I tried ordering one of the $5.99 Puttin'/Heat CDs from Bestbuy, however, I couldn't complete the order because they don't ship to APO addresses (addresses for US military stationed overseas).

Would someone please order me a copy and mail it to me? Of course, I'll cover all the costs (or maybe we could work a trade and I'll send you a DVD from my trade list).

My email is guitarbill@hotmail.com

Thanks,

Randy

Wanted to ask everyone to say a short prayer for the Shuttle Team Columbia. Being a NASA employee and PT fan thought it couldn't hurt to ask you all for a prayer for the family of these astronauts!!

Bon Jovi tickets at the HP start at 45 - 70.00 HP is about 20 minutes from my home, awesome show last year with them!

Off to work, take care everyone!

Jimbo! Put that wine bottle down, get off the phone with Veronica, and give us that Texas review! LOL!

Any UFO fans out there? I'm sure there probably are....
Lots happening in their camp. Most of you UFO fans probably know that when they reformed to do the Walk On Water release, Michael Schenker insisted that everybody in the band sign a contract that they couldn't perform under the UFO moniker unless both Michael & Phil were in the line up. Well, we all know about Michael's instability and failure to finish a tour for the last several years. When Michael would walk, it effectively shut down the tour and prevented the other guys from getting a replacement (Chapman or Kollman or anybody) to continue touring. Well, it has now been officially reported that Schenker has quit (again!) and given up his 50% of the UFO name, thus allowing the rest of the band to continue as UFO. Now here's the kicker....Pete Way is currently touring his latest solo effort with Paul Chapman on guitar! Hmmmmm....coincidence? We can only hope some sort of reunion is in the works......

Ed, are you confusing the Columbia with the Challenger explosion from back in '85 or '86?

Good to see the evidence of brisk sales on the PT One Way release! How about everyone avoiding the mad rush of moneygrabbers that have swamped Ebay with this release, and order yours directly from somewhere else? Just a thought. These same moneygrabbers are the ones that snatch up the close seats at the hot concerts and then try to make a fast buck at Ebay when the shows sell out. I'm all for free commerce, but when someone on the East coast (or wherever) buys tickets to a show in an entirely different part of the country, that you KNOW they won't attend, that's an issue! It only inflates an already inflated ticket price! I'm always pleased when I watch their auctions and the tickets don't sell, and then the greedy bastard is stuck with tix to a show he can't make, and he's shelled out over $100.00.......

Somebody, (possibly TraversTravelers?) mentioned Eric Johnson....When I lived in Houston way back in 1979, I used to see a then unknown (outside of Texas, anyway) Eric Johnson every Thursday night for $5.00 and all the beer you could drink at the Whiskey River Club! You bet your ass I was there every week! He used to use two Twin Reverbs sitting up on bar chairs and he was very timid, but would just wail and blow your mind. I knew way back then that he'd make it someday. Years later, around 1992, I saw him in Memphis and I was talking to him after soundcheck, getting some things signed and I asked him if he remembered those gigs. His reply was, "Oh, sure! Those were some of my favorite gigs, because that club would let me play whatever I wanted! You were at those shows? Wow! Thanks!" What Eric was referring to was, as I mentioned it was 1979, and it was the height of Disco mania and hardly any clubs were booking live talent because everybody (well, not ME!) just wanted to shake their groove thang to the disco beat, so DJ's were much cheaper than hiring a band.... Damn! Things haven't really changed all that much since then, have they?

Jimbo! Give us the Texas report!

And as always...PTB is king!

This whole Schenker, UFO thing is so up and down, I wish he could make up his mind. Since his guitar smash in Japan a few years ago and his England debacle of the same, going Christian, and the beard he has, maybe JUST maybe, he could do a great album again, since his other intentions are such a priority. Any Whitesnake- Aldridge updates out there from the tour.

Ooops! Sorry Ed, That was London's post, about five posts below. 'Scuse me!

Ed, you know the BOC. How approachable are they? They are playing in Tacoma this coming Friday, and I have a limited edition Japan issue of "Heaven Forbid" (KILLER album!) that has a cool slipcover over the jewelbox (kinda like PT's One Way) that I'd like to see about getting autographed, and to thank them for all the great music they've offered over the years.

Regarding that CD, "Harvest Moon" ranks right up there with "Don't Fear The Reaper" as a huge epic track. Amazing track! Also really love "See You In Black", "Hammer Back", "Power Underneath Despair" (spelled incorrectly as Dispair on the CD cover) and "Live For Me". I was thrilled to hear them play "Harvest Moon" & "See You In Black" last Summer when they played here with Edgar Winter. Is there next album after that, "The Curse Of The Hidden Mirror" (or something like that) as good as "Heaven Forbid"? If so, those guys have definitely been RE-INSPIRED!

Hey Rich S. did you mail my CD? I lost your address, so make sure its' on there when I send you your money order. Thanks Bro. The garage at the Hilton is an open air dive, with gambling machine background vocals. The venue is free...No wonder Robin Ford and Trout are playing there, no one will pay them to play around here, they just don't draw, I've seen it time after time, Robin Ford has always thought he was great and he's only okay, name one really big hit? Da I don't know. Trout is Trout and is lucky when 50 people show up at $5.00. PT is the "Hot Ticket", it's unbelievable how many people don't know that PT tours these days. PT is one of the hardest working musicians in the business, every day, every moment, he keeps his nose to the grindstone. Any more Montrose Review comments for my company? - Blu

You judge someone's guitar playing skills and greatness based on whether they've had some big hits?

By that standard, PT is just an average (maybe below average) player, because he's only had a couple of "big hits."

He bailed on Uli Roth for the recent Legends of Rock tour of Europe. I think the press release said he was sick or he hurt his arm or something. Uli quickly recruited Frank Marino to fill in for Michael - that was a great move.

No offense to Paul Chapman, but as much of a pain in the ass as Schenker can be, I don't think he can be replaced. I've seen them both from the front row, and UFO is a different band with Paul Chapman in the line up.

Just my three cents worth....

Yes -- Sir Rich of the Eastern Seaboard. Send it -I'll pay. "No Worries Mate" Some gal outbid me by 50 cents and she was the only other person to bid. I had to jack around on ebay because your address and numbers are in one of three promo crates that would take me a weekend to find. Be a bro and help. My wife stole the PT shirt from me and wears it saying that it fits her perfectly and man oh man does it look good on her little body. Ask Ed, he should remember her from the San Juan Capo show It was only a large and I needed the next size up, but kept it because it was so long in coming and it is the coolest polo you know? I can still wear my Crash and Burn T-Shirt from 1980 For the Robben Ford Fans, I'm happy for you if you get enjoyment from him, but too me the man has to be as impeccable as his music - I booked Robben at the River Ranch Blues Festival in 1991 and was way to much primadonnaed out. Wanted hand and foot service. Now, enter Pat Travers, great guy, family man and lighting quick fingers with a "bag of tricks" when he plays. Boom Boom Out Go The Lights, Makes No Difference,
Life in London, Heat in the Street, Crash and Burn, Snortin Whiskey, Born Under a Bad Sign, Stevie, I La La La Love You (cut played on movie "Valley Girl" with Nick Cage), Rock N' Roll Susie" etc., are just a few off the top of my head and if these aren't hits then someone please stop me, splash water on my face or else I "Can't Stop The Heartaches" (a hit to me). Robin Ford never reached the "superstardom" that Pat almost achieved. Rememebr, Pat was on the famous Polydor label, what big label was or is Robben on? Pat Travers is easily one of the top ten living live guitar players anyone has ever seen - argue that point. Rich - Ed - You'll back me up huh? (lol) No offense Ford Fans, just higher on Pat than the average bear and just joking and poking around with you if your a music fan then your awesome with me anywho.. - Blu

Just for the sake of argument, Robben was on Warner Brothers, which unless I'm mistaken, is bigger than Polydork....and still in business.
Just an observation.

