Hello PT Fans, I'm glad to see all the bull**** about Pat's Pacific Northwest tour die down. I don't want to start it up again but I really think some of you need to get a life! I saw PT with Wishbox in Portland on Sat. night and again on Mon. night in Silverton. I don't know what anybody has to snivel about. They were HOT! Pat and the band were tight. I hope Pat doesn't check this site too often. I think he'd be offended by all of his 'true-blue' fans second-guessing his decisions. Listen up folks... Life is too short to wear tight shoes... Enjoy all the music while you can... be that PTB or PT with Wishbox or PT all by himself. 'nuf said. Now a question for you... If this is the Pat Travers website... not the Pat Travers Band website, why don't you list ALL of Pat's upcoming gigs not just the ones that include Rick and Eric? This is a dis-service to PT and his current and future fans. If you really do want to promote PT and his music, then doesn't it make sense to get ALL of the info. for any and all of his shows out to as many people as possible? Thanks for putting up with my rants, I needed to get that off my chest. CJ P.S. For those of you who said that Pat is stand-offish with his fans...You are entirely mistaken. I have never seen anyone step down off a stage and meet & greet fans the way Pat did both Sat. and Mon. Nights. IT WAS GREAT! |

We hit the studio next week to fine-tune the machine.....these are gonna be outstanding gigs and tickets are selling well so far! Texas Tour T-shirt orders are coming in.....thanks for the tour support PT fans, you're the best! Enough of this Wishbox thing though..... God Bless and keep ROCKIN!! Rich in TX |

I saw the Dregs back when I was just at young fellow at college in 1980. They were really nice guys. They had to pack up their own stuff. In spite of this, after the show, they talked with anyone who stayed around to chat. I ended up helping Steve Morse load up his gear. Randy |

I've seen the Dregs and the Steve Morse Band almost everytime they were in town over the past 4 years or so thanks to Dave La Rue. These two bands always provide some of the most amazing musicianship I've ever witnessed. Dave La Rue ROCKS! |

Whoa! DOWN Girl! Sorry Folks. CJ is a bit overprotective when it comes to her family. I get it from reliable sources that her brother-in-law-to-be is a member of Tissuebox. (Lighten up Mr. Dover, I thought it was funny too!) We didn't get to the Seattle show - just as well, I'd have pissed my pants laughing if Pat really did have to whistle the "box boys" back to the stage after his solo. Anyone who caught PT in Portland may recall the point in the show when Pat, having blown a second E-string (on a second guitar) was popping a few harmonics while putting a tune on his Les Paul. Then he stopped, looked out into the crowd and with a home-roll hanging from the corner of his mouth (I THOUGHT I smelled something...) proclaimed quietly, but clearly "...I HATE GUITARS..." then BLASTED into the opening licks of "Snortin Whiskey". When Pat pulled the trigger on his lead solo, the ROOF came off the place and PT owned every soul in it. Except of course, the ONE HARDCORE PTB FAN who was out in the lobby demanding his money back. If you MUST have a flawless performance, sell your car and buy a ticket to see The Eagles. (No slam intended...they were unbelievable.) BUT if you want raw hardedged rock & blues in it's PUREST form... there is only one. ...See ya there. Street |

That "home rolled" was just tobacco. He does roll his own. Actually, we did have a flawless performance at the NYE show. One thing though we have seen Pat break a LOT of strings. The way he plays it's a wonder they do not break more often. LOL! |

Got the Dregs tix, Ed, you ROCK!! PT with Mars & Tommy, oh yeah, now THERE would be a show not to be missed! The very first PT I EVER heard was a live show with this line-up, before Pat Thrall had joined. It was broadcast on the radio in San Jose, CA, and I completely wore out my crappy tape of that show! Man, I hope that really does happen! Cheers! Steve Z |

We will support Travers no matter what, go to the shows, express our views, and have a blast! I just know Eric/Rick are tight musicians and together w/ Pat, THEY ROCK!! As it's been said MANY times, "Pat's gonna do what Pat wants to." I have to admit......the DVD thing gave me goose-bumps! SWEET! g |

WoW! That was one frickin' jam! George Mastas could very well be "the best guitarist this side of the Mississippi"(as PT put it)...no kidding! Nuno, well we already know what a good guitarist he is. Nuno said of PT, "The most underrated guitar player, singer, and songwriter of our generation." What a treat. Lots of soloing for us guitar fiddlers to enjoy and respect. My guitar soloing cup is nearly full for the evening. LOL We were also treated to a true ad-lib version of The Pain ("Stony Tuesday..." PT sings Stony Tuesday version that is. ) Fun stuff. Enough about Twisted Sisbox - sounds like the times they have already changed so we expressed our dismay and that will be that. Pat's opinion of the die-hards who were "second-guessing" (or whatever the term was)? Only he knows, but I know for a fact that Pat is aware that alot of die-hards dig Rick and Eric / Eric and Rick (so as to present them equally, jointly known as E-Rick), so I'm sure he understands the rants. happens, life goes on, gREG gets nasty on the web, what the hell are ya gonna do. Eric, I surely hope this don't mean I won't see yer smilin' mug again -- that would be tragic. Same to Rico -- I've been wearing the chain-gang lately(gREG - still got yers?) -- the brotherhood is still alive. Just to put a cap on the strife, I put on PT's solo cd to focus just on PT. He is always as ever, a class act. PS - ginbel, I need an update on what cd's and dvd's are available. Still scraping but need to see and hear them since I missed the shows this time around eme randal@ehmarch.com |

You know what would really be cool, Ed? If Pat would come on here once every few months and simply let us know what's going on with his career as far as new projects and news. He doesn't have to answer questions from us or give away info that he doesn't want to, but it sure would be nice to hear from Pat. I've noticed Glenn Hughes does it on his website and I respect him for that. For that matter, most artists on their website do the same thing. It's a nice touch and a simple way to say "thanks" to all the fans (especially us diehards) who help further his career. What would this take-5 minutes every couple of months? Wadda ya think? |

