see, I got in my lil' Vibe, went to the gas station and put in $10 of gas (which averages out to about 2.5 gallons nowadays!), and drove. The reason for this ya'll ask? Because i got THE NEW PTB 'Etched in Stone' CD TODAY IN THE MAIL!!!!!!! Besides all the memories flooding back, the quality is AWESOME!!! I can't begin to tell ya how good it sounds.....it really sounds THAT good!! Everything is crystal clear and stays that way even CRANKED up to full volume.....which it was the entire time! Pat's singing/giutar playing is excellent, Eric's MONSTER drumming never sounded better, and Rick's bass playing comes out SO strong.....he's really kinda the glue that keeps the madness together!!! His solo is GREAT!! If ya'll haven't ordered it yet, DO IT!!! I ordered mine last week, and allready have it!! Congrats Liquid Digital Studios on a job VERY well done!! And thank you for the quickness in sending it thru the mail!!Double LIVE CD of PTB......driving was about perfect today!!!!! gREG

Hammerheads: Coverdale (the charming lounge lizard)still has the pipes, Aldridge smack's the skins like he's from another planet. The Scorp's however take it to another "universe". It's been 22 years since Black out Tour for me. Caught the show Sat in Toronto, been walking around in a daze ever since. Figured I had to rectify the situation, so went again last night in London Ontario. It was no fluke, these play like young men, totally energetic and top notch, brings a tear to the eye really. Hey Randy,

Just finished watching your Voices Of Classic Rock Live In Korea DVD. What a treat! :) I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Even though it was basically a hand held camcorder affair (audio was a bit distorted and mix was very much mostly Pat's guitar as well as the video being mostly of Pat-not a bad thing), I found it very enjoyable. The whole concert in the middle of a baseball field (?), in the middle of the day, with people just milling about. I also liked the non musical footage of them signing autographs. Awesome stuff!

Now that I've been teased, was there anybody there filming the whole stage from out front with the audio possibly coming from the soundboard? I'd love to get my hands on it, if they did :)

Hey Unanimous! Your welcome and sorry...I have been waiting for you to come up with something...nothing. It was absolutely spur of the moment. Besides, like Blu you may have ruled it out based on the name "The Fags" alone.

That aside, lately I have been nothing but a downer or bad influence on those around me. 'Nuff said.

I saw the Scorps warm up for Def Leppard and headliner Judas Priest back in 1979 (or was it 1980... no ticket stub for this one).

Me and three buddies went. I snuck in a wine pouch with a fifth of apricot brandy in it. None of my buddies had ever heard much about the Scorps, but I had been a hardcore since the early Uli Roth days (who unfortunatly, had left the band by then). I told my buds I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to go watch them from up close, as the crowd hadn't arrived yet in force, and you could walk right up to about 15 feet from the stage. I got down there and started nipping on that wine flask. By the end of the show that bad boy was empty. I stumbled back to my seat (with a serious #&*@ eatin' grin on my face) and was met with great anticipation by my buds who were looking forward to a couple of healthy snorts of that brandy...

I think you can imagine how the rest that scene played out...

There were others there with video cameras, but at the time it never occurred to me to approach them. The manner in which I filmed that show was not planned. I moved up to the edge of the stage only after people started obstructing my shot.

I've since learned to get the phone numbers of other filmers when I go to a show. I did that last Novemer and was able to get a piece of film that I missed while making a battery change.

My concert filming skills have improved dramatically to say the least (not to mention that I now film in digital). I just shot Collective Soul last week, and that turned out fantastic.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

I remeber seeing the Scorps open for Nugent. It was just before Animal Magnatism came out.....kinda like a warm-up tour. They played 7 songs, had no stage gimmicks, did not talk at all between songs, and did not come out for another song even though the crowd was goin' nuts. The lights came on and the arena was filled w/ boo's. We couldn't believe it.....but it might have been 'tour strategy' because they headlined 4 months later and it sold out quickly, and they had the huge stage set up. Both shows kicked ass!! I had to work when they blew thru town here w/ Dokken/Whitesnake. BIG bummer!! g

Actually, it's been a long, long time since bands performed encores based on crowd response. I've seen a few shows where the band absolutely sucked and got booed off the stage... and a minute later they're back - only to hear a thunderous wall of booing.

At first I couldn't believe they'd come back out when it was obvious the crowd didn't want any more of them and I'm sure they didn't want to do an encore anyway.

And then I found out except for really major acts that can call their own shots, encores all all part of the contract.

Maybe the Nuge was worried about being upstaged by the Scorps and said the weren't allowed to do an encore... who knows.

The first time I saw PT was the Black Pearl Tour opening for Aerosmith. They did two encores and the crowd LOVED them. The first encore was Boom Boom. The second was Rockin'. The place was 2/3 empty by the end of Aerosmith's set. They were terrible in the middle of their drug years without Perry and Whitford.

I can't remember the last time women were throughing their bra's on stage. Something about swaggering, baritone englishmen I guess. Coverdale delivers those old Whitesnake anthem's, with that larger than life persona and people want to get naked. The Whitesnake show was a lot of fun, "PARTY TIME" if you will. Coverdale as ringmaster leading the faithfull to the promised land of "sex, drugs & rocknroll". It was the classic 1-2 punch, the crowd worked into your basic primal party mode, then the wallop. Scorps take the "swaying but still standing " crowd & deliver the knock out blow. Having their way at will with the incapacitated. Rocked into submission, taken to some distant universe, torn apart, and put back together, but not exactly as you where before. I still can't figure out what happened. I was - you know, I mean, 20 some years later, I'd be entertained with aging cheese metal, have a couple laughs & go home. They rocked every last unsuspecting soul at both the shows. People left those arena's, like deer frozen in headlights, mumbling and rambling on. It was a thing of beauty.

