Seen this post on the PT Message Board .... PT acoustic last night was a real blast in Charlotte. Pat was in great spirits and a smaller crowed of maybe 150 enjoyed the show. The local classic rock station was in attendance. This was my first PT acoustic show and I must say I was quite impressed. Pat is such a master of the electric geetar with effects, delays, etc. Playing stripped down really showcases his true talent and further cements his place in history as one of the most talented to ever pick up a 6-string. Great stories, great jokes, and a great performance. Spoke with Pat for a minute or two after the gig. He said Randy and the band are working on the show and that he would be joining them over the next couple of weeks to rehearse for their first show together on February 9th. Was curious if you were from Charlotte ? I was at the show Saturday also at Amos's. I go way back following Pat Travers ..... I'd say '79 or so. I seen him open for Rush of which he mentioned and The Tubes during the Makin' Magic era. I'm originally from Buffalo NY and been here in Charlotte 9 years. With him being from Toronto and me from Buffalo I know many of the canadian acts. When I lived in Lubbock Texas in '94 Pat came through and did a gig at a place called the Midnight Rodeo. Ansley Dunbar and Pat came out after their show which ended at 11 PM and ended up taking the band to a local blues club BJ Belly's to hear some real Texas blues from the house band. We closed up the joint and took them back to the hotel. I had a blast. Pat was one down to earth guy and appreciated taking the time out to do that. I have a few personal friends in the business also. If you are local and want to keep in touch let me know. As always .... PT ROCKS !!! Bill ( billr0812@bellsouth.net ) |