Arrived home safely. Do not know about the later flights though...? The fog is beginning to get nasty again, visibility looks like it might be like it was Friday - within 15ft on the highway! Ed, once again thank you for everything! "Another PT odyssey" to store in our harddrives. Daryl must have gotten some pretty nice pictures the other night, he had the best...or, perhaps, second best seat in the house. Nice once again seeing you two. That new One Way PTB CD was something, wasn't it? Kathi, the more I think about that pick the more it validates my thinking that I believe it was specially produced for the NAMM show, a rare one indeed. Keep it in its form. I was so exhausted I forgot to add a couple more things about the concert. George Mastas, Nuno Bettencourt, and PT jammed through 4 songs : Born Under A Bad Sign, Statesboro Blues - imagine that one, and the other 2 previously mentioned. I could feel the energy and intensity Pat brought with him on stage from where I was easy, which led me to thinking he was literally going to blow the doors off the place! All I could do was grinn and focus on the task at hand. Shot some nice pictures too, even pics with the boys jamming - a treasure and once in a lifetime event! The stage volume was loud but, the concert was extremely loud!! My ears were ringing then it evolved into white noise (which finally went away a few hours ago) - dangerously loud. Ahh, the Kill Zone... be careful and guard your hearing. We had a couple of people from the audience asking for a copy of the concert...stay tuned. There was one lady in the audience (up close, not in the back) who captured some footage during the PT set. Could that person or anyone who has contact with that individual please contact me at fiftymkii@earthlink.net or Ginbel? Thank you. |

Well gREG, Saxon played them, Motercycle Man and Denim and Leather, wowie!!! And lots more, with the Eagle, it was a party! The venue planned a dance party after Saxon(how stupid can you be?), so the time was to short for Saxon, F$#@!#cking management! Biff said, but they still played almost two hours, haha! Cool! Hé Cin, you will Sin in Amsterdam, we'll try to make that happen! PT-chat tonight? Ed, what makes you think Amsterdam is the coolest(or hottest) place on earth? Don't think PT will ever post on the site, cause he doesn't want to look on the site anyway. Not seeing the good things, not seeing the bad things either. Although it would be nice, so now and then a post, like Glenn Hughes does. But there's no chance PT will, I guess. CU The Dutch Hammerheads |

Hey Ed & Shiva, Glad to see Nuno still givin' PT his props! He's been extremely (pun intended!) vocal to the press about his love for PT's music over the years ever since they released their debut Extreme CD and even had Pat singing a bit on "Get The Funk Out". THANKS Nuno! I REALLY wish that I could have seen THAT show instead of the Seattle Sewer Tour. (okay Wishbox "fan club"...You can start in on me again). Regarding the One Way Records Release...You both mentioned how sweet it was. Does it really sound THAT much better (sonically speaking)? Or were you just elated that someone has finally put that package together and released it? I'm only asking because I have purchased a few One Way Records releases (The Babys & early Sammy Hagar) that were remastered, and I ended up re-selling them and keeping the initial releases because I thought the sound quality was better on the originals. In both instances I found the high end too brittle and the low end lacking. Just curious, and hoping that you two could elaborate on the "sweetness" of the PT One Way. It WOULD be really nice if they got THIS particular release right! For the obvious reasons. Lol! And finally, did we ever get clarification if the man himself gets any cut of the profits? It would be REALLY nice if they got THIS right also! Although I doubt it. Any insight you guys, or anyone for that matter, could pass along regarding this new release would be appreciated. Thanks! On another note, as per Cindy's inquiry a few days ago, here's what's in my car's CD changer.... Jimi Hendrix - The Cry Of Love Scatterbrain - Here Comes Trouble Ozric Tentacles - The Hidden Step Damn The Diva - Debut (From Vancouver, Cindy!) A Perfect Circle - Debut Tommy Bolin - Teaser So there ya' go Cindy! Anybody into trading good quality live recordings (PT or otherwise), please contact me and let's talk! I have tons of stuff! Holland in general is my 2nd favortire place on Earth, My favorite place would be not to far from Holland...the Eifel region of Germany! But Amsterdam is still the coolest place.... Bill, I truly like the sound of the One Way release. Sound's "fresh" to me. But I can't be too critical when it comes to sound. My ears ain't what they used to be. But both albums sound KILLER to me. I asked Pat what they sounded like when he gave me my copy and he said that Heat came out "Great." In the ears of the beholder I guess. Buy it and try it! Anyone care to do an AB comparison? Hmmmm I guess we'd have to do and ABC comparison. Pat also mentioned that Black Pearl and Hot Shot would be released in the same fashion later this year!!! Ed |

And finally. I'm gonna step up to the plate here and say something that I need to say. I have now met and talked with the members of Wishbox enough times to call and consider them my friends. They are the nicest bunch of guys you'd want to meet and are hubmled to have a chance to play with Pat. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed all of the shows that they have been envolved in. They are a tight band and have improved everytime that I have seen them. They play their own set flawlessly and Friday night they had people UP AND DANCIN'! I can sense that the members of Wishbox are troubled and hurt by what is said here on this message board. It pains me when I see this because I do see them more often than most people on this board and do know them as individuals. I can also honestly say that at times I am a little uneasy when talking with them because of what is said here. And that is unfair to me, because I'm trying to like and get along with everyone. I am not trying to get in the middle of everyone or everything that goes on here. Just trying to get along with EVERYONE.... including WISHBOX. I am not the kind of person who draws lines in the sand.... so I LOVE IT when RICK and ERIC play with Pat! Nothing could be better! But you know yesterday I also watched (for the 1st time) the VOCR DVD that Randy recorded. And I enjoyed the HELL out of that!!!! I really liked hearing Pat play all those tunes he did in that project!!!! What a treat! Too me - It's all music. Maybe I just enjoy the music SO much that I forget about all the behind the scenes personal stuff that goes on. If I do and offend anyone by saying that I enjoyed Pat with Wishbox, or with Rick and Eric or with VOCR then there is not much I can do.... I mean if Pat's playin' I'm gonna try and be there and I will most probably enjoy it. |