No boo's for the Scorps performance.....everyone was in shock at how the came out and just freakin' cranked out the tunes. Almost NO time between songs, no acknowledgement to the crowd at all, 7 songs....and that was it!! The entire place boo'd because thats all they did, and no encore. They were the 2nd band, and the first band (I think it was Humble Pie or Frankie & the Knockouts, or something like that) played a full hour. Yer probably right about Nugent, only gave them 30 minutes so he wouldn't be BLOWN off the stage. Although I love the Tedster. I remember Sammy Hagar on the Standing Hampton tour....1st song, he jumps off the drum riser....right on his face!! The true proffesional, he got up and smiled and barely missed a beat! It was too funny! g

Randal,

I think you've got Max Webster mixed up with another band (regarding having former members of UFO).

Max Webster:
Kim Mitchell (guitars, vocals)
Terry Watkinson (keyboards)
Paul Kersey (drums)
Mike Tilka (bass)
Gary McCracken (drums; replaced Kersey in 1977)
Dave Myles (bass; replaced Tilka)
Dave Stone (keyboards; replaced Watkinson in 1979]
Peter Fredette (bass; replaced Myles)

Saw the Scorpions, Whitesnake, and Dokken show last night. Absolutley fantastic! Anyone who is hesitant to go see these three is really missing out. Scorpions sounded especially good. From their mix down to their song selection, they were, as always, in top form. Klaus' voice is better than ever after 30 years of singing with this band! They drummed out some really classic tunes right off the bat that really shocked me from the Love Drive & Animal Magnetism albums as well as one from Taken By Force. Whitesnake was good also pumping out their popular hits and throwing in a treat, "Judgement Day" from the Slip of the Tongue album. David Coverdale did a good job except for I think he should lay back on the screaming so much because it tends to be delivered as more of a screech. When he kept things in check he sounded great. Reb Beach and Doug Aldrich were fantastic on guitar - great job! And Dokken's new guitarist Alex DelRossa delivered the George Lynch songs with great intensity while sticking to their signature sound. Money and time well spent and one of the better shows I have seen for certain. I think many were shocked at how good these bands still are.

Okay, which should I decide? My 40th is April 5 and husband and I are deciding which to go to: Reo Speedwagon, Ceasers Tahoe or Whitesnake, Dokken, Scorps Knocti Lake?? I have seen whitesnake, Dokken and Scorps quite a few times but have never seen Reo, thought I would take a poll! Can't wait for the 10th, 11th and 19th, PT yeah!!!

We are under Threatcon Charlie here at NASA just a lot of security, still pretty quiet though, except for the protestors in SF, they are totally getting out of hand. Support our troops that are there fighting, that's what I believe!

Man, Montrose cancelled for the Jaxx gig in Springfield, VA tomorrow night. Just got a call from ticketmaster informing about the cancellation. That suxx! I was looking forward to seeing him play. I have never seen him live.

Here is the QUOTE off the Jaxx nightclub webpage:

"Montrose, the gutless ass, has cancelled because he is afraid to get on a plane and fly East. You can get a refund at your place of purchase or come to the show and see a great show by Pat Travers for $5 less. We are very sorry but the whims of a musician are beyond our control."

I sure hope Pat will be playing a longer set now that Montrose will not be playing.

Thanks, Randy. Upon further consideration, I think it was British Lions who has some members of Mott the Hoople and others. That's what I get for being brian-dead, eh? too much other stuff going on.

I also keep a record of the shows I've seen, but it's too much to post!

WOW -- shocking AND awesome. Gee Dub is packing a wallop. Hope they finish soon

Randy: March 18 is the show I saw in London Ontario,I'm curious how the tape of the show is. Are you a Max Webster fan, growing up in Southern Ontario, it's what we were raised on. You must be from Detroit, judging from your concert list.
Drummz: Excellent review & agree totally, I haven't been this entertained at an arena show in years. To tell the truth I didn't think it was still possble. Well worth the cash. Are you located in Ohio?
Traverschick: My wife of 17 years turns 39 on april 9. I really don,t know the music of REO Speedwagon so who am I to suggest, but I can't imagine, it will match the intensity of the latest Whitesnake/Scorps tour. They had attendance of 15 000 in Montreal, 10 000 in Quebec City both sell outs, 13,000 in Toronto almost a sell out and 3 000 in London about half sold. The Toronto Sun gave the performance an excellent review, which is very rare, these aging "rock" bands usually get slagged. I wouldn't think twice, I'd pay the cash towards the closet front & center seats I could find & sing myself hoarse.

I was born and raised every day of my life in Michigan, but not in Detroit. I grew up mostly in a small farm town. Most of the shows I attended were at a hockey arena in Kalamazoo called Wings Stadium. It's located along Interstate I-94 between Chicago and Detroit, so it was a common stop for many bands out on tour.

I think I used to have a Max Webster album, but I've never really been a big fan. I remember being quite impressed with Kim Mitchell's guitar playing when I saw them warm up for Rush at - you guessed it - Wings Stadium.

Here's what the taper said about his tape of the Scorps' London show:

"This is an amazing digital shot! Dead center, tripod, super close and zero obstructions. Just a stunning perfect digital shot."

I'm pretty psyched. If I don't contact you in a few weeks, email me to remind me. I'll be authoring this one to DVD with nice interactive menus, etc.

Here is the QUOTE off the Jaxx nightclub webpage: "Montrose, the gutless ass, has cancelled because he is afraid to get on a plane and fly East. We are very sorry but the whims of a musician are beyond our control."

I guess they weren't planning on having Ronnie come back at a later date, huh?