Hey Randy...I have to agree with you that Chappy ain't no Schenker, and that Schenker is unreplaceable. Having said that, UFO had some great releases with Chappy, namely "No Place To Run" & "The Wild, The Willing, And The Innocent". If UFO brought Tonka (Chapman) back on board, I'd bet they would get through at least ONE leg of a tour! LOL! And I'd much rather Chapman or Jeff Kollman get the job instead of Tommy McClendon or that other hack that was on the Mogg/Way release that Kollman wasn't on (can't remember his name at the moment). I'd really like to see Schenk get his s**t together, but I think he's way over the edge at this point. Too sad, because he was definitely a notch or two above just about (notice I said just about, people!) every other rock guitarist around. When he's firing on all cylinders he's unstoppable. But how long has THAT been now? The other guys in the band deserve to continue on without Schenker's selfish business intrusions. If he doesn't want to play with UFO anymore, fine, but don't hold back the guys who helped you earn your legacy. Besides, Phil's voice is too great to be stifled.

Hooked On PT......you have a heart of gold, my friend, for helping Randy obtain the new PT One Way. It's not breaking news, but it needs to be said again...PT fans are the BEST!

Rockpig - I'm a huge UFO fan as well, and I agree, as great as Schenker is (was?), they do need to move on without him. The Mogg/Way CD with Jeff Kollman clearly showed what a UFO lineup without Mikey could be. It's better than both Covenant and Sharks, easily.

I was not too keen on Paul Chapman when he first replaced Schenker; I was too bummed about them losing one of my favorite guitarists; but they did manage to put out some great albums with that lineup. There's a great live import with the Chapman UFO, called Regenerator - I highly recommend it!

Last ime I saw MSG a few years ago, Michael's playing was stiff, and he seemed to be more interested in selling his merch than playing. Instead of an encore, we got an announcement, "Michael will be over signing merchandise!"

Off to my gig...

Warner huh - good for Robben. Still doesn't say much for his personality - ker plunk...THis is the PT message board so tell me something about him I don't know - that's what I'm looking for. I love all the PT stories on this board. I don't cruise Robben's board. I guess I'm still mad at him for trashing the hotel room and me paying his $$$ in damages. People have reasons for saying what they do. No harm, no foul - I love UFO too and even liked the Chapman take over. Schenker has just been too difficult for people to deal with. Never knew when he'd quit, cry and run off the stage, lock himself in the bathroom or no show. Lifes too short - so I've decided. Peace out all PTB fans cause PT Rocks and Rocks Hard - Blu

I've got three UFO boot vids on DVD - two from the '98 tour in Europe, and one from Chicago during the '95 tour.

Schenker really rocks at the Chicago and Vienna, Austria shows. The show from Germany is kind of ho-hum though (all around for the whole band).

What I've noticed is that Pete Way has a special effect on Schenker that Michael can't deny nor ignore. Basically, Pete literally gets in his face during the shows and Michael can't help but follow along with Pete - who is one of the all-time great rock-n-roll bass players when it comes to stage presense and performing live.

I've seen Michael in concert as part of the MSG, and no one, but one goes near him during a concert. He's in his own little world - but it's not like that when Pete Way is on the stage with him.

During the Chicago show, Michael even went to the other side of the stage and jammed with Paul Raymond who was playing the keyboard. That kind of interaction is very unusual for him.

It's hard to put the finger on, but there's just something about his guitar playing that is unique and special. It's a lot like PT. Neither is a technical virtuoso by a long stretch, but both have got that something special that you can't learn or buy... just gotta be born with it.

I saw Schenker from the front row back in Sep 78 while UFO opened for BOC. UFO was at the top of their game riding the waves of success of "Lights Out" and "Obsession." I saw Schenker again from the front row in May 99 at the Edge in Palo Alto, CA. He rocked me hard both times.

Jeff Kollman & Glenn Hughes have a project, Shape 68 with label interest. London I have the latest Foo Fighters - what song are you referring?
Ed - I love Ty Tabor, I was about to play "The Jelly Jam", one of Ty's side project's but I can't find the F****R.
Ed - Are you familiar with Martian Popoff? He has written a couple Hard Rock/Metal review books. The old PT albums we all know & love get high marks as well as UFO, Purple, Lizzy, BOC all the good stuff. It's very humorous & can be very scathing if He doesn't care for a certain release.
He does a good job seperating the pretenders from the contenders, with very little time for corporate rock pablum. Fans of Triumph & Def Leppard you've been warned.
Anyway - He loves BOC & was going to write a book " The Music of Blue Oyster Cult Explained". Well I for one was really looking forward to this, because I love BOC, but what "ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT"?
I mean the "Marshall Plan" is easy enough, and "Godzilla" I get, I TOTALLY understand "Cities on Flame with Rock n Roll". I've been around long enough to really be a "Veteran of the Physic Wars", but I'm not real sure on just about everything else.
Harvester of Eyes? Lips in the Hills? Joan Crawford? Mistress of the salmon Salt? Flaming Telepath?- I need some help here, it's not so straight forward, I worry I'm not going to "Get It". I need some cheat sheets.
All kidding aside, this book was to shed some lite on the complex nature, ongoing ideas & their crazy spaced out themes in general.
It's pretty cool - if you find the Martian Popoff site, He has a section called "Ye old Metal", that is a review, interview & discussion with one or two members from any given old album - Cultosaurus Erctus, a couple Purple, a couple UFO & a whack of others.
Believe it or not I found it through the Tommy Aldridge site, He left a post & link wanting Tommy to contact him, for a interview of an old album (didn't state which one).

Get to Austin, my ride is late.....straight to the bar. Needless to say, by the time I reached the Backroom.....I was in the mood for some PT!!!! RichTX met me there, gave us passes and AWESOME PTB shirts and we sat and watched sound check. Greg T Walker about one of the nicest guys there is and was very gracious about all the Blackfoot questions we were asking him. After that....straight to the bar. Pat played a smokin' set, a couple acoustic tunes, and it sounded GREAT!! Mr Walker was in full indian gear and was havin a blast!! They played pretty tight for just getting this drummer. They had a sweet tour bus, and everything was very proffesionally done by RichTX!! He's an awesome promoter!! Back in San Antonio, and head back to PHX tomarrow night.....ahhh, another PTB road trip!!! Oh, and the place was PACKED!! Great crowd! Think I did about 2 months of damage to my liver in 1 day!! Alright Hammerheads, here it is!

After spending some time listening to the new 2003 OneWay reissue of Putting It Straight/Heat In The Street (signed limited edition -very nice!!!) and comparing them to the Japanese releases from Polydor in 1990, I've come to the following conclusions:

-Putting It Straight sounds faithful to the original album as well as the Japanese cd.

-Heat In The Street's first 4 songs sound a little muddy (lacking clarity) and the last 4 songs sound much clearer and similiar to the Japanese cd. Check it out for yourself. Even if you are not comparing to anything else, the sound quality differences between the first 4 songs and the last 4 songs are quite noticeable (just paly the end of song 4 and go right into song 5 -Go All Night). It appears that on the first 4 songs they tried to get rid of the tape hiss that was noticeable on the Japanese cd, but in doing so lost clarity (mostly cymbals and vocal clarity). The last 4 songs have that clarity, but also some tape hiss (as on the Japanese cd). IMHO, beleive it or not, I'll take some tape hiss with the clarity anyday over a somewhat muddy mix.

There are also some typo and omission errors that I'd like to point out:

PUTTING IT STRAIGHT:
-producer credits (Dennis Makay & Pat Travers) are missing.

-re-issue track listing is close to what is printed on the back of the record album (with the exception of "Off Beat Ride" and "It Ain't What It Seems" being switched), but very different to the original track listing on the actual album itself :( The lyrics inside the re-issue however are in the actual album running order. :)

-original Thank You list from is missing from original album (especially missing is Emil Zoghby -the one Pat wrote "Dedication" for)

HEAT IN THE STREET:
-reissue shows Heat In The Street copyright as 1979, but original album shows 1978.