Hi Everyone!! Ed, I totally agree with you. All of us that know Eric, and Rick, love them dearly, and enjoy that lineup; but we as Pat Travers fans have got to be happy that he is still out there giving it his all, and doing what we want; bottom line-Pat Travers music!! At the Portland show I gave Pat a Harley T-shirt that on the back has the logo for a motorcycle dealer in Vancouver, Wa.; Pat wore it at his next show; he was happy to get a little surprise like that; thought it was really cool. Best wishes to all of you out there. Peace Big Eddie |

Ed I had a chance to watch the show and the vocals were not *quite* as badly lost in the mix as I originally lamanted over it (you remembered how much in a fog I was over it ). I think we might be able to capture and zero-in on the vocal frequencies, in most instances, as Rich mentioned. That jam with Mastas and Nuno was over 26 minutes long!! All on video. I fully agree with Ed about Wishbox. They are a nice group of guys who really go out of their way to come to Pat's aide. Pat breaks a string and Mike replaces it, AND supplies Pat with his LP to finish the song, not to mention his other guitars making the solo acoustic set possible. Their other guitarist unconditionally provides Nuno with his guitar to play and helped out as his roadie (back on stage out of sight) while he jammed the entire time... they have been providing Pat with support at the drop of a hat that he would likely not otherwise have. I do not see others, including PT regulars (with the exception of Ed), providing that amount of help during his performances. I even taped some of their set for the primary purpose of passing it along to them for their own uses as a way of saying thanks - Mike, you can find my addy here or contact Ed for it. Ed and I have seen this band improve considerably. They do all of this without any practice or rehearsing with Pat whatsoever. What Ed left out was the beautiful women this band draws onto the dance floor. Imagine taping a concert with these women dancing around and beside you...Thank you Ed for writing that which was clearly a timely matter that needed to be aired. Nuno certainly admires Pat - he made this known to everyone in the house both verbally and nonverbally. (I have never seen that too, Ed!) He was really into the whole jam. You gotta love Nuno!! Would it not be awesome to see the two of them get together on that project coming up in February...would be nice to see that happen! Regarding the One Way REMASTERED release of Puttin' and Heat...ASAP I plan on doing an A-B-C of the CD's. However, in contemplation over it, I am wondering if it is of much use since the only true judge of how they *should* sound can only truely be judged by Pat and Pat did say that Heat sounded "great!" We listened to it and continued to open the system up as we both continued to grin and rock-out while it was playing. I could hear no "tape hiss", etc. and I *know* my hearing is excellent (even after that loud concert). The inside cover and backside had pics I have never seen before, lyrics, and liner notes written by Pat last November! The CD label was equally impressive. I will undoubtedly be purchasing it. |

Wow, Pat on Fri, a gig of my own on Sat, and the Dregs tonight! Man, I think I'm gonna collapse! Just wanted to throw a few more things into the mix about Fri night's show. First, PT freakin' ROCKED! His guitar playing was simply on fire, I think, due to the more "jamminess" of the show, in contrast to the usual regular setlist of a PTB show. Second, we got to hear FULL versions of Rock & Roll Susie, and Gettin' Betta! Haven't heard those played live in their entirety since the Jerry Riggs days! And last, as for Wishbox, someone stated they were a bunch of amateurs; this is simply not true. They are quite decent players, and did a good job backing up Pat. Hell, they pulled off Gettin Betta! Did it have the same energy as NYE with the band? No. But highly enjoyable, nonetheless, and even without the cool jam, I would not have felt dissapointed. We got the 2 tunes mentioned, acoustic Stevie & Elijah, an opening rockin version of Dylan's Highway 61, some cool Hendrix covers, & of course, Boom Boom & Snortin Whiskey! It was cool to see Pat in a different context than the usual PTB show, not better, but just different. As a fan of his for so many years, I definitely enjoyed it. And the jam WAS cool, but Nuno wasn't loud enough! I didn't particularly care for Wishbox's original set, but that's my taste. A little too 80's, slick, big vocals for me. But hey, some folks like that stuff... And on another note, the Dregs were amazing tonight, and I even got to meet 2 of my idols, Roger Glover & Ian Paice of Deep Purple, after the show! 2 very nice chaps indeed! Cheers! Steve Z |

OK...OK....after reading my e-mail this morning.... let me clear up some things. This goes out to "You know who you are" Look - when I say I like the guys in Wishbox it does DOES NOT mean that I DISLIKE Rick and Eric!! When I say that I enjoyed a few shows with Pat and WISHBOX it does not mean that I want Pat to dump all other projects and take off with them. When I say that the members of WISHBOX are my friends it does not mean that I can not be friends with anyone else. I'm 47 years old and I've been around long enough to make quite a a few friends in my life and I don't want to answer to anybody for my choices! If I make a friend that someone HERE does not like, then, well I think that it is YOU who are the jackball buddy. Think about it - I'm just trying to make a friends and you are just looking for more enemies. Who do you think you are critising my choice of friends?!? I maintain that Wishbox are a nice buch of guys and I am happy to call them my freinds. I don't look at them up on stage and see them as taking over anyone's job. I look at them as a band who is doing a job as best they can. They are trying to keep everything civil. Do they come on this board and trash anybody here? No. They could but they don't. I'm sorry that I am so upset. But I do get blamed for quite a bit of what gets said here. Even though someone else is writing it. And have been accused of disguising certain persons at shows so as not to piss anyone off. It's all gone too far. I am just Ed and I love to go to PT shows for the SHEER ENJOYMENT OF THEM!!! Finally, I started this site as a tribute to PT and his career. It was never intended to be a Trash and Burn site for people to harass and insult fellow members. I can tell you Pat ain't too happy about what's been going on lately. I ain't whistling Dixie either. Peace out! |

Whew! That's better- now that I got that off my chest.... WOW! The Dregs ROCKED! World class musicians! I just kept standing there last night thinking... How do they remember all this stuff? I wish I had the huevos to introduce myself to Ian and Roger and also Don Airey but I chose to sit back and just gaze upon the greatness that was in the room. PT in San Antonio in T minus 5 days!! I got the money in my pocket! I got the car keys in my hand! I got myself a couple of tickets! To see a rock and roll event! And the last thing I will say on this subject ever, even if provoked: None of us have any business giving Ed $H1T about the fill-in band issue! I have stayed out of the band vs. band debacle except to say that I am saddened to see Rick & Eric, or just Eric as it sounds, leave the band. Can't we all just get along?! Later...Jim

