Hey Ebrecht,

You wrote

"Hooked, I got it. I've had the cd since it came out. My version is on Episode records, though. I think the original is on Grand Slamm?"

I think your confusing Hooked's query on who has "PT Power Trio".

Hooke's quote of
"I gotta tell ya....there's just something about livin' out of suit case that makes a man feel fat and ssssaasssy." is from the song "TRAMP" off of PT Power Trio on Shrabnel's Blues Bureau label.

It is also from a song on the "School Of Hard Knocks" cd which came out on Epsiode Records only (I think). It think the song is "Chevrolet", but I'm not sure.

:)

guess I wasn't clear on that post...confused myself rereading it.

I was asking who among us has got the Power Trio CD. And to those who haven't I ask why not? Cuz it's not "new" PT? So what?? Well, it is PT and as always, he makes it's magical and delicious....kinda like the Candy Man!

I just put that "fat and sassy" quote in cuz it's funny and just imaginig PT saying is funnier!

Put jeez, yeah, you guys gotta get this if you haven't. I've said it before and I'll say it again. It kicks your ass from one end to the other!

I was jammin' with Tramp last night. Man, I'm not great, but I thought I could pick fast. Dammit, but PT is faster!!! It's just not right I tell you! Ah well, it'll take a couple weeks, but I'll get it...gots to have goals you know! Then back to working out Hammerhead

....and my friends wonder why I mutter to myself alot when I'm listening\watching PT.

But in other news, turns out there's a double bill coming to town on labor day of none other than blues legend BBKing and my other guitar hero, the one, the only, the JEFF BECK. God, I hope and pray I get to this show!!!!! too damn expensive though ...it'll be $200 for the three of us...man, I'm on a budget ya know!! But jeez...BBKing...and did I mention JEFF BECK!!!!

Ed what's your latest news? Need to know fast. We need to decide if we want that kind of "hoopla" going on at this event. "Oh Lord Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" - Robben Ford will be performing. What a great cover. Sorry I ever said anything negative about Robben. Whoever I blasted about him last year should know that my wife gave me a spanking for those remarks.

Robben is going to blow some people away Sunday July 27th. His new album is being pressed right now and Robben's manager said it's his best work of all times and will be playing a couple of those tunes at the gig.

PT's version of Superstition on Blues Tracks is phenominal. Nasty Dogs is great off the Power Trio. I liked Tramp too, like how he pulled in the suitcase line from is past cut. I appreciate the praise some of you have given me on the press write-up for PT and Bad Co. on the website - linked to my gig on the "gigs" page. Thanks everyone - Thanks Randall, Scott & Jo, Ken, Mr. Tierney, Daryl, Regina and Mathew - see you there... Blu

Congratulations Randal, it's been a long haul for you!

Next week PT in the Park with Glenn Hughes, should be fun! Husbands band is pulling another double band show on the 11th, will have to miss the Capitola show. They are doing a benefit concert for the Harley rider who was run down here in San Jose. Hoping for a huge turnout, helping to raise money for his wife for medical expenses!

I just got word from a source of mine out of Japan that there's going to be a future release of a NEW 2CD LIVE set of PT from the Radioactive '81 tour!!!...It's coming out of Germany and it should be out around late '03 or early '04.

This 2CD set will of course feature PT, Mars, and Sandy doing a bunch of songs from Radioactive plus all his other stuff including a killer version of "Crash and Burn" and "Life in London."

Hey Rich did you hear anything about this?

PT as in Pat Travers, Bette! PA as in Port Angeles -- on the Olympic Peninsula, across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Victoria BC, which is visible from the site.

It is absolutely goergeous there, especially this time of year, so next sumemr will be a BLAST

yippee! Thanks for all the kind words and support -- especially Stratmandu, who has always known I was having a hell of a time getting it doen. Next up -- the MONEY!! Anyone with a spare million should give me a call - ED?? LOL

Thanks 'Hooked' that'll be it. Must admit Mr Wonder's 'Superstition' is one of my all time faves.

I guess though the songs aren't a similar style, the titles & Jeff Beck connection could be enough to confuse someone...?

Speaking of Jeff, I seem to remember that in the booklet for the 'Beckology' boxed set he basically claims he wrote 'Superstition', not Stevie.

'Karn Evil 9' is an interesting one - do you mean the 'full' version? Fantastic piece of music. I can imagine how it'd sound if PT did it (bit like 'Who'll Take the Fall'...?) but can't imagine him wanting to do it!!!

I can't think of anything I'd particularly want him to cover. New PT songs is the only craving I have!!!

Happy 4th everyone the day we celebrate our freedom....

my heartfelt thanks to those of you who are out there protecting that. God bless you guys and gals! I paused as I heard some fireworks going off in the distance last night. Ann asked what I was doing, wondering if I could see them. I said, no, I'm just listening to the sound of war. It occurred to me what it must be like in any other of those war torn places around the world that live with real explosions on a daily basis, hearing those sounds in the distance, knowing that with those explosions people are dying. sorry for the melancholy folks, but this has been a sombering couple of years.

enough about that though...through all else

Today is my wife's b-day too. Partying later...wish you guys could all be here...

BE SAFE!!!!

Boaters...wear your PFD's!