-Evie song writing credits on back of jewel case idicates Russell/VanHorn (as on the original album) but inside booklet indicates H. Vanda/G. Young (no doubt Harry Vanda and George Young -Angus and Malcom's older brother, both of Easybeats and Flash and the Pan fame as well as AC/DC producers of all of their albums up through "If You Want Blood..." -sorry for the history lesson.....I sometimes get carried away!)

-In closing, I'd like to add that it would have been nice for the re-issue to include the original inner sleeve artwork & photos along with the new photos and linear notes that Pat provided (also very nice :) The new packaging is very nice and the signed slip sleeve is something that I'll treasure forever. I still highly recommend this re-issue to anyone who is looking to replace/upgrade their original albums and also to anyone who is looking to see what all the noise is about when it comes to this classic line up of the Pat Travers Band. It truly is some of the best rock anyone has ever produced! Here's to looking forward to the next 2fer of "Black Pearl/Hot Shot"

Who is Emil Zoghby and why did Pat write Dedication for him? I remember the name from the Puttin' It Straight sleeve but would be curious to know about this bit of PT trivia. I've also always wondered who the old fart is that Pat is playing for on the front and back cover of Puttin' It Straight. Is it an actor/model or someone who played a vital role in getting PT's career off the ground?

Blur,

Emil was someone that Polydor set up to work with Pat on the Putting It Straight album. Pat sort of goes into detail about it on the "Solo Acoustic" cd that is listed on the PT Stuff page. A great CD!! E-mail Ginbel for ordering info!

Ken and Richard, your PT Texas Tour shirts are on the way!! Thanks for the order!! The Texas Tour is over now....lots of fun had by everyone. Thanks to all of the PT fans that came out, Greg, Jim and hundreds of others! The state of Texas LOVES PT and will do it again this summer! I have about 15 Texas Tour shirts left for sale.....they come with a PT autographed backstage pass while supplies last!! $15 plus $4 shipping and please advise on shirt size! (Large or X-large only)
For all that could make the Texas shows....you saw rock & roll from a band with 3 hours of practice time together but a lifetime desire to bring some rock & roll fun to PT fans! Pat played 3 acoustic tunes and then rocked the house with electric versions of Boom, Boom...Snortin, Life In London, R&R Suzie and more....the meet and greets were packed at every town and I heard NO complaints from anyone! I'm grateful there was nothing but praise for Greg T Walker, JC and Mike D. for the sweat they poured into the shows. NO, it wasn't Tommy Aldridge, Mars Cowling or Eric and Rick......it was fist pumping, voice raising, rowdy PT music brought to Texas fans for the sake of keeping live rock & roll ALIVE!! We didn't invite critics to our shows....we just wanted true PT fans and that's what we got!! God Bless all of you! Email me at rseibe@coair.com for t-shirt orders.....supplies are definately limited! Rock Hard and Always,
Texas Rich

Good Morning All, showed up at work this morning (NASA Ames) and the front gate filled with tv news crews (about 6 of them). Floral arrangements at the front gate under the NASA sign, brought it all back to reality, mood around here is very somber, memorial service to be held this week sometime at the center. Puts a lump in your throat, you know?

On to a happier note! Rich, money order is now in the mail with postage!

Ed, I think we are going to Vegas to see BOC, are you going? My husband's family live in Henderson so we are making it an extended trip! If you are, I will buy you that shot of "Hot Damn!"

Any dates for PT coming to the CA Bay Area soon?

Travers Chick Fan....I'll be looking for the shirt order!
Bluhawly....I'm not aware of autographed CD's being sold anywhere and Pat didn't mention it...this may be some misinformation. I ordered and got the new Heat/Puttin It Straight CD from Oneway and it's NOT signed. I had PT autograph some of our left-over backstage passes for shirt orders only....thought it might be a selling point.
Andre from Holland....yes, it was Greg T Walker from Blackfoot that did our Texas shows.....it was more than a pleasure and he is one of my very best friends! Check out his website at www.4ndns.com
Look for Greg T. and PT to do more dates together....they had a blast here in Texas!
Thanks for all of the new PT T-shirt orders everyone......it really helps with tour expenses and makes it possible to do it again this summer!

To TraversChick, Ed, & London......Sorry about my confusing posts on Saturday morning. While I keep up with the news through the week, I usually avoid it on the weekends, and I was holed up in the "sound dungeon" this past weekend. Was not aware what had happened to the shuttle at the time of my posts. Damn! Just 16 minutes from home and that sort of tragedy strikes. It's hard to comprehend....travelling at 12,500 mph....I only hope the suffering was extremely minimal.
Prayers to the family and all involved. Hang in there TraversChick. The astronauts are a brave and special breed, and they are fully aware of the risks, yet they choose to do it because of their love for it. Not many people go out doing what they love.....

This is not misinformation. If you see the remastered Putting It Straight/Heat In The Street Limited Edition listed, it is a limited edition signed slip sleeve that slides over the cd jewel case and is fashioned to look just like the artwork on the front and back of the jewel case. It is hand numbered limited edition to 2500 copies. Mine was 1750/2500. From what I hear, they're going fast!!!

There are 2 different versions that were released on 1/28/3 by OneWay Records. One is inicated by the words "Limited Edition" and the other one is not. The signed limited edition one is typically going for a couple of dollars more, with the exception of BestBuy. Where I got mine for an unheard of $5.99 + .46 tax and free shipping!!!!

Missingmars, thanks for posting your analysis of the new disc; I find this stuff interesting (but I'm sure many don't!) I did a brief comparison between the old Japanese disks and the new One Way disc and found primarily there is an increased high end on the new ones, as well as the overall volume is louder. I would imagine it is a bit more compressed too, but I don't have any equipment to verify that. I'll have to check out the 1st half vs last half of Heat that you mentioned.

I mentioned the running order or Puttin it Straight before, it actually goes with the order on the original lyric insert from the vinyl, which has the 2 songs switched from the order on the back sleeve. And yes, the lyrics in the new disc are in the correct running order! Go figure!

And it looks like my copy from Best Buy shipped just before yours; mine is number 1748!

And is it just me, or does anyone else feel the next release should be Radioactive/Black Pearl, not Black Pearl/Hot Shot?

Cheers!

Rockpig, Rich and everyone else, thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. Just came back from the memorial service and it was very touching! Kapala worked here at Ames for 8 years before she was accepted in the Astronaut program. Many people spoke and one of the Astronauts from the program came to make a speech on behalf of Columbia. Ames does a lot of work with the Astronauts for the reentry and landing portion so it has hit many of us pretty bad.

As Rockpig said and as they did during the service they went in the Astronaut program knowing the risks and they did it enthusiastically. They are heros! And as routine as the public thinks this is, it is never routine going into space!

Okay that's it, needed to express feeling to my PT friends!

Brian Maybe, I too just received confirmation of my Puttin it Straight/Heat in the Street shipment, but it cost $11.99 + .89 and zero shipping from Best Buy, not $5.99 like the "lucky one". I have them both already, but I'm interested in the increased volume allowance. I like Black Pearl/School of Hard Knocks...At Songsearch.com, they Have a brand new sealed School of Hard Knocks CD for $12.86, but I already have the CD. I also have the "cherry" vinyl of RadioActive, played it once to record a cassette when I bought it new, then recently upgraded by recording onto CD. Hey Missingmars & B. Maybe...My thoughts exactly.
It doesn't really seem "remastered" so much as boosted levels, a bit of EQ push, possibly some compression and so on. The mix doesn't seem to be tampered with at all. By that I mean nothing extra in the mix seems to jump out and grab my ear, like a lot of remasters do. And maybe it's just me, but I've always thought the mix on "Heat..." was not good at all. Compared against "Radio Active" or "Black Pearl" or even "Putting It Straight" before that, it just seems that the dynamics are sorely lacking. I thought that about any media it was printed on...vinyl, 8-Track, cassette, even the Japanese issued CD. I was hoping it would have changed on the remaster, but looks like it didn't.

Having said all of that, I'm still very thrilled it's been released (Got my $5.99 autographed copy!)if for no other reason that it's now finally available to the masses that have definitely been wanting it. I also think Ginbel's version sounds every bit as good! Judging from the brisk sales, it looks like it was long overdue, and the quick sales is proof that ol' PT is still in big demand. That'll show the Goobers that had their doubts!