Quote:By Blur on Saturday, January 18, 2003 - 04:27 pm: You know what would really be cool, Ed? If Pat would come on here once every few months and simply let us know what's going on with his career as far as new projects and news. He doesn't have to answer questions from us or give away info that he doesn't want to, but it sure would be nice to hear from Pat. I've noticed Glenn Hughes does it on his website and I respect him for that. For that matter, most artists on their website do the same thing. It's a nice touch and a simple way to say "thanks" to all the fans (especially us diehards) who help further his career. What would this take-5 minutes every couple of months? Wadda ya think?
I'm not saying this is the case with Glenn - but I know that some bands have staff go on the band's websites and post things to the nessage boards in their name. This is usually the case with big name bands. Now in the case of this board - you don't have to wonder if it's Pat... |

Just placed an order for the new One Way reissue at http://www.deepdiscountcd.com for $9.97, no tax and free shipping! I've ordered from this place before, and honestly, they don't always come through, but they DO have the cheapest prices around! Hopefully, they will be able to get this one out! Ed, ABSOLUTELY, you can video my Feb show, we'd love to have that. The stage is a bit low, not much higher than the Foxx Club, so bring a tall tripod! Thanks again for the Dregs tickets link, I had quite a few friends get in on that too, and everyone dug the show! Tell Mr. LaRue we thank him, too! Cheers! Steve Z |

Hey King Ed, I'm with Texas Jim when he says nobody should give you flack about anything on this board! None of this would be possible without all the effort you've put in over the years. Don't know who it was that sent you that private email, and I don't wanna know, but you stated your case very well. Everybody's got opinions about music. After all, it is a subjective topic, but to give YOU crap because of who you're friends with? It ain't right. While I've expressed my views about one particular show I personally didn't like, I certainly don't begrudge anyone else that may think otherwise. Don't let the bastards grind you down, Ed! |

Ed-do we really get ALL the pertinent news pertaining to PT? I appreciate all that you and Bruce and Rich and others do to get the word out. But honestly at this point in Pat's career I feel like it's easier to get into Area 51 than find out EXACTLY what's going on. I've felt like this for years now. Some gigs we don't find out about until after they have been played. Does anyone know about the new material and a possible cd? Is the Aldridge/Cowling DVD a one-time deal or could they tour together? I know Pat isn't playing to sold out arenas any longer but it sure would be nice to know what's going on consistently. AGAIN, I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING YOU DO. THANK GOD FOR THIS SITE! I'm just a frustrated PT fan who can never get enough of his music and I hope he never stops! |

Steve, I have had problems with that company as well. I was going to save this for when I had more details but, I have a response from One Way Records regarding the Remastered Heat & Puttin' CD about the "Signature Series". Their marketer stated, "You can purchase this CD from www.amazon.com. As for directing people from PT's site, you can point them to the same." I for one have already placed my order with amazon.com. I noted that when you place your order there is no way knowing for certain that you are ordering the "Signature Series" as opposed to the other non-signature one(no price difference, etc.).? I would like to consider this post on this topic 1 of 2 or 3. Hopefully, I will have further information from them and as soon as I do I will pass along that info to this site.! Hope that helps. Wish I could be listening to that CD right now...Ed you lucky duck. LOL! "Is the Aldridge/Cowling DVD a one-time deal or could they tour together?" I knew it was just a matter of time before this was going to emerge... Pat said the DVD project was going to be a one-shot live performance(of course they will have to rehearse prior to the performance). |

Thanks for the info, Mr. Tonemonster! I figured I'd see if/what I got from Deep Discount, and if it's just the regular issue, then I would try to find the "Signature" issue in the store & get it too. One other question on this for you, if you remember, or for Ed who has the bugger in his hands: It appears from the online sites that the song order of Putting It Straight is wrong, are they listing it correctly? Thanks to all those who provide the info! :-) Cheers! Steve Z |

So wait... Nancy and I were discussing this... Pat signed... 2,500 copies? By hand? WOW!!! He better chill on that cr@p or he will get a REAL serious hand cramp! LOL! Why 2 CDs on one for $11.99? I think his fans would gladly have paid $11.99 each and invest more in artwork? Oh well, at least finally some much deserved respect and distribution. I think I'll buy mine regular and have him sign it at a show. Means more that way anyway. Actually I think you CAN get more info from Area 51 than Pat, but that keeps it more fun... right? Life is more fun if you make it up as you go along. As Pat said..."Plan A... there is no plan. Plan B... see Plan A" LOL! |

Steve, One thing about this CD - at least mine - is that Windows Media Player (version 8) does not contain any track info or album art. Bummer! But the song list goes like this: 1. Life 2. Gettin 3. Runnin' 4. Off Beat 5. It Ain't What It Seems 6. Lovin' You 7. Dedication 8. Speakeasy So they did change around the songs a bit... 9. Heat 10. Killer's Instinct 11. I Tried To Believe 12. Hammerhead 13. Go All NIght 14. Evie 15. Prelude 16. One For Me... Wow 16 songs! Talk about a bargain! Remember...the last one of the 2500 Pat signed upside down. He told me he signed the first 2250 in one sitting and it took approximately 7 hours!!! I wonder how many autographs Pat has signed over the years!?! |

Hey Brian Maybe, I think I may have an answer for you regarding the track listing confusion on the new One Way release. This issue goes WAY back. On the LP, the sequence is wrong on the back of the jacket from how the album itself is actually sequenced. The Japanese released CD has the correct sequence on the back of the jewel box insert, which doesn't have the artwork, but if you look at the backside of the sleeve behind the front cover on the inside, you'll see again that the sequence is wrong, just like on the LP jacket. I'm sure what One Way has done is replicate the artwork from the LP jacket, not realizing that the sequence is off. So this all stems from way back to 1977 when Polydork got it wrong to begin with. Myself, I've always wondered if the sequence on the LP jacket might have been the original intended sequence, and was changed after the art was done, or if it was just a typo error on behalf of the graphics division as they were laying it out for printing..... On another note, has anybody seen the new Japanese issue Thin Lizzy 5 CD boxset with mini-lp sleeve reproduction and digital remastering? Absolutely amazing! And the sound is to die for! We should all bombard that company about giving Ol' PT the same treatment! |