Who knows, maybe Ronnie has a serious fear of flying and a flight at this point in time was just too much for him to handle. Or maybe he didn't think it was right to be out jamming and having a good time right now. It's hard to say.

Look at John Madden the football sportscaster - he NEVER flies anywhere. You'll never see him at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii because you'd have to fly (or take a boat) to get there. He jumps in the Madden Cruiser and criss-crosses the country by road several times a year.

Great job Randy with the video of VOCR!! I enjoyed every minute of it. I also saw Ken's footage of NYE 2002. EXCELLENT job bud!!!! Everyone's gonna be absolutely amazed when they see it. I can't wait to see it edited with Ed's footage and mixed with the soundboard DAT. It's gonna be one hellava DVD, that's fer sure! How's that coming Rich?

Big Ed and Scott,
I'm up for the game anytime you guys are! Hey, I hear Pat's been doing his fair share of golfing too lately.

Rich, please post a review of the show with Sandy Gennaro! Kind of low class for the club to post that about Montrose on their site. I can understand they're upset about the cancellation, but stuff like that shouldn't be aired in public. Especially after Blu confirmed he was sick. Just my take...

It's a brand new show - and I only had one brand new show myself to swap (the Collective Soul that I filmed on 13 March), so I only asked for the Scorps.

I am really curious about Doug Aldrich as I hear he's quite the guitarist. I'm getting a show he did with Dio recently (Virginia Beach, VA 6/22/02), so I'll get to check him out that way.

Hopefully that package will arrive today. Usually the travel time for packages from APO addresses in Korea to California is quick because the actual APO (Army Post Office) is in San Fran.

Cheers,

Just got back from the Jaxx show. WOW!!!! Pat was literally running around the stage and jumping up and down while playing his ass off!!! Holy sh$#!!! Zero technical flaws. No broken strings or monitor problems or anything. Just 100% ass kickin' rock and roll. The set list was a little more rock oriented. No medley, no hooked on music(I think). I can't remember the set list maybe Carl or Chris can help. He played Red House and some other song that friggin' kicked ass, but I don't even know the name of it. They have perfect chemistry together. Sandy is just 100% pro drummer. Great guy and right on time with Pat. You can tell he is one of the originals when you see/hear him play. Cool to hear that style again. It's his drumming that was so distinct on Radioactive and Black Pearl. Kasim is very relaxed and fits right in. He has kind of a Rick Navarro style, but a little more technical like Mars. Or at least that's how I see it. Once again Pat surrounded himself with some talented musicians! Oh... they did White Room also. That was REALLY great!!!! Pat was just laughing and smiling!!! What a great show!!! The crowd was pretty thick and were all on the floor and loving every minute of it. No one even noticed Ronnie did not show up. The opening act Circus Tribe did a great job also. Those guys have some real talent! Anyway just a great time as usual, but even more so with all of Pats' energy. (I asked how many espressos did he have before the show!)LOL! Lots of smiling faces, sold almost all the CDs we had. Beer drinkers and hell raisers we were!! And still are... salute!! Peace out Rich ps the NYE DVD is under way and will be finshed VERY soon!

Oh crap I forgot to mention the BIG difference to this show. He brought his own personal Marshall head. Man, it sounded incredible. He said he just felt more comfortable with it and know how it reacts. He played with reckless abandon. I really thought he was going to break something(including his fingers)! Everyone was laughing and smiling because everyone knew we were at one of those special performances you will always remember. Now we are just praying for more!

Well, folks...I have a lot to talk about, so please pardon the book.

First of all, the Jaxx show in Springfield featuring Sandy Gennaro and Kasem Sultan was fantastic. I have to agree with Rich's assessment, Pat was the most stoked I'd seen him in a long time and sounded great! As much as I missed seeing (and hearing) Eric and Rick, Sandy and Kasem did an amazing job, and we were treated to a few change-ups on the setlist. I, unfortunately, being a space cadet, didn't have a pen and wouldn't have been able to concentrate to write down the set list either, though I gave someone who grabbed one my email address and they said they'd scan it and send it to me, we'll see if that happens. Keep your fingers crossed.

In addition to enjoying seeing Rich and Nancy again, I met Chris (Drummz) who came all the way from Dayton, OH to see Sandy (and, of course, Pat) and had a chance to chat quite a bit with him in the line waiting for the doors to open. Chris, you're a gentleman and a scholar! I also got to make a few new friends, including a lovely lady from Richmond who was seeing her first Pat Travers show. She was psyched, and even more so when Pat gave her a few kisses and Sandy gave her an autographed drumstick. Hopefully I can get her to post her pics from the show here...they'll be great.

From my hazy recollection, Pat started out with a cover I didn't recognize, listed on the set list as "Hwy 61", then blazed into Life in London and the full version of Gettin' Betta...which has always been one of my personal favorites and I felt got short shrift in the infamous "medley"

As Rich mentioned, we were treated to a special treat...White Room by Cream, which Pat did in his own style, but sounded incredible. I think Rich is confused about Red House, I think that was in the sound check/warmup, which I listened to part of from outside the club. I also vaguely recall "Just Enough Money", "The Pain", "Stevie", some Grand Funk song I didn't recognize, "Snortin' Whiskey", and "Boom Boom" to finish the show, followed by Pat's trademark volume swell solo into "Born Under a Bad Sign". The small but vocal crowd was so insistent that he came out a second time and blew into "Statesboro Blues" for a finale. I am quite sure there are songs I'm forgetting, but you all know how it is. To sum the show up in one word: Unbelieveable!!!!

After the show, all three of them did the meet'n'greet, and I had the pleasure of chatting briefly with both Sandy and Kasem, both of whom were extremely friendly and very appreciative of the praise I heaped upon them and their performances.