On another note...remember hearing about Pat signing #2500 of the Limited Series upside down? Don't plan on tracking that one down...I have found out that One Way has kept that one for themselves! Greedy Bastards! Ha! Oh well.....

I would actually like to see them all released. Especially Radioactive and Hot Shot as I've never heard a decent vinyl pressing of either. I've actually opened virgin copies of both and found the last song or two on each side to be quite fuzzy. The louder the music got and the more towards the end of each side the needle got, the fuzzier it sounded. I've soap boxed this issue before, but it is inherent to vinyl that this sonic problem exists. Peter Gabriel is either going to or has already rearranged the song order on his "So" reissue. The reason he is doing this is because it was originally mastered for vinyl (not cd). So therefore, he placed the less sonically demanding songs (ie. quieter/less busy) towards the end of each side of the record so they would track better. Resulting in cleaner sound. With the reissue being done in the digital realm only, he has expressed interest in putting them in what he calls "proper order", not having to cater to the shotcomings of vinyl pressings.

Hey Brian Maybe (Steve Z),

I do believe that I read somewhere on this message board that the next OneWay reissue for Pat is already slated to be "Black Pearl/Hot Shot". I believe this news came from Pat himself. Anyone out there hoping for more reissues from OneWay, you know there is only OneWay to assure this.........buy, buy, buy. This is all driven by sales figures, so let's make Pat proud and buy and spread the word!

Also Rick Seib, Texas Superstar promoter I sent you the reply to your email, so clue me in when you get a chance. And everyone out there don't you dig School of Hard Knocks over Radioactive. I mean I love them both, but if I had to flip a coin I would hope School came up over Radioactive. Guitars from Hell, Daddy Long Legs, Purple Haze, Help Me Please etc, etc. What's your thoughts? Also, also, what do you think of Ronnie Montrose in concert? I haven't seen him live since Winterland, SF, we all dropped L and couldn't believe it when he came out on encore on top of a Marshall Full Stack, with name in neon "Montrose" and jumped off onto stage, with percussions going off and played Bad Motor Scooter back in 1976 wowee. Breaking PT news .............................

Alex Ligertwood, PT, and either Glenn Hughes or Robin McCauley (from MSG, when Mr. Hughes cannot attend) will be touring together with backing band.

Sacramento can expect a concert in April followed by touring this summer.

Did I mention? Sacramento is THE place to be if you are a PT fan!

My you folks are prolific posters! A good thing mind you. So much to discuss, little time to get into it with and difficult to keep on top of. I do not know how EdVision manages it all... ??

RE: One-Way PT remaster. A few days ago, Ed opened up another posting board "TECH Talk" in anticipation of a discussion (however lively or not people choose to be) on this subject. I think it is safe to say that you should feel free to go in-depth, if you would like, about the sonic comparisons and other related information on the recent One-Way release. I for one would like to not lose this info and survey it admist all the flow of posts - we may find it useful to pass along.?

Oh babbby!! You also included a signed access pass!!! OHHHHH MMYYYY!! Awesome! I would have paid even a little more for that, bud. (Keep that in mind for future reference.) Next best thing to being there but not... Again this summer you say?? I am going to try to plan on getting out to Tejas this summer to see him. You are PT family all the way. I cannot say how much we appreciate all this you have planned out for Pat...we owe a big thanks to you!

Wow, Lots of talk about UFO in here. Too bad Herr Schenker can't pull his head outta his ass long enough to complete a tour. I love him as a guitarist but I won't even buy a ticket if UFO tours with him. He's got some serious problems and they always seem to come up when they play the Bay Area. Hope he get's his act together just for his and his families sake. As for Mogg and Co., his new project $ign of Four is awesome. It features Jeff Kollman, Shane Galaas and another guy I never heard of. It's along the same vibe of Mogg/Way's Chocolate Box, which I also highly recommend. I like them both better than Covenant or Sharks. I've also heard that Paul Chapman is gonna do a project with Pete Way soon, which I'm eagerly awaiting. Well, until they manage to tour in one form or another, I just hope PT can make it back to SF to fix my Rock and Roll Jones. BOC will be helping me out with that next Monday in SF, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Now if I only new what they were singing about half the time. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!

Ok...Blu, it was well documented when the One Ways first came out that Best Buy had them for $5.99 + tax and free shipping. Those of us that benefited from this can thank Beseau for the heads up on that one! Thanks again Jimbo! Hey...Jim...we're still waiting for the full Tejas review!

Hey TeamoDave...You know your UFO. Chocolate Box....Great release. Kollman...great guitarist...Schenker....great waste of talent (lately)...Sign Of Four...great UFO substitute, it's a kickin' album! See my post from this past Saturday regarding Pete Way and Chapman. Chapman is currently touring with Pete in support of Pete's solo work. Pete's website has all the info. I believe it's PeteWay.net if I'm not mistaken. As I stated then, I'd like to see Chapman or Kollman get Schenk's gig.

I wonder if any original music will come from the PT/Ligertwood/Hughes/McCauley project, or if it will be a short lived "cover" effort like "Big People" and "V.O.C.R."??? It's about damn time we hear some original PT busting loose!

What's up with Eric & Rick??????????????????????

Here Goes!

Saturday! 10:00 am: My buddy Scott calls and asks when I'm gonna' come by and get him. I say I will be there around 11:30. We are gonna' take the slow Gentlemen's tour of South Tejas! Okay!

10:30 am: My neighbor Dawn calls and says they need a fourth for spades! I say I'll be right there!

2:00 pm: I pull up in front of Scott's house! He's asleep! He already gave up on me like all the other important people in my life, but that's a totally different story altogether! We get loaded up and leave. We make it about 10 minutes down the road when I remember Scott does not have his camera! We turn around and get it! Back on the road!

The weather is for $H1T! Rain, drizzle, clouds, grey sky. We listen to Audioslave for the first leg! He digs it almost as much as me (only because he doesn't know it as well! He will dig it more in the end!) We switch to some Fuel he has wanted to hear and then we hit Georgetown, just north of Austin. We head to the Hooter's for some wings and boobs! Hey! We're guys!

8:00 pm: We hit San Antonio and The White Rabbit. We weren't in a hurry and we enjoyed the trip down. We meet the kid at the door and he tells us a little history on the club. The Toadies, Burden Brothers, etc. have played there to packed houses he says, around 1200 folks! Ask Texas Rich if they could squeeze 1200 live human beings into that place!! Anyway, we meet the manager Chris Saxon (who rocks by the way) and he turns us on to a little place up the road. PT's Gentlemen's Club! Woo-Hoo! Hey! We're guys!!

We get there, light up a Macanudo, and attempt to absorb the ambience that is PT's! Mirrors, brass poles, and all!! We enjoy ourselves for a bit and head back to the White Rabbit for some real PT!!

Back at the ranch, the joint is jumpin'! There are about 275 - 300 of our closest friends on hand for Pat! We grab a couple cold ones, one of which was a Guiness! They served Guiness!!! We made our way all the way up front and got ready to go! Texas Rich introduced Pat and the crowd went nuts! He started off with a blues number that I swear to you, I don't know what it was!! He played a couple songs, one being a Hendrix tune and then settled in to to a three song acoustic set. He played Castles Made Of Sand, one other, then Stevie! Stevie was very cool, with Pat smiling and stepping back from the mic to hear the crowd sing, "We will be strong!" Bee-yoo-tiful!!

Pat and the boys jumped back in with some ass kickin' Travers tunes! He did all the standards we know and love! A stand-out for me was Born Under A Bad Sign! Pat did his now trademark volume swell solo leading into Born. He broke for a minute for Greg T. Walker to pound out a bass solo that hit the mark! Afterwards, building back into the meat of the song, Pat did this thing where he kind of plucked a note off with his picking hand and then took the same hand and pointed his index finger and pushed on the head of the guitar while sustaining the chord he just strummed!!! The guitar gave out this long, low, mournful wail that had me and my buddy Scott looking at each other in awe!! That was so cool!