Blur, The only thing that I can say is that nobody knows EXACTLY what is going on in anyone else's life! If you think you do then you are mistaken! Now for info regarding Pat's tour scehdule and future releases you'll just have to tune into your regularly scheduled program. That's why this website exists. We try to bring you the most important up to date info that we possibly can. Sometimes shows are posted many months in advance and sometimes on a day's or two notice. It's the nature of the rock and roll beast that we're dealing with. That said...I don't think that Pat wants his life to be an open book on the internet. We "invade" his privacy often and he is most gracious in allowing us to do so. So - what is it that you would like to know about Pat? Maybe we can answer you question or get the answer for you... ummm .. yeah what does Pat eat for breakfast? Just kidding. On the taping... I asked Pat about that before and he said "as long as I don't see it for sale on the internet." I am sure he would rather you did not tape and from what I have seen Pat is too busy to notice or care and it is usually the club owner/managers that tell you to stop. Probably best to get permission before starting or at least be sneaky enough to not have it known that you are taping. So the REAL question is... When the heck is Pat comin' back to the east coast? You westerners are "bogarting that joint my friend!" I might have to move to San Diego or something.... |

I don't want you guys to think I'm some sort of stalker or freak. I know Pat needs his space just like everyone else. I'm certainly not suggesting that PT turn into an internet geek. I just think it would be cool if he took a bit more interest in using the internet as a tool to get his name and products out there a bit more. Ed, you do an awesome job with this site and I know the pay isn't that great. ;) Same for you Rich and Bruce and Cindy and everyone else. I know Pat is appreciative of all your efforts. Don't forget you've also got to deal with the venue staff as well. Some venues have a no taping policy and they really stick to it. You can have the band's road manager, the band, and George W. Bush telling them that it's OK to tape the show and the venue won't let you. I think the venue is concerned about others in the audience complaining about the taper getting in the way. The best thing to do is to try and find out from the band's management if it's OK. If they say yes, then call the venue and ask them if it's OK. Once again, if they say yes, you're all set. If either says no - you've got to go stealth mode and take a chance on having your equipment confiscated (you usually can get it back after the show). However, this scenario applies more to big venues. Pat usually plays at clubs, so it will probably be a lot easier if you have to go stealth mode. Of course, if you let Pat know that you're going to supply Ginbels with a copy of the tape - that might help (Rich? Whatdya say?). I was close enough to touch Pat's feet for most of the show last summer and he didn't say a single word to me about filming him. In fact, at times I could of sworn that he specifically turned toward me so that I would be able to get a good shot. Randy |

Pam/Houstonmuler....and anyone else interested in taping a live PT show.....Rich (TX tour guy), for what it's worth, thanks for at least being willing to "ask" before stealthing or stealing a performance on tape. As we should all know, the ticket price for a concert does not include live recordings.....it's for the experience of the live show, the meet and greet, the party that you're paying for. Pat cares very much what is recorded and ends up in the hands of hundreds of fans and if it goes beyond that. On the last tour he was more than disappointed in a particular rogue DVD we got our hands on....and he said he wish he could control stuff like that. His ONLY concern is that a quality product exists, it's NOT that he's worried about the "millions" he may have missed out on. We're not talking a mass produced product here...it may only be 50 tapes among PT fans, but if the quality is below par for any logistical reason.....he cares! Although I booked the Texas shows, I'm not here to say Yes or NO on recording Pat's show.....I will get a confirmation from Pat today on the issue. He's the most easy-going, coolest people still playing great rock & roll........whatever he says, I would hope we all respect it. Pictures are NO problem at any Texas show, ask for me TX Rich if ANY venue gives you trash about a camera. The meet and greet time at shows is just for pictures and getting as much of PT as ya want.....he's very fan oriented! Hope to see you all at a Texas gig......and stay tuned for Pat's comments on taping his shows. Rock Hard...Always, Rich in TX |

Hey Rich, Thanks for finding out for me. I will make him the same deal I made mark May when he let me start taping him. I will send Pat the disc once completed and it will be his call if it goes on the list. I do not have a problem keeping a show off the list if that is the wish of the band. I would never spread a show that has problems. If I get a bad show, because someone else does not care, I call them on it and dump it. I agree that for trading to help the band it has to be quality music being sent out. Moreover, I don't believe in stealthing. I think it is stealing but that it just my 2 cents on that... UPDATE!!...on recording live PT shows!!! I just got off of the phone with PT and we discussed fans recording his shows. He says...."I would prefer they did not do that." Being in charge of the Texas gigs I will say this.....don't get caught doing it. Now that Pat has set the record straight and asked fans NOT to record his shows, I will ask venues to enforce it. We can still party down, take pictures, get autographs and share a drink but NO recording! Those of you in north-east Texas....look for PT on TV "Live at 5pm" afternoon show!! Ed & Rockpig, thanks for the replies. Yeah, I do remember on my old vinyl copy of Puttin It Straight, the wrong tracklisting on the back! So yeah, that could explain it, but now Ed, does the actual running order when you play the thing, match what's listed, or is it in the same order as the vinyl & original CD actually played? From memory, I think that would be: Life In London Ain't What It Seems Speakeasy Runnin From The Future Lovin You Gettin Betta Off Beat Ride Dedication Just curious, I will of course, find out for myself when I get the darned thing! :-) Cheers! How cool would a PT "Behind The Music" on VH1 be? I bet it would be as intruiging as any we've seen. London, Hemming, the controversy from "Snortin'" and the promotional mirrors, lawsuits, bankruptcy, record company shaft job, personal turmoil, rebirth, etc. And to think through it all Pat NEVER stopped rocking! PT is a special breed. I can't think of another artist who has been through so much but never stopped delivering musically. |

There certainly is a compelling enough story... however, I think the sad truth (for us, at least) is that PT just doesn't quite have a big enough name for VH1 to do it. In fact, maybe the fact that he has been able to pull through it all cleanly, in spite of all the setbacks, makes him less compelling. No stories of drunken road rage, fights with police, drug rehab, unexplained dead bodies in the trunk... He's basically just a decent, hard working guy. Randy |