Also, I was able to score a copy of the new "Etched in Stone" 2-CD set from Rich, and I echo the kudos already given to it here. It's a great live recording and the performances are fantastic. A "must-have" for any serious PT fan. Buy 'em while they're hot!

Got much more to talk about but it's 5 am and it's time for bed.

As always

I just got back Sunday after attending the Jaxx show in Springfield, VA. First, I want to say what a treat it was to meet Sandy Gennaro. He was extremely friendly and signed all my stuff as well as taking a few pics with me and Pat. It was a special event for me because Sandy was drumming at my very first concert I ever went to when I was 13. The show was the Pat Travers Band with the Johnny Van Zant Band opening in 1980 in Orlando, FL. Sandy drummed on a huge Ludwig kit back then with a broken heel bone and a cast on his leg! Hard to forget.

The show in Springfield, VA was fun. Pat was really loose and smiling the whole way through. He was super pumped and was in such a good mood. Sandy played a small natural tone 4-piece Yamaha kit with Paiste cymbals. His drums sounded great! Kasim was all smiles and grins and thumped right trough all the tunes. There were some flubs here and there but nothing extreme. For a first time gig from this group it was really done well and was a treat to see. All three of them seemed like they really enjoyed playing together. The show was a bit different from the tightly structured performances of Pat's I have seen in the past, with this one being much looser and jam-like. You have to understand Kasim, Sandy, and Pat had never played together prior to this show and this was their only gig together from what I was told. The only thing Sandy and Kasim had was a tape Pat gave them to learn the tunes. So considering that, it went pretty well and I am sure many in the audience never even noticed. "White Room" simply kicked ass!! Pat sang with such conviction ...it was awesome. It was cool to meet Sandy Gennaro and have him sign a bunch of stuff including an instructional DVD of his I bought and a Sandy Gennaro model drumstick. Sandy and Kasim are great players and really personable guys.

Thank you so much Sandy for the hospitality, you are a true gentleman and one great guy! It definitely made the trip out there worthwhile.

And thanks again Pat, for being the great player and dedicated perfomer you are! I know I surely appreciate the time and talent.

I also want to say hey to Rich & Nancy, and Carl who I met at the gig - a great bunch of PT fans!

-Chris-

Yep... one hell of a show. Pat knew it to. He just kept smiling... I know I should have written the set list down, but we are just so bust with helping the guys tie up any loose ends and selling CD and trying to enjoy the show that stuff just slips past us. I think Carl is right.. Pat did Red House during the rehersal. It all starts to run together after a while. LOL! We have to really thank Jay Nedry (Jaxx club owner) for bringing Pat in. Money is tight for everyone and with Ronnie not making the gig for what ever reason, Jay still had Pat come in and had to discount the door a little. Jay is a hell of a nice guy and has the best rock and roll club any where near here. He is keeping it together and we support him in that. Thanx Jay!

Sounds like the set was very similar to the show Pat did with Wishbox here in LA back in Jan. Carl, Highway 61 is a Dylan cover, he opened with it at the Wishbox show too. And I agree, Gettin Betta needs to be played complete!

Wow!!! Sounds like a great revue. The set list also sounded very similar to the one I did with Pat here in Texas in January. Hwy. 61 is a Johnny Winters tune, off of the Captured Live CD.

Drummz description of the players and the situations also sounded all too familiar. Three guys playing that never played together with no time together. Although Sandy did play with PT in the day LOL!!! Glad to hear it turned out so well for all. Rich (Ginbel)glad to hear you had a good time too and got to see the show. We'll talk soon, very soon about the DVD collection.

Just my opinion so don't everybody jump me for saying so...

If you have a deal with Rich (Ginbel) for stuff you have purchased and need to correspond with him please use email. I have seen a few people posting here about private deals with Rich. Give us and Rich a break. It is not cool to air personal stuff on a public messageboard for all to see. Rich is on the up and up and very dedicated. I'm sure he does not appreciate it when people do this. He is doing us all a favor by making this stuff available. It takes a lot of time and effort to do what he does and I am sure this is not his occupation. If you can type it on a board you can send an email just the same. Let's keep the board for PTB discussion and positive things.

I hope I have not offended anyone personally by saying this because that is not the idea. I just hope people will re-think things before posting and try communicating privately about private matters. I think we all would appreciate that.

My two cents...

On 21 February, I received a package mailed from Woodstock, GA on 7 January. Incidentally, I was sweating bullets because the person was sending me three master 8mm videotapes of live footage he'd shot - tapes that were impossible to replace.

Today I got a package from Connecticut mailed on 21 March.

As most of you know, I'm in the military stationed in Korea. Of course, the mail comes here by airmail once it leaves the good 'ol US of A proper. One package from the eastern part of the US took six weeks, another one from a comparable distance (regionally speaking) took four days.

I've completely given up on trying to predict the mail and how long it will take to get from point A to point B.

'Nuff said.