He did Life In London, Heat, Boom Boom and several others. Unfortunately, we didn't get to here the guitar version of Crash and Burn on this show. But that's okay! We'll get it the next go round!

Anyway, the set wraps up! The crowd goes nuts! Everyone's happy and a winner!

Afterwards, Pat hangs out for an eternity signing stuff, shaking hands, kissing babies, and the whole bit!! Texas Rich is selling T-Shirts like water at a drought!! Did I mention Veronica!! Holy Hell, Batman!! Anyway, we take a few pics of Pat and fans, Veronica, Pat, Veronica, Rich, Veronica, Veronica, fans, Chris Saxon (the manager), Veronica, Greg T. Walker, Veronica, etc.!!! Pat says that he is working towards the Travers/Cowling/Aldridge project and that he hopes it is a go! I am so pumped I can't stand it! Pat signs my old Polydork "Heat In The Street" promo kit. Actually just a couple of the black and whites within. He comments on the locale of the pics fondly! I swoon like a girl!

I admit it! Just standing next to someone that has so impacted my life the way Pat has makes me giddy. Male or female! I really don't think he will ever know what he means to a few of us. And we are all included in the "few" that I mention. His music, attitude, and approach to his life/career has definitely impacted my take on the whole she-bang!!

Veronica takes our shirts back to Pat afterwards and he signs them. We talk to Veronica, her dad Woody, Greg T. Walker! and others. I tell Greg I saw him and Blackfoot at the Cumberland County Fair in Fayetteville, N.C. in 1980, where they played on a flat-bed 18 wheeler!! He looked me straight in the eye and told me he thought I looked familiar!! What a gas!!!

Well, the show's over. Texas Rich is so done with us!! Veronica has left us for a roadie!! Chris has kicked us out of the club, and the only thing between us and home is about 400 miles of kicking-my-assphalt!! We load up and head for the nearest Whataburger!! For you non-Texans, it's the next best thing to Crystal's or White Castle's, only about 3-4 times the size!! Whataburger with cheese, jalapenos, extra mustard and pickles!! With a Dr. Pepper!! We make it as far as Salado, about 70 miles before I am tired as a big dog!! We pull over into a rest area and catch a few winks. About 7:00 am we hit the road, and make Fort Worth and home around 10:00 am.

What a trip! We had a great time! After arriving home, I drop into a coma for several hours! Then food and lot's of water!

That's it! Pic's forthcoming! Hope I didn't let anyone down! It's always more fun in person! Pat and his whole family of fans are great and just make you keep on coming back.

I am so jealous of you left-coasters right now! I would give both my nuts if my wife didn't already have them!!

Later...Jim

A few things:
I am not a regular here due to work and small kids but I will weigh in a few things.

Saw UFO with Paul "Tonka" Chapman and he rocked. In fact many of their best songs are from the Chapman era. Loved UFO and love what they did live with Chapman. "Lights Out" is a classic example of a greatly re-worked tune. Man, one show was UFO and the openner was Aldo Nova (obviously way before he started writting songs for Celine Dion!).

Secondly, what nubers have people received? I have 485 and am expecting another shipment from Best Buy- couldn't resist picking up a few at bargain prices.

Leave it to Jim to put it all in perspective....Texas rules!!! Whatta great crowd in Austin and whatta fun show!! It "is' different w/ out Rickster/Eric, mostly because they invite you into Pats world....where as this show was WAY more rockstar and harder to "access" Pat. I walked onto the tour bus(which was AWESOME), and Pat looked at me like, "what da ••• ya doin here?" Greg T Walker was totally cool! But I turned right around and left. But as far as jammin' and the show....100% kick-ass!! It was cool, Pat came up to me and said thanx for makin the Austin show!! RichTX, back in PHX and puttin some venues in order for ya!! Thanx again!! I have the pass/shirt, and they are awesome!!! GREAT job!! g

Hey Jim,

Loved your review, as I do all your posts. You always have a comical slant on everything! Your review made me feel like I was back at home in Tejas again, what with the discussions of driving down to San Antone. You drove right past my stomping grounds of New Braunfels. Man, I sure do miss 6th Street in Austin and Deep Ellum in Dallas! And your mention of Wattaburger reminded me how much I miss those great burritos at Taco Cabana!

Good to hear that the shows were well received. Texas has always been a good market for PT, as well as other underrated rockers, like Moxy, Legs Diamond, Budgie, etc. San Antonio especially has always been a great market for this type of music. Too bad most of the rest of the world hasn't caught a clue.

My PT discs are numbers 248 & 2315....

I have to add a few things Jim left off about his trip. How do I know? I am psychic!! Anyway, he get's to the white rabbit and and he shoots the breeze with the guy at the door who's name is Eric. Eric gives pertinent info about the White Rabbit and is a big help in introdcing Jim to Chris Saxon, said manager of White Rabbit, who provides directions to the other important PT of the evening, said naked joint. Once inside Jim listens to two songs of one of the opening bands. The first is "Man in the Box" by Alice in Chains. Any guesses on the second? That's right all you Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young Fans....OHIO! How in the snot does a band go from Alice in Chains to CSNY, Jim wondered aloud!? It was at this point that Jim left and went to the all important other PT'S to do important research on the female anatomy! Now that said...Veronica if you happen to read this... I love you more than Jim does!

Rock Pig, I just began posting after a long intermission, so I didn't get the benefit of any well documented heads up on those $5.99ers. I hope my one way comes autographed. A number did pop up 2493 but I thought that was a confirmation. I ordered last week. It's easier to give a credit card number than to try and get to the post office on a working day before five and get a money order (ginbel)(lol). At any rate, The VA show looks good with Montrose and PT, my show is going to add Robin Trower and that's in July and that's in Reno, NV. Anyone wanting to go, I give the same as Rick "Super" Seib - autographed lams with PT, Ronnie and Robin, T-shirts and free passes at the door, so get with me in May you all. Where's Cindy and Dwarff been? See Ya - Blu

Enjoyed reading your PT Tejas tour schedule. Almost sounded like the script to a PT diary-docudrama. You could nearly fit the bill to write PT's - a touch of comedy, excitement, women, zero time, etc. LOL! : )

Legs Diamond!! Oh WoW! I have two Legs Diamond albums, A Diamond Is A Hard Rock & Firepower! My friends thought I was a freak for finding something in them! I loved them! I had a feeling it was just me, the band, and their families that ever listened!!

I'm not ready for Betty Ford yet, but I'm giving it a helluva go! For the record, and this is not a plea for pity, my wife of 14 1/2 years (can't forget the 1/2) and I have separated and filed for divorce in November. Got the final papers tonite with a tentative date of Feb. 11. I'm pushing for the 14th to take away any traces of romantic nostalgia from anything to do with Valentine's Day! Ever!! Also for the record, no matter how long you have been expecting and/or anticipating it, it still knocks your d**k in the dirt! I am going to drink through all the stages of divorce until I get to depression, and then I am switching to prescription drugs!! I hope the money holds out! If anybody knows any desperate women in the North Texas area that they don't give a s**t about, give them my number! I have a line on a divorcee on crutches in my apartment complex! She shouldn't get away!

Have I mentioned I'm single!? And available!? And incredibly...available!!?

Got an email from Deniese at the White Rabbit. She wants my Travers' pics! I'm working up a trade for Veronica's phone number!! Veronica!

Later...Jim

Welp, I am happy to report that I am now the proud owner of TWO (count 'em, TWO) baby bouncing SIGNED limited edition Putting It Straight/Heat in the Street CDs, the first from Buccaneer Records (thanks MissingMars?), #279, and the second from Best Buy for $5.99 plus $0.24 tax, #1724. I haven't had the chance to listen to them full-out yet but they sound good from what I've heard.

The package is really cool (the slipcase is neat) and the liner notes are killer. It's great to hear straight from the "horse's mouth" (no offense to Pat) about what was going on around the recording of these important parts of our childhood. I was first exposed to Putting It Straight on cassette tape in a good friend's Pontiac Le Mans, and I never did see the inside cover with the words, so it's great to finally have those.