Tonemonster.....thanks wildman! I'm a fan like everybody else here. Making PT shows happen here in Texxas is out of frustration over "professional" booking agents sitting on thier collective asses or booking the "flavor of the day" bands. Regarding classic ass-stompin music, the fans are gonna have to bring it back, promote it, book it and make the party happen. Agents, today's lame radio and record companies have forgotten that 35-45 year old rockers still love PT, Thin Lizzy, Blackfoot, Robin Trower, etc...Randy, I do not know who Rich Stansell is or what he's done with Pat's music but I will talk about it with him. If Pat knows him and what he can do I'm sure possibilities are there. PT just doesn't want a bunch of pirated recordings floating around....as an artist he prefers to have control over the end result, no matter how many fans will have it in thier collection. If the music was my creation, I would feel the same way. Jim and greg......I have your passes at the door and the drinks are me! Tonight is studio with the boys, tomorrow is an ass-whippin in Corpus Christi....PT Style! Love to all of ya and the BBQ is in TEXAS! Texas Rich |

hey gREG, you have a problem... I saw on CNN that some of your puppeteers have been recruited to a "Lifestyles" T.V. show with Barbar Walters about the plight of middle America and the ever inceasing cost of GOOD plastic surgery and demographical ramifications to the exploited house husbands and thus are no longer available. So it looks like you are going to be short handed. The other option you have is that some of the puppets could be represented through the use of 3D holligraghy. This way it would look as if they were there. Naturally this would add to your already multimillion dollar budget for this project. |

Hey Rockpig! -I hear ya on the OneWay stuff. They sonically butchered the Babys and John Waite re-issues. Thin bottom and harsh brittle high end. They even reversed the channels in regards to left being right and vice versa. The first pressing of John Waite's Ignition/No Brakes from OneWay had terrible DAT master tape problems. The beginning of "Going To The Top" sounded like the tape was going to break! They did fix it (after numerous e-mails from me to OneWay who eventually got EMI involved to provide them with a new DAT master tape). I'm still thankful they exist as my records were wearing out and having missed the mid 80's release of all of these on CD. As for Pat Travers on OneWay, I'm also thankful they exist and hopefully more releases of his back catalog are to come. Rich and Nancy -you did your best and your extensive efforts are probably the reason that the OneWay deal came to fruition. Bottom line is that Pat's back catalog is getting the "shop presence" he deserves! Did I hear this right? That Black Pearl and Hot Shot are the next two-fer coming out on cd. WOW!!! To this day, I've yet to hear a vinyl copy of Hot Shot that doesn't sound fuzzy on the last 2 songs of each side. Especially Tonight and Night Into Day. The Ginbels version was probably the cleanest, but still a little fuzzy. Quick question to Rich and Nancy: Any copies of Heat In The Street and Puttin' It Straight left? I'd like to get them to complete my Ginbel collection. Erik.........e-mail me ! |

gREG, Thank you. An NYE pic for the teasing. Missingmars, A couple of days ago when Rockpig brought up the point, I figured on loading up the John Waite (one of my all-time favorite singers) One Way releases. Coincidentally, I purchased a pair of studio monitor headphones, for other purposes, the same day - it was in the cards. While listening to them I felt the same way and fully agree with your sonic evaluation of those re-releases. But, I kept thinking to myself (while listening to them), "Is this or is this not the way those albums originally sounded like?" I seemed to remember, and I could be wrong, them (from the last time I listened to my phono player years ago) being full of presence and bright with somewhat of a weak and flat bottom-end. I can certainly say that I was carefully listening for this when Ed and I listened to PT's Heat & Puttin' One Way release on the system along with any tape hiss ( most of what we were listening to that time was Heat, it was the first one to make an impression with me, then spent some time listening to Puttin'). I can confidentally say that Heat did not sound "weak", brittle or harsh. So much so that I was a bit surprised. So, how does one evaluate these re-releases(especially in light of newer technology advances for louder bass systems)? Compare them to the original releases? their album counterparts? what they could sound like? It almost becomes a pandora's box. Interesting note about the DAT problems. BTW, I do appreciate your thoughts and your hearing - yours is a good ear. Yes, you did read that correctly. Pat said they will be also remastering Black Pearl & Hot Shot for distribution this SUMMER!! Yet another reason why I would like to hear from One Way Records. I have not yet received further info from One Way Records about PT's release. I will continue to try to get through. Part of the reason why I got my John Waite and The Baby's re-releases out was to find out who remastered them. Interesting to note that each band had different Remasters. The John Waite re-releases were done by Jimmy Starr, The Baby's by Rodney Mills Masterhouse. PT's Heat & Puttin' release was done by Jimmy Starr. One Way Records marketer told me that they have a contract with him to do their remastering and the original master tapes from the major label are used to remaster them to 32-bit technology ( about all the info they would pass along to me). |

Shiva, Thanks for the thumbs up on the PT OneWay of Heat In The Street/Puttin' It Straight. Release date is listed as 1/28/3 on Yahoo Shopping and is selling for $10.48 (Signed Limited Edition) from Modern Rock and CD Universe. The regular version is also available at about a dollar less! On the comparasion side of things, you are right. It is sort of a pandora's box, but we as people do have preferences (opinions). I do comparisions all the time. A good portion of my album collection is still in quite good shape. I actually fool people in thinking that the album I am playing is actually a cd. What I am finding with a lot of re-issues on CD projects is increased high end and diminished low end. It's the aged old complaint of us vinyl worshipers that a lot of CDs just don't have the warmth of albums. Downside is that it takes about $1,000 to get that sound (receiver excluded) and then the records wear out on you. Not to mention the meticulous cleaning of the record and the stylus. CDs just rule for convenience and longevitiy. The OneWay sonic flaws on the John Waite/Baby reissues are numerous. From tape stretching, pops, clicks, to some tracks being snipped at the end (Missing You). These could have been prevented if the person in charge was actually listening to the final product. Time is definitely not on our side though, with these two track masters being stored on DAT tape. That was the problem on the John Waite Ignition/No Brakes CD. What I suggested they do was to use the original CD that was put out in the mid 80's and remaster that. Maybe that's how they fixed it. Another interesting note on the John Waite Ignition/No Brakes fix was that while they fixed some things (not all), some new flaws surfaced that were not on the first release from OneWay. Oh well, since I have both 1st and 2nd pressings from OneWay (as well as some compilations of John's on CD), I'll compile my ownperfect CD-R on my computer. |