It's really weird with the mail these days. I am getting non stop complaints about delivery times. I agree with Randy... some stuff is really fast, others are ultra slow. The REALLY strange thing is packages I mail to very same person one day apart, arrive 4 weeks apart. I think they are random screening packages and when they go in to that process they are just held for quite a while. Personally for this type of stuff it should be no biggie as it is just music for listening purposes(not food or money), as long as it does eventually get there. Especially when we have zero control over what happens when the post office gets it. Priority mail is the same way. Express mail seems to go through fine though, anyway enough of that. Another comment on the Jaxx show, Pat mentioned that he recorded a new CD for Varney. It is a tribute to power trios. I didn't bother to ask and he did not say what all was on it, but he started to get all excited to let me listen to it, but Sandy left it in the hotel and I forgot to even ask later at the hotel. Oh well. Pat was excited about it though and that is a good sign as he is pretty critical of his own work. So I don't think is in the same vein as alligators..(I hope). No Hendrix tunes on it, that much I know. I would not call Hendrix a "power trio" anyway. Of course it might be fair to count Jimi 3 times! LOL! Can you imagine if he was still around? What a shame huh?! His music just lives on forever though. Peace Out Rich

Drummz

Your post is well taken. However, I respectfully disagree. Blu has obviously made prior offline contacts. Blu has every right to do so. Sometimes it is absolutely necessary to keep someone honest especially when it is your own personal property without possiblity for replacement. The "checks in the mail" approach, unfortunately, is cause for concern so I can relate to Blu. I have seen the other party use this posting board for "personal stuff" which I fully agree is unacceptable. I think BLu covered the possibility of mail not being delivered on time adequately.

Daryl,

How are you doing bud? Our NYE DVD will be a good one, no doubt. Will we be seeing you in three weeks?

Are the CAPTR's plans the same?

Take care all.

Hi guys

Bad news for those of us in the UK.

While checking for new UK dates I came across this on the site for the Robin, nr Birmingham:

Fri 20th June THIS SHOW IS POSTPONED PAT TRAVERS NEW DATE TBA SHORTLY TOGETHER WITH REPLACEMENT SHOW FOR THIS DATE.

I'm gutted - I was going to go to this one. Although Sheffield's nearer I'm seeing Purple the nite PT plays. Let's hope it's not the whole tour.

I checked the sites for Renfrew Ferry Glasgow & Mount Stuart Cardiff, those dates are still in place (at the moment). The Sheffield Boardwalk site doesn't go as far as June, so I can't find out if that's still on.

It's a shame nobody seems to keep Ed up to date on gigs outside the US - it's really hard finding out about them & then this sort of thing happens!!

Great pic ED!! If Rich and Blu have an agreement by phone or email, its best they keep it that way. Everything I ordered from Ginbels was here in PHX in A week/ or less!! For some reason TXRich had the same problem w/ Blu. The stamp is on the package....given to the post-office....POST on the "US mail" site about the SLOW delivery. I mean what is Rich supposed to do?? Call the president and ask, "Whats up?" ••••...this guy does SO much for our PTB experiance, you'd think a little thing like the mail would be tolerated.....yet we still Bitch-n-moan!! I wouldn't be suprised if Rich said, "•••• IT" and didnt'y offer ANYTHING and we'd all be in the same boat as 3 yrs ago....BEGGING for PT stuff. Give it a rest goddamn it!! Great....now the post office delivery times are all Ginbel's fault....and his honesty is in question. Some people need to shake the burrs out of their collective asses and move on to something more relevant. We have a major war where soldiers are losing their lives, and people are upset that they didn't get their package at a certain time? Pretty selfish, I think. It's a different world now, people. Things are not the same as they were just a short time ago. And this includes the mail. You better get used to it.

Maybe Ginbel should offer the choice of sending anybody's package through UPS or any other variety of trackable mail, then email them a copy of the tracking receipt. Of course the additional costs for this type of shipping should be up to those who doubt him in the first place, and not Rich. This should shut up those who question his shipping methods and honesty. There is usually a solution to just about any issue if people would just grow up, and stop whining long enough to ponder a resolution...

I've personally dealt with Rich for several years now and never had an issue. Gee...I guess I'm one of the "fortunate" ones.

Sorry to go off, but damn, this is just stupid. It's real simple. If you don't trust Ginbel...don't deal with him. How hard is that? Trust me, he won't lose any sleep over it. In fact, it'll probably make his life alot easier.

Let's get back on track with what this site is all about...The magic of PT's music! Keep your personal issues confined to outside emails or phone calls.

Support the troops, keep 'em in your thoughts and prayers...and stay strong.

And as always....PTB is King!

Aw`ight, I saw an ad in a local entertainment paper here in south Floriduh for the PT&co. show on April 5th. It`ll be happening in Ft.Lauderdale at a club called "Alligator Alley". This is the gig where Eric will be helping out onstage. The guys had better eat their "Wheaties" cuz the ad list 2 sets for them, one at 9 o'rock and the other at 11:30. Tickets are $20. Heck, I better eat my "Wheaties" cuzz there`s a local blues fest starting at 1:00 am the same day. There`s a local music fest, all kinds of tunes, this weekend too! I`m getting to old for this "stuff"!

A new christian missionary is sent to central Africa to preach the bible to a tribe of heathen natives. On his first night at the village, the jungle drums pound through out the night, non-stop, and the young preacher can`t sleep. At the break of day, the bleery eyed preacher finally goes to the tribal chief and asks him if he would stop the drums so he can get some much needed rest. The chief looks at him and says "Drums no stop!!! Guitar solo next!!!"

It`s Guitarzan, and his jungle band, they`re all you can stand, so give them a hand! S'later, JH

Those of you who got to see this show are very lucky !!!(By the way, it only took 3 - 4 days for the package to arrive after I paid for it.) One of the better verisions of "Hooked on Music" I have heard. Eric really shined on this one. It's been a while since I heard a version of "Crash and Burn" like this. Ginbel, this has to be one of your best products to date. And a double live "Radio Active" disc comming soon too. You rock dude.

The Scorpions first Tour in America was for the Lovedrive album in 79,and the Scorpions opened the show.Sammy Hagar and Pat Travers were the co-headliners here in Dallas.

Also saw Pat in 79 at the End of the Summer Blowout at the Cotton Bowl, which there was somebody else on this board that said they were there also, and there maybe a few more here also that were there on that Hot August day in 79.