For those of you who have seen "'Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy and Other Misheard Lyrics" by Gavin Edwards, I'm the person that book was written about. Those who haven't, you should buy it, it's hysterical. I actually did amazingly well with most of the ones on this album though.

Rich/Nancy, drop me an email at CARLJ@aol.com about getting together for the 3/21 PT show at Jaxx if you're gonna come down.

Looking forward to visiting sunny Orlando next week and will hopefully be hooking up with Eric and Rick to party a bit.

There is one club in Campbell, the old Smokey Mountain, it is now called Kingshead Pub, I know some bands play there Friday nights, but I am not sure how many people it will now hold?

Things are still pretty crazy here at Moffett Field, and our tenant who is a Marine Corps reserve just got her call to be activated. She reports Monday Morning, needless to say, we have a 1 bedroom cottage for rent in the Cambrian area of San Jose!

Traverschickfan how much you want for your Cambrian cottage and would you allow a small lovable 10 year old silky terrier with one tenant? I'm from that area. What street, where is it near? My sister would be the one. She's a nurse. UPDATE ON TROWER IS: Kansas was spoken to about the possibility of a package with Robin, but they could not commit early enough. If anybody has ever done editing of any sort, they will know that it is a MAJOR TIME CONSUMER!! Myself, I've spent over 9 hours to clean up ONE 3 to 4 minute SONG of a live show before...and that's just audio! I won't even touch video! One can only work for so many hours at a time before you start bugging out and seeing things crawling around on your monitor screen that aren't really there before you HAVE to take a break! Editing & producing requires a totally different set of ears from a listener, so you end up playing your project OVER & OVER & OVER to the point of hating it when you're finished, because you're listening for ANY flaws that you might have missed on the first 100 listens. Nobody wants to devote that kind of time to a project, only to hear those flaws that might or might NOT go unnoticed by the listener! I'm just as anxious to see Rich's final effort, because we all know it's gonna be as good as it possibly can, but you gotta give the guy some time. He not only works a full time job, but he's got kids and a lovely wife that need some personal time as well. You all know by now that Rich is good for his word. It'll be ready when it's ready, and I'm willing to bet that it'll be done before a new PT CD is released!

On another note....Ed? Where are you? I didn't get a reply from you on the BOC question from over a week ago, but that's okay because it's too late now.

However, I'd still like some sort of info regarding where a competent ass kicking drummer might send a resume/demo tape for Pat to check out....Can ANYBODY help? Does anybody care? I know Pat will choose whoever he wants, but you never know...this guy I'm trying to refer could be THE ONE...he's definitely got the talent and the pro experience under his belt. And if Pat's already found a drummer, that's cool, just let me know. Eric...if you're reading this, maybe you could help? Thanks in advance to anyone that can supply any info.

PTB is KING!

Regarding my earlier post about editing & producing....I failed to mention that I was mostly talking about "live" audio or video material. Or anything other than a truly professional, big budget recording. In a studio if there's a blunder, no sweat, you just erase and redo the part, or Pro-Tools it as the case may be these days. But when you're working with "live" source material, then there are all sorts of things to consider! The quality of your source recording is all you've got to work with. A few examples.... You're working with a tape that's got an abrupt stop or cut between songs? Tough! You figure out how to blend it as seamlessly as you can. You've got a nasty tape "warble" right when a solo starts? Figure THAT one out! Pat's gotta tune up between songs (we've all seen that one)....you don't really wanna leave THAT on the video do you? Okay, so you cut it. Now blend that edit seamlessly! Bad lighting for 30 seconds in a song? Hmmmm...what to do? Some goober unknowingly walks right in front of your camera view for 2 seconds? As much as you'd like, you can't shoot the bastard. Besides, he wasn't aware you were standing there! LOL! Now let's discuss a few audio issues.....Say it's a digital recording and the levels are just barely too hot. You don't get saturation like you do with analogue tape, you get digital errors! Clicks and pops whenever a signal hits the sonic roof. Now you have a great digital recording that sounds like it's on bad vinyl! You have to locate EACH digital error, correct it, and move on to the next, correct it and move on, and on, and on.(see my post below about the 9+ hours devoted to 3 minutes of a song). You have an analogue recording but the levels are a bit too low? HISS!!! And no high end. You have a great analogue recording from 10+ years ago? I bet I can locate some signal drop out! There's tons to consider when you're working with a "live" show. And you can't re-record the show either! You can only work with what you've got. You just can't polish a turd. If a show is badly done, you're wasting time. Even if a show is for the most part well recorded, if you get enough of these kinds of issues, you're still wasting time. I only offer this additional info because I don't think most people exactly understand what kind of effort ol' Ginbel puts into these projects. It's one thing to just have a show with warts and all for your own use. But to put something out there to sell...it better be good, or folks will gripe! I've done enough "live" audio editing to know that it takes a buttload of time and patience to get what initially seems like a great sounding show to sound like it really is a true representation of what actually transpired at the concert. It's a bitch to do! LOL! That's why I personally draw the line at video! Twice the headaches! I ain't going there! Ginbel, you can have it, Bro! LOL! There are so many hazards to "live" recording, it's almost not worth the effort...until you hear a show that's been done well. Then it all makes sense! Hats off to ya Gins!

To Texas Rich.....He's in the Vancouver, B.C. area.

And as always...PTB is KING!

Hey everybody -

New to the board, found out about the Putting/Heat release and found my way over here to see if it was legit and read some reviews.

So here's my PT story:

Grew up in the Bay Area and was always into music but not really hard rock, was a big Elton John fan growing up. Became a Cheap Trick fan in high school and got tix to see 'em live! Some guy got added to the bill I'd never heard of, his name was Pat Travers. This was 12/27/79 if memory serves me so he was playing with the classic lineup w/Mars, Pat & Tommy! Unbelievable show! Just totally kicked my ass! I'd never seen anything like it! Remember him playing Snortin' Whiskey which wasn't even released at the time. By the time they were done I didn't even care about Cheap Trick! My love of hard rock/heavy metal was born! Then I saw Rush a couple months later, but that's another story.
Been a PT fan ever since and have seen him 10+ times over the years, most recently a couple summers ago at Caesars in Tahoe where I've been living for almost 11 years.
Thanks to everyone for the Best Buy advice, mine's on order and I passed along the info to friends who have also ordered.
Will be keepin' an eye out for that PT/Trower/Montrose show in Reno!

Hey Andy, cool, I grew up in the South Bay, and was also at that PT/Cheap Trick show! It was the 3rd time seeing PT for me, and I went to that show pretty much for that reason (although Cheap Trick is very cool, too). They did debut Snortin' Whiskey, which hadn't been released yet. Pat said they only came out in the middle of recording to do that one show as a favor for Bill Graham!

Thanks for jogging the great memories!

Cheers!

Greetings All
Just passing through and wanted to say HI to everyone. Thanks again to everyone that made it to the NYE show. It was a great success. Looks like the city of Tempe is looking at putting on a summerfest sometime in May, and YES I'm working on them to bring Pat in for the show. It is currently in the planning stages and hopefully will know more in a few weeks... Yes got my copies of Puttin' It Straight / Heat In The Street. Yes I said copies 14 to be exact. Got numbers 147, 252, 377, 437, 540, 663, 761, 763, 914, 937, 1450, 1685, 2107, 2118. I'm only going to keep two the rest will be going to all the people at the Fiesta Bowl that made NYE possible. Hopefully will be able to get Pat back again for another NYE in a few years.
Wishing everyone the best. And remember PTROCKS

I have to share this - I took a chance and ordered two more $5.99 Heat/Puttin' cd's from Bestbuy. Got them yesterday and they are Limited Edition Signed/Numbered copies! I am floored by Bestbuy's ignorance and our good fortune! I got a 358 and I can't remember the other number right off. This is crazy!

Left Turn! Cheap Trick Saturday! I am stoked! I have never seen them live so this will be very cool! Small hall and all!