On the CD subject... I have yet to listen to the One Way releases, but in general CDs of OLDER recordings are harsh and much less warm and inviting. The reason for this (at least in theory) is that when artists and engineers laid down the tracks the complete wave form of the recording was not fully replicated. Furthermore in the analog relm frequencies are not normally represented evenly across the spectrum. In addition "attacks" and wave form variances are sharp and spontaneous in the digital world. This adds a level of coloring across the board. The fantastic thing about digital processing is that it is pure. The down side is that ALL information is represented in a flat line. Unfortunately for older recordings the artist/engineer never intended it to be heard that way. Indeed until digital it never was heard that way. The very best way to listen to a digital recording of an older analog source is through a tube amp set up. Tubes are warm and react slowly like a light bulb. Transistors fire on and off like a gun. VERY good solid state amps use VERY expensive capacitors to compensate for that harshness. In my opinion the order for listening quality goes something like this... analog recording(vinyl) = tube set up = number 1, analog recording(vinyl) + transistor set up = number 2, digital source + tube set up = number 3, finally digital source = transistor set up = last. Obviously you have to deal with a considerable amount of junk with vinyl. I just mean the tonality and overall sound quality is better. I used to think that was the dumbest thing I had ever heard. I have since proven myself wrong(damn I HATE that!). Really the challenges that face the engineer with these old recordings is to maintain the "warmth" of the original. You have to hear it as it was meant to be heard and THEN match those results digitally. Hopefully One Way Records has/is taking the time to preserve what was meant to be heard and not just digitally transferred the information. You can compensate for some of this on your home system via equlization, but you cannot fix the attack/decay portion of the equation. Either way I look forward to getting the entire collection and I am heading to Best Buy today to get mine! |

Hey MissingMars, Glad to hear that it's not just me that thought the OneWay issues lacked attention to detail. Regarding The Babys, you should definitely get the original Chrysalis issues. They're out there on Ebay from time to time, and ironically, since the OneWay reissues have come out, the prices for the Chrysalis issues have dropped dramatically! Before OneWay, it was not uncommon for the originals to fetch upwards to $60.00, but now I'm seeing them around $12.00 to $20.00, and less. I'm guessing the masses are thinking "Reissued & remastered! It's gonna sound better!" That's what I thought at first. So everybody seems to be passing up on the originals and going after the OneWay discs. So now would be a good time to search them out.... I'm a firm believer that Japanese issued CD's are MUCH better quality regarding sonics, clarity and warmth. I've been replacing my domestic discs with Jap issues for some time now. A prime example was a recent acquisition of a Jap remastered copy of Jimi Hendrix's "Cry Of Love". This has always been my favorite Hendrix disc, and when I finally found the Jap issue and gave it a spin.....Well! I heard things that I had NEVER heard before in the mix! It was like listening to it for the first time all over again! Utterly amazing, the difference. Same with the newly released Thin Lizzy Jap issues. So that's the course I've taken... Jap issues! Of course not everything is available, but you'd be amazed at what actually is out there. I've found some releases that were never released in the U.S.! Two really good examples are Pat's "Putting It Straight" & "Heat In The Street", but there are countless others. You just gotta search, be persistent and patient. On another note...not PT related... Has anybody seen the previews of the new Ozzy Pepsi Twist commercial that will be shown during the Superbowl? It's so funny my sides were hurting from laughter. If you can imagine Ozzy, Jack & Kelly in the same 30 second commercial with Donnie & Marie Osmond and Florence Henderson (Mrs. Brady of the Brady Bunch)well...you already get an idea how surreal it's gonna be. DO NOT MISS THIS COMMERCIAL! It'll have you rolling on the floor! We now return to our regularly scheduled PT program..... |

Good post Rockpig! Yeah, do remember seeing John's Mask of Smiles Chyrsalis CD going for $150 >?? THAT is a rare one on Chyrsalis CD. CD's just have not matched the warmth of vinyls. But, the other factors make it unattractive unfortunately. I am one that cannot stand the true single coil sound - the cycle-hum drives me nuts. Will not play through anything digital going through the input, must be all analog. "you cannot fix the attack/decay portion of the equation." took the words right out my mouth Ginbel, exactly. Thank you for saying that. Just one reason amongst others why I am more interested in what the artist intended it to sound like rather than some remaster person who may or may not be preserving the artists musical impressions throughout. Tubes rule! Transistors druell. Agree, though those systems cost quite a bit. I even thought about that route some time ago but defeated the idea. It would rather they just have these releases go through the artist but that would take time and $$$. I hope we made it clear that our impressions of Heat were not based on a pair of studio monitor quality headphones. Had to say that as I can hear some tape problems with John Waite's Mask of Smiles One Way re-release with my studio monitor headphones on. Still sweet having these 2 albums combined onto one cd. |

I just had three carafes of wine with some friends and I come home to this! I listen to all my stuff through a 1980 Pioneer SX-6 reciever/preamp and a 1980 Akai AP-B20 turntable with four Infinity SL-10's and two 22 year old Realistic 15" woofer 3-ways! I had to get up and look! If it is digital and not analog, I don't know! I think all my albums sound kick ass! Snaps, crackles, pops and all!! I think most of my cd's sound great! I actually can tell a difference in several! All bull s**t aside, Ginbel's remaster of Pat Travers Debut and Makin' Magic just about made me suck my front teeth down my throat!! I am still hearing s**t in those two that I had never heard!! Ginbel's Rock! (see my website for further proof of this!) Point is this: I know what I like! I don't know if it is the best, but I like it! That being said, I am drunk! I just spent four hours with my three best friends in the whole world, minus one! He is going to San Antonio with me on Saturday! I don't personally know one person from this board, but I consider most, if not all of you, some of the coolest, most-likely-to-want-to-hang-out-with people I know! Or don't know, whichever the case may be! Know this - As long as I have an address, any of you have a place to park your ass for the night, weekend, or what-have-you!! And although I don't, I should thank Ed every f**king night for making it all possible! I can't put into words how appreciative I am for having the ability to talk to people in Yakima, San Francisco, Phoenix, Canada, Maryland, Florida, Houston, Atlanta, and who knows where else every single day!! And all because of and due to Pat Travers!!! This internet s**t rules!! Enough drunken rambling! You can all proceed to make fun of me now! Let the berating begin!! Later...Jim This Whole Board & |