In 1980 on there Animal Magnetism Tour the Scorpions played 2nd with Leppard opening and Nugent Headlining.

Have a VG show of the Scorps on the Lovedrive Tour Headlining in Chicago, they play a lot of good Uli era material also.

Leppard played some Shows with Pat on there first Tour in 1980 also, and I am just trying to find out the dates and venues and City/State info for the shows.

I see Pat will be playing here in Dallas soon,so I know there will be some Rocking going on.

Wow...Scorps, Hagar & Travers '79. Sounds like a great show! "Lovedrive" was a very strong release (my personal fave of the Scorps), Travers had "Go For What You Know" and Hagar had what? "Street Machine" perhaps? That must have been a rocking show! All 3 bands were red hot at that time! Not too many guitar dominated shows like THAT anymore. Sure am glad I was a kid at the time growing up and enjoying that era....Wouldn't trade it for a thing. That was the "golden age of rock & roll"...

"Don't worry baby. Everything will turn out alright". This is our Pat Travers family. I know the emroidered Polo shirt took at least 12-14 days to arrive after Rich sent it. It's also that we are going on 14 days. It's my precious PT stuff you see, so I am upset it didn't come "priority" the way I sent it and the way it was promised to be sent to me. I'm chilled, but every day I come home from work I look for that dang package. You see I am a true born PT fanatic. I can't get enough of what I got recorded or what will be newly released. I don't mind spending my thoughts with all. We all have the same mentality when it comes to PT and being his devoted fan. . .Bring on the New Pat Travers Blues Bureau International CD - "yeah". Rich call me in a couple of days if I don't let you know it's here. Also, to comment Texas Rich's package arrived with note saying "sorry Blu it came back with wrong zip-code, but here it is autographed laminate and all". I wear that Texas PT shirt all over and hope - just hope -- somneone asks me a question about Pat --- A monster guitar living legend of my day.! - Thanks for tricking out my stuff Rich. I didn't take Bluhawley's last post with any offense. He's just mentioning the current state of affairs with PT related stuff. Isn't that what this message board is all about. Yes things can get a little heated, but that's alright. The one thing I think this country is suffering too much from is "political correctness". Let's not have this message board suffer the same. I think within reason, we should all feel free to speak our minds. This is America afterall :)

hey Bette! Glad you like it! We mailed that about two weeks after we mailed Blu's items. Go figure. I do believe that we pull in good or bad luck upon ourselves. Kind of what goes around comes around type of thing. It may sound corny, but I find it to be true in my life. I TRY to remain positive and cheery. So I am sorry if sometimes I offend those around me. Sometimes the stupidity is more than I can ignore. Anyway Double Live Radioactive will be ready next week. Then very shortly after the NYE DVD is ready. It is almost done now. I am just putting the finishing touches on it! Anyway I know this is a free country and we have the "right" to say pretty much what ever we want. However this site should remain in more of a positive light (if possible). If Blu (or anyone else) REALLY thinks I am out to screw them and they have exhausted the normal methods of communication(phone, fax, email) then by all means seek recompense here. When you START here, it looks more like a cry for attention than a real effort to solve a problem whether real(or as in this case) perceived. Try to have faith in each other. I never mean to let anyone down.... EVER! If I do I am sorry. This is NOT my job. I do this for Pat. I tend to forget things and sometimes need a FREINDLY reminder. Thanx for everyone who has shown us kindness and support we appreciate it! Peace Out Nancy and rich

Hi again, I posted here a week or so ago, and im back :) ! I'm very happy to report that I went to my first Pat Travers show at Jaxx and it was great! Kasim Sulton is someone ive known for quite a bit, so of course i had to check out his gig with Pat at least once, and dang, i wish there were more! That was the best rockin' evening ever and everyone at the front of the stage was as nice as could be to me, and if you're reading this and might be one of them, thanks so much!!

I did take photos that night, and a friend of mine who has a great fan site devoted to Kasim put them online today, so i thought i'd share the link.
Jaxx:

But she also has a page of photos from the New Jersey gig that Pat, Sandy and Kasim did the weekend before the Jaxx show at:

If you're curious about Kasim, Sue's main site is at http://www.kasiminfo.com and Kasim's official site is at: http://www.kasimsulton.com

Its been so great reading everyone's reviews and what they thought of Kasim and his performance. I can say that he really had a great time doing the shows and really wishes he had a chance to do more! So do i, I really thought the show was amazing, Pat and the guys just rock beyond words!
Take care!!

Steve-just having some fun with you. I'm always intrigued by tribute bands and whether or not the band members have both the talent and physical similarites to their "character". Rarely do you get both. From what I hear you've got the talent and you actually do look pretty close to JP. I can tell just from your photos that you've really studied Page's mannerisms on stage. PT and Jimmy Page are my two favorite guitarists. I really wish I could get to see you guys sometime. Do you ever make it to the east coast? All we've got here in North Carolina is "ZOSO". They are really good but IMHO there can never be enough Zeppelin tribue bands. :)

Man, that "gig" has been brewing for well over a year now! Still having probs with that same guy that owns the hotel down the street? Much luck on eventually sealing that deal! I need a place to party on the penninsula! (Sounds almost like a ZZ Top song!)

Seeing the pics of the Travers/Gennaro/Sulton gig only made me wish that I had been there! I KNOW it was a bad ass show! How could it NOT be? Bumming it wasn't recorded!

Hope the Cheap Trick gig was a good one for our Canuck Travers family members. We'd like a review please...Cindy? Darren? Sandy? Give it up!