Stratcat! Got your email and will shoot you a reply, hopefully today! On the Q-T, I say to move forward. I feel positive about your questions and will elaborate more. If you see this message, call me on my mobile - 817-975-2454 if you have a minute. It is in my pocket now! The phone that is!!

And I thought converting an .mp3 to a .wav file was technical, tedious, and cumbersome!! Who would have thunk it could be so involved!!?

Take care all.
Later...Jim

This used to say "Limited Edition," that's what many of us ordered and got our signed copies. Sounds like they are still sending that one out, and for just $5.99, so give it a shot!

Hi, Just a note about a DVD. If Pat does one, I wonder if he will do a film transfer, or another method. Kansas did the former last May, and released it a few months ago, bragging about this type of method, and I think it looks very ordinary, not clear, and I wonder if it was a Phil Ehart budget thing. Pat had the video footage of his videos out in 1986, and the 1990 show, was interesting, but I hope he sees a few of the mistakes some other bands make. Kansas should have also had a few fan interviews, to spice the menue, but as a huge Kansas fan, it could be worse, maybe nothing! London

I just read the post from Eric..... Don't know the man other than what I've read , seen and heard, but he sure seems like a class act to me. PT gave him the opportunity of a lifetime much like I have had. As little as it was for me. It was a great feeling playing for someone like PT. Its really hard to put into words what is was like sitting behind the drumset for "THE MAN". It was the most fun I have had since I started beating on pots and pans. He's the showman's showman...a class act to himself. When you literally grow up loving everything he has written and performed and especially the players in the various lineups for Pat, you realize....... HEY here I am doing it now. What a freekin thrill. Not one that I'll soon forget. To all the PT family here it was great to read posts from everyone, especially all those who critisized other musicians for not being the REAL PT band members. You are what you are at the time that your a doing it.

I for one am greatful to be on the same stage as PT regardsless.. Thanks Rich Sieb for giving me a shot, thanks for those who came to San Antonio, Humble, and Corpus Christi to see the shows, Jim, Ed, Blur and the rest of the PT Family

Yes Robin Trower is coming to Reno, NV. I'm working with his manager to see when Robin wants to do the date in July and that is for sure. As soon as I sign him, Montrose and Pat will get there calls. Maybe Rich Seib in Texas will be involved, it's gaining speed so fast - wow, maybe we will try to route 2 or 3 dates with this trio. All three performers are going to be asked to do 90 minutes - wow, watch out ticket prices, but my PT pals are NO CHARGE, JUST SO ALL 292 OF US DON'T SHOW (LOL) - thanks for all who posted. - p.s., Greg, don't pee your pants bro, for sake of your laundry doer. - Blu

Blu: Sounds like a killer show! Last time I saw Trower was at the Cabaret in San Jose! Let us know dates as soon as you get them! Should be a great time! Also thanks for the kind words, as they say "time heals all pain" hey Jim remember those words too!

Time to go see some shows, Whitesnake, Dokken and Scorpions coming to the HP Pavillion is one and then Bon Jovi after that one!! Stones played there yesterday, not sure how the show went though, will have to find out!

Blu, put me on the list for Reno and the Bay Area if they schedule any shows here!

Hey gREG,

Small world ain't it Bro? I lived on River Road, about 5 miles up towards Canyon Lake on the left.
A normal Summer day consisted of getting home from work, sparking a goofy, and depending on how my head felt and what the water level was, I'd grab either the innertube or the kayak, walk across the street and plop down in the Guadalupe and sail to the bottom. Then it was a matter of bumping into a friend to lift me back home! How great is that? Glad I eventually moved as that big flood last year wiped out the crib I was living in at the time! The thought of all my music gear, CD's, PT stuff and every other personal item floating down the Guad is scary indeed!

Jimbo! Mail me a burrito from Taco Cabana! LOL!

Yes, where's Cindy been? At the Dee Snider site, or what?

And since I've had no reply on the last two times I asked, I'm asking again....Where's Eric & Rick??? Still in or have they moved on????

And if they've moved on, which I REALLY hope isn't the case, how does a seasoned pro touring drummer (not me, by the way) submit a tape/resume or get an audition for the position? I have a buddy that is really interested in the position, and is fully capable of handling the job. In fact, he was a contender for the Judas Priest gig that eventually went to Scott Travis when Les Binks bailed. Ed or Don Barnard, can you reply for me?

Hey Seib, it sounds like you really put on a professional tour stint there in Tejas for ol' Pat. Way to go!

I think we can route to Bay area from Reno. Love that kinda stuff. Thanks for the Buccaneer Record connection, I ordered today and got number 100 something and he had a 204 left so I took it. This guy John, says he has 24 left, but thinks he will get another 100 in. He says the auotgraph numbers are mixed up all over the place as "One Way" just loaded the boxes without paying attention to the numbers in an ordered sequence. I was like woo we when I was told I got 100 something and 204. This guy John, said that when he first started sending them out, he was picking the most legible signatures without paying attention to the numbers. Seems Pat's signature was better on the earier numbers than the last, guess he was getting writers cramp or maybe he had a JD during a portion of the signings or maybe one of the kids came in or Monica was saying hurry up Pat, dinner is almost ready - who knows - but I can't wait. - See Ya - Blu

Hi! Back from my date with the Celine Dion look alike. I Love French women! Anyway, I did not know about that accident until after my post. The one in 1986 was my referance. God Bless.
About that Foo Fighters song. I honestly don't know the name, I drive a truck and never hear the title, sorry. It is Life In London, very aggressive, and Pat Travers all over it, so it sounds. Dave Grohl, does not have the tone, nor his others, to get this one without some inspiration!
About Tommy, any Whitesnake reports about that tour, his site has not been updated in months, but Whitesnake.Com, is. Also, what is it with Schenkers beard? Is it some conversion thing, or what? I know a year ago in St.Louis, he was on, but can put the beers away.

I am trying really hard to remember my exact thoughts regarding UFO/Aldo Nova - many years ago. I believe my friend and I commented on the fact that most of the soloing in AN was done by AN although when his other guitarist jammed we thought he was better. AN seemed to have a rather snob-like atmosphere surrounding him, but we enjoyed his music, for the most part. UFO's performance was better. Paul Raymond was replaced by Neil Carter that tour. We met the band, all but Phil Mogg showed up - darn!, at the Campbell Tower Records and had them sign one of those cardboard repros of the Mechanix album cover - I cannot believe I no longer have that anymore (do not know what I ever did with it when I moved?). I think about almost everytime I go to have a musician autograph memorabilia. Chapman was cool, but of course no Schenker with his long hair constantly drooped over the guitar so you could hardly make contact with his face. He served the purpose and did the job we left wanting more. Somehow his reworked versions of the old UFO at times did not come through as effectively as we would have liked. Being teenagers at the time, seeing Way and Mogg perform together was enough to please ourselves and add enough excitement to the show. Nevertheless, they are a nice bunch of guys, especially Neil who has a very bubbly, warm, outgoing personality at the time.

Listened to the first 4 or 5 tunes in the van. Went to get out and the CD player wouldn't give up the disc. Took me 15 minutes of pleading and prodding to get it back out. Talk about a heart attack!

As a matter of fact saw Pat AT a Robin Trower gig. It was the sweet party Pat at the time!! "Ladies and gentlemen...our special guest tonight is non other than PAT TRAVERS!!!!" Crowd goes wild! I ordered my Puttin' & Heat CD from Amazon.com per the advice given to me by One Way. To the best of my recollection, at the time of ordering, there was only one version to order from (I would have to look back on my post - I could be wrong, but I would have ordered the limited edition.) Now there are two versions to order from, with the "limited edition" costing $3 more(as someone else stated), and I am told there still are some left. Good thing I placed two orders at different sites.