Thanks Rockpig for the correccion Ha! I think I must have been drinking some of the same wine Jim got his hands on... I am bummed right now that I am not going to those Texas shows. Would have been a nice reason to visit that hospitable state again - "if you gotta have a reason to.." This PT experience can get quite expensive, right Ed?! LOL! |

What is wierd is that the "One Way" (one of them) is listed as coming out in 2001. I KNEW they had done this before and heard it was not good. Maybe they fixed it this time or my informatin was incorret. Either way... all good things must come to an end... we are no longer selling the Polydork CDs and DVDs. We are strictly legit now. ALL the items we sell are real and not bootlegs. Bring on the pirates. Hopefully One Way will do everything SOON. We always said.."When someone else does this, we won't". Took long enough!! NOW we can work full time on the vast pile of material we have accumulated from various sources and ALL of it is on the up and up! Woooo Hooo!!! Peace Out! |

Hey everybody, Have a GREAT time in Texas!! Give Pat the reception he deserves; he will kick yer ass with some great guitar licks if ya ask for it (as if you wouldn't!) We're all with you in spirit! Cheers! Steve Z PS Rich, Ken, etc... I like the discussion on the One Way releases and sound quality. I have copies of the Japanese Puttin & Heat that I picked up at the Galaxy show back in '01 (right?), and I'm gonna give 'em the A/B test with the new One Way disc once I get it! |

I make sure to check the page at least one a day to avoid having to read the equivalent of War and Peace every other day . . . write on, you key punching bastards! jbeseau, I'm in San Diego For all you Texas Hammerheads: "He thinks he's real bad. He thinks he's badder than Shaft, Superfly, James Bond and Kung Fu all put together. But I got news for him: They don't call me the Texas Homewreckin' Heartbreaker for nothin'" (name that non-PT tune) you're in for an ass-kicking at the hands of Mister Patrick Henry Travers -- I only hope there's a band there to back him up GO BUCS (except that Grudin can kiss my ass) BUCS RULE - Faider Nashin Drools |

Heads up to all who are interested in purchasing the new OneWay Reissue! A few days ago, that drunken fool friend of ours, Beseau, posted that BestBuy.com had this release, (the signed limited edition, at that) for $5.99 + free shipping. It seemed too good to be true. Obviously a typo on their part, but I figured "What the heck. Let's try it". So I placed my order. (I needed this disc like another hole in the head, since I already own Japanese versions of both releases. Hey! I'm a PT completeist, what can I say?) Anyway, the next day I get a confirmation from BestBuy. So I'm thinkin' "Okay...cool so far". Well, today I get home from work, crack open a frosty, and log on to check and see if our buddy Jim is still alive (Good to know that he is!) and I get another email from BestBuy that my item has been shipped today! SO..........Apparently it's a REAL DEAL folks! My suggestion, if you're interested in getting it, is to get yourself to the BestBuy site right now and get your copy ordered before their accountants catch on and bump the price up! Total cost with tax was $6.46 for this disc! And it was the signed Limited Edition copy! How do you beat that? A couple of days ago I sent Jimbo a private email offering to buy him a couple of drinks as a return favor for passing along the cost saving tip, but from the looks of last night's post, I think he just couldn't wait! LOL! Thanks again for the tip Bro, and I'm glad to hear you're among the living again! Concrete Blonde tomorrow night here in Seattle! Lookin' forward to that! Have a great weekend, everyone.......... |

I've been listening to this CD since the 17th and I have to say that I like it. As a matter of fact I like it a lot. It's almost worn out!!! And - I know you guys are gonna tear it up with AB tests and what not. But the whole idea of the thing is to ENJOY IT! Please relish the moment.... how long have we waited for Puttin' and Heat to be released IN THE STATES? I can tell you one of my proudest moments was when Pat handed me this release. Not because he gave it to me but because I knew for sure that it was finally going to happen. In the CD player right now: Mountain - Climbing I wonder where my six-pack of Bitburger Pils will lead me to next? Anyone here like Ty Tabor? I think I'm in the mood for some of that: Naomi's Solar Pumpkin'

In the word of Butthead: "YYYYYEEEEESSSSS!!" The One Way disc arrived last night, signed, number 1740! Very nice indeed! It is blasting away here at work while I type, until my co-workers arrive, and I'll have to settle on a "reasonable" volume! It sounds great, Pat's liner notes are great, the live pics are great (although as already mentioned, it would be nice if they were a bit BIGGER!), the whole thing is just very cool indeed! Now on to the nitpicking... what's with the order of the Puttin it Straight songs?? What they went by, it seems, is the order of the lyric insert on the original vinyl! That is the same as the back of the album jacket, except Ain't What It Seems and Off Beat Ride are switched. But this is where it gets weird... the lyrics inside the new CD are the correct order as the playing order on the vinyl! Some serious smokin of stuff going on at One Way! Anyway, still great to have this, and I hope they do come through with the rest of the catalog! Cheers! Steve Z |

So I ordered the 'Limited' cd from Best Buy last week and received my BACKORDERED email this week. Am I out of luck on getting a signed copy? At $6.50 for both albums on one CD, I won't complain either way. Also, did I read a posting from the other day correct stating that PT was headed into the studio? Gary |

Okay, call me a cheap @$$ but I looked on the Bestbuy site last night and the cd's are still $5.99 but no longer are listed as "Limited Editions". I ordered two more for friends. The worst that can happen is Bestbuy refunds my money, right!? I'm thinking if I was a web designer/moderator/html guru, I would be contacting Bestbuy to manage their e-commerce site, as someone has cost them a few bucks!! But wait until we all get our cd's!!! Later...Jim