Hearing that the newest Travers disc is a salute to the "power trio" made me wonder if there was a Rush track on the disc (probably not, most likely) and it got me to thinking if Pat DID do a Rush track, what would I like to hear him do? My first thoughts were "Working Man" or "La Villa Strangiato"...What do you guys think? (Just for conversation's sake)

Welcome a-board, Jen. Were you the tall, dark-haired attractive woman sitting at the back of the dance floor next to the steps on the right with the tan camera bag? I thought I saw you talking to Kasim after the show. I tried to view your pictures at the show but it froze my puter and then I had to retype this whole post :( The show was great. I was the guy dancing and running around like a chicken with its head cut off, talking to the people sitting along the back wall on the other side of the steps, black Styx t-shirt, brown hair, glasses, drinking Coronas.

Speaking of tribute bands, I have to share this experience with you guys. On Sunday evening, after seeing an ad and reading a blurb in the Washington Post, I drove to a club about an hour away from my house to see a Pink Floyd tribute band called "The Machine". Rarely have I been so happy I decided to go to a show I was lukewarm about. The article and ad indicated that, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the release of "Dark Side of the Moon", that the band was going to perform the album in its entirety, while screening "The Wizard of Oz" at the same time. Despite my misgivings about how "authentic" these guys would be, IceQueen and I decided to go see what all the fuss was about. These guys blew me totally away! They performed DSOTM flawlessly from beginning to end, true to the original performances, other than taking a brief detour to throw a reggae jam into the instrumental section of "Money", while the singer sang, in Bob Marley style "We Be Jammin'!", showing that although they were professional, they didn't take themselves too seriously and had a sense of humor. The highlight of the first set was the performance by Suzanne, their female singer, of "Great Gig In the Sky", which blew the version Floyd did during the "Division Bell" tour in 1994 away, in my opinion. I am not ashamed to say that her peformance brought tears to my eyes, it was so spectacular. The second set was equally impressive, after a brief intermission, the band ran through a smattering of well-known Floyd favorites and some more obscure songs, the most impressive of which (to me) was "One of These Days".

If you are a fan of Floyd, I'd highly recommend checking these guys out, I can almost promise you they will not disappoint. I believe there will be a limited number of the Dark Side/Wizard of Oz shows which have not yet been posted on their website, this is a rarity not to be missed. I also met a few of them after the show and they were extremely friendly and very appreciative of the positive feedback I heaped upon them. Check out their website at http://www.themachinelive.com

On a different note, I just wanted to say to Rich and Nancy that the majority of us here truly appreciate the great sacrifices of time, energy and money you have made to provide us (the Pat Travers faithful) with materials otherwise unavailable, and often without hearing how great that is to be able to get some of this stuff. I'd been wanting "Puttin' It Straight" on CD for many years before I went to see Pat at the Recher Theater in Towson and bought my first "Rich" disc (not to mention my 2nd and 3rd). I can't tell you how tickled I was to be able to finally hear it all again.

In any social situation, there are people who seem to need to act out to get attention. Ya just have to ignore them the best ya can. Please keep up the good work and understand that MOST of us really appreciate what you are doing and how much thankless work it is for you to provide the quality products you do for us here.

Keep on rockin', PT style!

Hey Purplehaze62,

There is a great reggae version of Dark Side Of The Moon that just came out. It's called "Dub Side Of The Moon", but I'm not sure of the name of the band.

I've heard samples of a few of the songs and it sounds like somebody using all of Pink Floyd's instruments, producers, engineers and everything including Pink Floyd themselves, but with a reggae twist.

Anybody that likes Dark Side Of the Moon, should check this out! :)

Rich, my stuff still isn't here -March 27. Go ahead and send me duplicates priority 3-day. I've been out of town for two days, but had my wife checking the post. She said you called and she listened to your offensive message and you went on so long that she had to lift up the reciver and hang up on you. Her name is Christine and I'll expect you to call and leave her an apology or else we will have more of an issue than the missing recorded collateral. It's $2.30 cents to guarantee I get my stuff. For guys like Randy who are lost in the storm I'm not trying to offend, I'm trying to get my stuff. I called you Rich but there was no answer. I'm working two jobs. So many personal emails to me about this and I haven't replied out of respect for you. The truth is what it is and my stuff isn't here. The post is here, rather than writing the same thing over and over. I don't want people out there to get down on Rich - he does not control the mail. He's made me a promise and I'll expect him to keep it, whether he needs to resend a package. So Randy - no I won't give it a rest until it's time to do so - You DIG? IT does not take 15 days to mail from DE to NV - sorry pal. - I will try to remain in a chilled status but... Thanks for all the supporting emails from other PT family members. TC,
I've checked all sources for the UK dates in June and they all seem to be in tact apart from the Robin date. Their website does state that the show will be re-arranged, so I guess they mean within June. They have blank nights 24th to 26th. PT plays Cardiff 24th, so maybe 25th or 26th? Ticketline still selling tickets for Sheffield and Glasgow also.

Still unable to locate a London date, there has got to be one out there somewhere.

"Gettin' Betta!" I'd do it myself, but I can't sing! LOL!

Carl, The Machine show sounds cool! They were out here in LA a few months back, but I couldn't go. A few of the guys from the Pink Floyd tribute I play with went, and were pretty impressed. (But they say our 'Roger Waters' is better!)

The girl we used to have doing Great Gig went on to do The Lion King in professional theater. Brought the house down every time! Now we have another girl who's also quite good at it.

Ed & Darryl, c ya tomorrow!

PS For the record, I provided Rich with a master for one of his first PT projects. Took him a LONG time to get it done and back to me, but I didn't stress out about it. Just checked in with him from time to time to make sure he was still alive! ;-) When it was done, he sent it back, with a free copy of his finished product. Everything else I've bought from him has always arrived, fast or slow. He is not amazon.com, he's a guy who helps out PT (& us!) with some cool stuff. 'Nuff said.