Cindy glad you're enjoying the NYE DVD. I was blown away by it too. Rich and company did an awesome job from beginning to end!

well, I'm off to wake the neighborhood with my lawn mower...peace

TC, I don't know what it actually says in the Beckology booklet but I recall that Stevie Wonder wrote the song for Jeff Beck. But Beck was in the process of finding a singer and I guess he felt he couldn't find one that would do the song justice. So Stevie ended up doing the song himself. Soon after that, Jeff gave up on finding a singer and went into the instumental phase of his career. I remember reading that a long time ago in an interview Beck did with Guitar Player magazine.

Change of plans. The July 12 Cabrillo College concert will be with backing band - Wishbox. This does not preclude Pat from possibly playing a couple acoustic songs as part of the set.

RE: Cover songs.
Hint: Think King Crimson. That should be something else.

Have to leave some things up to the element of surprise.

PT, Wishbox and the sound (provided by Ed of Third Ear, who will also provide the same at the upcoming Colusa Casino gig) were all ON at the Hollister, 4th of July Independance Rally gig. Hollister was leveld! Just awesome. Thousands of people attended the Hollister Rally making for a busy 20-block radius full of motorcycles, food, beverage, arts and crafts vendors - not to mention there were other stages. Stage volume was somewhat low, but the PA was extremely loud!! It has literally taken me two days to get the ringing out of my ears and I had some protection- one of the loudest concerts I can remember going to in the near past. Usually, with this volume and an open venue, the sound quality can present its own set of problems - not this time. Pat's vocals and guitar sounded like Pat. Very crunchy. Delays were absolutely right on! Everything seemed to be dialed in right at their request on stage when the band took to the stage. Not one complaint o request to alter the sound that I can recall from Pat. Pat was in good spirits. I believe they will be asking Pat to come back again and play next year, tentatively pencil that into your calendars.

TLo rocks!!

Thanks TeamoDave, you prompted me to re-read what Beck said. I had kind of misread it, you're right.

What he said was that Stevie wrote the riff & song, based on a groove that Jeff was messing about with on a drumkit.

Stevie was gonna write a song for Jeff anyway, in return for some sessions Jeff played on for Stevie's 'Talking Book' album.

But in the end Stevie decided to record it & put it out himself. Jeff's band just played it onstage.

(Though of course he did record it on the Beck Bogert Appice album.)

Cheers

TChickwoman -- sounds great to me! Lemme know how to get in touch with you.

On another note, I had one of the coolest, feature-film type dreams EVER last night. It featured me and ol' PT! We were in and around a hotel, laughing and joking around, all smiles, on our way to one of his gigs. It's a bit fuzzy now but I was hanging out in my room waiting for Pat to get ready and realized he had been in his room for awhile. I actually said "Pat" aloud as I called for him, which woke me for a second, but the dream was so cool I dreamed my way back into it. I went down to the lobby and saw Pat heading toward me at a distance -- as he got closer I could see that he was carrying, dragging and at one point WEARING the World Series trophy (I think -- the gold one with all the little flags ringing the outside)!!! hahahah He said someone's name and muttered about them eventually getting it back . . . Then I was supposed to pick him up for the gig and got halfway there before I realized that I had forgotten to pick him up! I turned around and when he wasn't at the hotel I headed back for the Seattle-like waterfront. When I saw a small orange-red-yellow tropical sort of cruise ship scooting by, I knew he was on board so I -- RAN ACROSS THE WATER TO GET TO HIM!!! In my dream I realized that I was walking on water and I actually chuckled : ) I was sure that the laugh would mean an instant plunge into the water but it didn't, so I decided to get out while I was ahead and ran back to shore! oh my goodness, what a bizarre but very cool dream. Pat was himself, I could hear his voice plain as day and we had a great time just hanging out. In that respect it was similar to a dream I had a couple of years ago where a bunch of us die-hards were cruising around on tour with Pat in a seaside environment -- in a big-ass car! Once again everyone had their own room, so I guess I passed the flame test, eh? heh heh heh VERY funny stuff. This one was a great way to start the day -- I got to kick it with ol' PT and didn't even have to leave the house! Must have been the several Heinies I had and the small brush fire that kicked up on my back porch about 1:30 am before bedtime . . . it was the shizzit! had to share that with you guys!

It occurred to me the other day that "Don't Feed the Alligators" must not be one of PT's favorites either (it's not one of mine, I like a couple songs on it but over all doesn't get much play time). I don't remember hearing or hearing about him playing any of the covers from that CD live.

This may work: http://fanforum.ghpg.net/2/OpenTopic?a=cfrm&s=714094744
I first had to register though, and wait a few minutes for it to be confirmed before I could access the forums. It's in the Media Centre forum.

Hope that helps!

Hi guys

Less pleasant 'heads up' (in US speak) this time....

Anyone with a paypal account look out for emails asking for confirmation of personal details! There are fake ones about - I got 2 confirmed as fake by Paypal.

The thing that alerted me (& probably most people would spot) is that it asks for your 'ATM' PIN!

How stoopid do these people think we are.

But according to paypal, a more helpful thing for spotting fakes is that paypal say they never, NEVER ever EVER ask for your paypal password in an email.... The fakes I got did that too.

Let's be careful out there.

TC

By the way there is a scammer trying to get ebay info also. You get an "security updat" email from them. Do NOT enter in any info. Forwar it to spoof@ebay.com The scammer have an entire site that looks exactly like ebay! BEAUTIFUL day today!! Time to jam some PT and enjoy the great outdoors. Peace Out!