Posted on Friday, February 07, 2003 - 12:12 am:

Hello everyone...it's Eric here! It's about 2:32 a.m. here and I thought what a great time to catch up. As most of you know I gave my notice to Pat about a month ago. What a great ride!! What a great group of fans. I can't explain to you the feeling I get when you guys wish Haley or myself a happy birthday, or ask how's Angela. You are genuine. Ya know I was working at Sam Ash Music in Jan. 2000 when I arrived at work and was called into the office by my manager. He told me that I would have the next weekend off. Surprised and a little angry I asked why. As he handed me a piece of paper with the name Pat Travers and a number on it. I had absolutely no idea who Pat was. Come to find out Pat was at the Sapphire Supper Club in Orlando and saw me play a couple of songs, inquired about me and found out about Sam Ash. Pat had the class to ask my boss at Sam Ash before even contacting me. Ya see he didn't want my job to be in limbo over him offering me a weekend in Virginia with the P.T.B. So I called the number with much confusion and Pat said he wanted to pick me up for lunch. He did and we went to a place called Fiddlers Green in Orlando. There he handed me a couple of tapes and asked me if I could go to Virginia for two days the following weekend. I glanced down at these tapes and realized just what I was getting into when I saw Tommy Aldridge written on Crash and Burn. Needless to say I said sure, soon to find out that Dave LaRue would be the bassist. Talk about pressure!! So Pat and I arranged a rehearsal at my house. Pat showed up got out his gear and started wailing. I'll always remember how funny it was when right in the middle of talking he looked outside the window and saw the neighbors Rott Weiller (sp?) had gotten loose. Pat dropped everything ran outside and played with this terrifying 150 pound dog for about ten minutes. I realized quickly that he was very down to Earth. So after that weekend up north Pat offered me the gig. When doing so he also informed me that Dave would be leaving soon to tour with the Dreggs. He then asked me if I knew any bassists. I told him thatI knew the baddest mother $%^#&& in town! I got to give Rick the call. How cool was all of this? I mean I get a dream gig given to me and then get to bring my best friend along. I've seen over 8 countries in three years. I've played drums for Pat, Rick Derringer, Eddie Money, Dave Jenkins(Pablo Cruz), Glenn Hughes, Alex Leigertwood (Santana), Joe Lynn Turner, Les Dudek, Larry Hoppen(Orleans), and even a short jam with Fergrie Frederickson from Toto. I am 27 years old. I would have never thougt that was all possible. Pat made it possible. How do you thank someone who gave you that? Greg, Lisa, Cindy, Rich, Nancy, Rod, Gill, Henni, Wilma, Andres, Gabriel, Mark, Harold, Rich Seibert, Strat Cat (I really wish I could have met you personally brother), Zbassman Richard in Georgia, Two Chads and family, Ed ( the man), Bruce ( the other man),Daryl, Darren, Sandy, all the guys from Wishbox( best of luck), Bette,SpecksMagoo, Tony Lopez, Don Bernard, man.........what a family to be in huh? I mean WOW. There are no hard feelings in any way as I am leaving this band. It was just time for me. I will play my last show with Pat on March 5th in New Smyrna Fl. I am sure it will be tough. I just hope hope everyone realizes what a great talent Pat has in Rick.I know you guys do. The new stuff sounds great and I hope you all can hear it soon. It was a lot of recording. Pat just seems to be better and better. Ya know I remeber answering an interview on Two Chads site and he asked me to use one word to sum up Pat...ENDLESS. It's as true now as it was then. I have a brother here in town who is the reason I even played drums to begin with. I look forward to cutting heads with him finally. I also have joined a great band Curb 60. We are playing the HARD ROCK LIVE on Thursday Feb. 20. If anyone would like some free tickets I would be so happy to get them to you. PLEASE e-mail me at (PTBBADASS@aol.com).Thanks for reading my endless rambling. I'll see you in the big time! Eric

Hey Blue,

I do agree very much so! Pat's tone is very unique, no matter what part of his lengthy career you are listening to. My personal "tonal" favorite has got to be somewhat of a toss up between "Black Pearl" & "Hot Shot". At that time, his processing was on high but under control (tasty!), unlike "Radioactive", which I like (New Age Music & Electric Detective are classics), but at times sounded a bit cheesey :) (just a bit)

PT on DVD............I can't wait :)

Got my limited edition CD yesterday. I've listened to it almost three times all the way through. That's some great, classic stuff.

I lost my tape collection in the early '80s (got ripped off by a buddy who was supposed to mail it to me - not only did he not mail me my collection, he cashed the check I sent him and blew it). Got married and started having kids shortly thereafter and couldn't afford to get back into music until after CDs became the norm (in some ways, that wasn't such a bad thing).

However, for the most part, I only got best of releases, rather than trying to get everything. It's nice to hear all of the tracks that never made the best of CD (although Pat signed my best of PT CD when he was here in Korea last summer).

I've already burned me a backup of this baby and tucked the limited edition disk and case away for safe keeping.

Rich, if you'd like any help with the NYE project (maybe some artwork for DVD cases or menus), just give me a hollar.

Hey Randy.. thanx! Sure thing. Especially since my other help bailed on me. LOL! Email in regards to some concepts you might have(especially for menus) I have full moving motion on these now(unlike the other I have done) Any cool stuff you can do in Photoshop would be great! This will be in surround sound also so any concepts for some oustanding menus? I was think 3-D flying menus with sound that makes it seem as if they are flying past your head. I have a 16 track studio to use so I can get pretty intricate on this one if I want. I was thinking of having the scene selections flying past you with sound transposed to the flying so that it starts in the fore ground and dissapears into the rear speakers... or vice-versa or it can fly around you! I am getting goose bumps imagining it!! The 3-Dimensional aspect is going to be cool also. The scenes can flip and tumble in 3-D. I actually have the abilty to create the DVD so that it is TRUE 3-D with glasses and all!! Man... that would be cool!!! Furthermore you could be "standing" in the menu and when you reached out to just highlight a selection it starts spinning in real 3-D and playing that song from that 3-dimensional point of view! Yeah!

I know I've asked this before, but who is the old guy on the cover of Putting It Straight? Is he an actor/model or someone who played an imporant role in Pat's career? Is he still alive? Nah, just kidding.

Chapters are 1.Hooked On Music 2.Life In London 3.Just Enough Money 4.WISER MAN!!!!!!! 5.Ice Queen 6.The Pain 7.Stevie 8.Medley 9.Whipping Post 10.Snortin' Whiskey 11.Boom, Boom 12.Solo 13.Born Under A Bad Sign. This is THE ONLY video with Wiser Man on it! Pat just blisters in this video!! Part of the time he is playing some kind of guitar I have never seen before. It's obvious he likes it by the way he is tearing it up and smiling! Pat is just happy as a clam. Dave bass is tight and focused. Seans drumming is dead on with his signature machine gun style. The video was pro shot with two cameras and is a joy to watch!! Just a note... we are now using CSS copyright protection and macrovision protection to stop the copying of the DVDs. Email us at ginbel27@comcast.net for ordering details. Peace out! Rich

Hey all, my sister in law, Arleene, happened to be at the Kingshead Pub in Campbell last night (the old Smokey Mountain) and has informed me that PT is booked to play there April 19 and a friend of hers name Ben is drumming for him, anyone know anything about this? Her friend Tony was there that also talked to her about this???

She also said that the Backbeat is shutting down very soon. Not sure what to think about this I haven't heard from her in a month or so. So if anyone knows please confirm.

Thanks.

Wow! More PT video news than you can shake a stick at! Where in the heck do you guys find this stuff? Sign me up for a copy of the San Diego show! Hey Shiva, regarding your NYE DVD show, will it be a different camera source from the one Ginbel is working on? How many people were shooting the NYE gig? Sounds like there were a lot of video cameras going on! Will you be selling your version as well, or will Ginbel's be the only authorized version meeting Pat, Eric & Rick's approval? If you're not selling it, what does a PT fan have to do to obtain a copy? I'm sure we'll all want to know! I'm glad that there is so much stuff coming around.

Anybody heard from Eric? Hope he's doing good. If you're reading this Eric, we all miss you, Bro!

Hey Blu: My husband said you should try to get the Catalyst in Santa Cruz (it is where the Dregs just played) killer place according to the local muscians at my house tonight! Husband is in two bands and they are doing a jam night tonight. Thought I would let you know about that place!