Sorry to hear the additional bad news....Seems like it'll never stop, but we all know it eventually will.

How about something upbeat for a change? Not sure how many know or care, but Chris Degarmo has reunited with Queensryche and they are currently in the studio working on their next release. For Queensryche fans, this is great news. Being a big part of the songwriting team for all their earlier classic material, Chris has been missed for some time now. Their plans are to do a very brief tour in Europe at the time of the release as a warm-up for an expected big tour of the States. When the U.S. tour kicks off they will be co-headlining with Dream Theater, who are quite respectable musicians in their own right. Should be a great evening of music!

On another note, apparently nobody thought the idea of PT doing a Rush cover must have been an interesting idea ('cept fer Cindy the PT Queen). It was just an idea to get everyone's mind off of that OTHER issue of late...

Something I'd like to hear Pat cover would be either "Master Of Sparks" or "Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings" by ZZ Top!

Regarding the PT tribute band name...Hammerhead seems the obvious choice, but I sure like Electric Detectives!

I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in.(name the singer of that old tune) I was at a music fest last night in Ft.Lauderdale and a few people are talking about the PT show next weekend. Right now there is all kinds music going on in south Floriduh. I`ll be out the door in a few minutes to head back to the fest.

Rick Nielson of Cheap Trick is a funny guy. A couple of years ago at a CT show there was a cop leaning against the stage with his back to the band. The cop was in his dress uniorm, with a flat top hat, and looking so uptight that I think he could`ve cracked walnuts with his syphincter. During the show, Rick was creeping up behind the cop and placing guitar pics on top of his hat. Everybody in the place, including other cops, was watching. After about a dozen pics or so, officer tight ass moved his head and the pics all fell. When the cop saw that it was guitar pics, he looked up at Rick, and Rick was trying to act innocent. The place, including the other cops, just busted out laughing. Officer uptight then just kinda smiled.

Aw'ight, I`m outta here. S'later, JH

Hey MissingMars...NOBODY can sing like Geddy! LOL!
I wouldn't expect Pat to try and emulate those vocals...just sing in his own cool style. And there are no vocals in "La Villa Strangiato", just tons of killer riffs. You can't hear PT singing "Working Man" in his own vocal style? I do think it would be a bit bizarre for Pat to try one of their epics...it just wouldn't suit him, but some of their earlier rocking stuff I think would lend itself quite well to Pat's style. Oh well...at least we're discussing something DIFFERENT than the "mail" issue, and that's VERY good!

Hey Rich, I was spinning Tres Hombres last night after posting and also thought "Precious & Grace" was a very funky tune that Pat could pull off. That is a bit of a strange track. Some cool time signature changes that would feel so natural to Pat, and some slide guitar for Pat to stretch out on. I also thought "Sheik" had the sly humor that I know Pat appreciates.."I met a Sheik from Mozambique who led me to the Congo / He dreamed we'd go to Mexico and sample a burrito..." & "I took a boat that couldn't float, to Rio De Janeiro / So with my scuba I swam to Cuba, but I'll be gone tomorrow..." Too funny! And such a quirky funky shuffle beat, wah guitar break and jazzy chordal ending (think "Purple Jazz")...too cool.

If Pat was gonna do a slow blues ZZ number, instead of "Hot Blue & Righteous", I'd like to hear him do "Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell" from "Rio Grande Mud"...That track is as soulful as "The Pain" which I think is Pat's finest slow track, although I'd give my left nut to hear him do "Play It Like You See It" live just once....

Anyway, it's interesting to ponder the covers thing, as Pat seems to be doing a lot of that on his last few recordings. I do agree 100% with whoever it was that posted a week or so back that Pat REALLY needs to release those rocking originals that he's done over the last 4 or 5 years. There are some unbelieveable tracks he's done that are SO MUCH better than any cover could possibly be! And I'm sure that at this point he has more than enough high quality originals to compile a full CD release. How 'bout it Pat???? Maybe we could all bombard Mike at Blues Bureau with emails to allow Pat to do just that! It's an idea...

Support the troops, pray for the fallen comrades, and stay strong....

And as always...PTB is King!

The only 2 'new' songs I've heard are Elijah and Wiser Man & they're both excellent.

I keep hoping that if Pat can't do a 'proper' PT album, he'll at least manage another album like 'Just a Touch'. To me that's kind of half way between the 'Blues/covers' albums & a 'proper' PT album.

(Still grateful for anything tho'!!!!)

Ahemmm... speaking of new.... NEW DVD!!! Super Saver Volume number TWO! Live from Cocoa Beach 1994. This is a really rare piece of footage! 70 minutes long, with 13 chapters. It has 3 videos, that as far as I know are found nowhere else! Chapters are.. 1.Rock and Roll Susie, 2.Life In London, 3.THE RIFF!, 4.Gettin' Betta, 5.Heat In The Street, 6.The Pain, 7.I CAN'T QUIT YOU!, 8.Crash and Burn, 9.Stevie, 10.FALL TO PIECES!, 11.Snortin' Whiskey, 12.Boom, Boom, 13.Statesboro Blues. The concert took place on a beautiful day in May. The concert takes place outside. Most of the video centers around Pat. The others members are... Guitar=Eric Cartwright, Bass=Ernie Pagnini, Drums=Michael Amico. The show is quite good and on our grading scale I give it a 6. Points were taken off due to it most featuring Pat and the sound is decent, but not as good as it could be, however it is in stereo. Over all though, the video is really great and a fine addition to your collection. Especially considering the rarity of several tracks. As usual the Super Saver price of $15.00 applies.
