You know that Hendrix and Pete Townsend were used to destroy their guitars during their shows in the Sixties, so what's new? I think that's just imitation. |

One of the guys that cancelled on us for our last "Dune" trip......cancelled because he's DATING Valerie Bertanelli!! I guess it's pretty serious because he's allready met Eddie at a show w/ Valerie and everything was easy-goin'. Sammy made a mistake jumpin' back on the Van Halen wagon. It just seems even more tarnished......although I love that one new song off the new greatest hits CD. Now Sammy needs to hook back up w/ Ronnie Montrose. All will be complete! haha! g |

I suppose that means that the Terror Alert will be on GREEN indefinately, eh gREG? Even though yer bein' good these days? Just got back from Vegas. I had an interview with a cool firm out there who's making money. Kinda scary to think that I may end up living there, don't ya think? But for the fat salary and the cake job it would be a welcome relief from 17 years of hard grinding trying to stay in biniss. We shall see what we shall see. . . |

Dean can play dat thang! Well, it`s early O`clock in the morning here in the Funshine state and I`ll be out the door in a few minutes to catch Guitarzan, and his jungle band. The TV news say they are expecting around 75,000 fans at the show. They will be shutting down certain roads leading into the park for traffic control at around 10, so`s I gotta scram now. I`ll get the low down from the guys and letcha know what`s up when I return, and I shall return. Ahhh, another fine day of stalking! S`later, JH |

What do I keep tellin' you guys???? TLO ROCKS! Much appreciation and many many many thanks to you Tony for all you do. One of my most memorable experiences of 2004 will always be the NAMM show. It was my first time there and it was sort of an "Ed In Wonderland" experience for me. As a matter of fact I just watched most of the video footage I shot there just this past week. Ahhh the Memories.... Also while my thoughts are tending Northern California I'd also like to express my gratitude and admiration for all my friends in the Wishbox gang. A CLASS act and a great bunch of guys each and every one! See you all next month! |

The BC tribute thing sounds gREAT! Dean smokes!* Rick and Eric are phenoms! Who sings? And where they playin'? *one of the best versions of Snortin' that I've every heard was when Pat was touring as a special guest of the Brian Howe band. The double lead's that Dean and Pat shared still reign supreme in my memories. Not to underscore anyone else who might have shared leads with Pat on Snortin' but sometimes things just turn out magical and the San Bernadino show w/Brian Howe was one of those magical moments. I was blown away by Dean's performance. He's kinda held back while doing his BC riffs. But he really let loose on Snortin' and the most amazing thing is that he did it so effortlessly. Cool, calm and collected. Cool dude , awesome guitar player. And for the ladies out there I quote the world famous Gettin Bette - "Oooo he's sexy..." Off to edit more video.... Have a great Sunday everyone! Hopefully more updates 2nite. |

What a crowd, what a crowd! Jeez, I know it was the biggest crowd I`d ever seen the guys perform in front of!!! I got to the park and traffic was rolling in at a steady rate. I called Rick first, and woke him up. He had come on down the day before to see some friends, and stayed the night at a local hotel. I then called Eric, who was on the road, and helped him navigate his way to the park. My friend Sandy and I then waited backstage for the guys to show up, and jived with the local bands in the meantime. I saw Rick and his girlfriend, Annette, first, then I saw PT, and he had his mom with him, fer real. Eric, and his entourage, showed up about an hour and a half before the first band went on and started off loading his drum set and gear. Everybody said hi, and yahdah-yahdah. The first band started playing at just before noon and did a about a 45 minute set including some decent Robin Trower and Chambers Brothers covers. When the 2nd band went on, I went out front of the stage, and impressed by the size of the crowd. Even the bass player made a comment on the crowd size. The band did some of there own blues/rock tunes and a few covers. When that band left the stage after thier 45 minute set, I went backstage. Our heroes were up next. While the stage crew was changing the gear, Drum1 called me and said that he wasn`t gonna be able to make it because he had to go on a emergency secret mission for G. Bush. Anna Nicole then called me and said she wasn`t coming either because she don`t love me no more! Anna, couldn`t you tell me in person?!?! Sandy and I just hung out under a tent, had a beverage, and watched the ever growing backstage crowd. It took a long, long, time for the sound guys to get it all adjusted. Sandy and I observed a big group of people moving through backstage area and in the middle was Steve Tyler and Richie Sambora. Steve and Rich went straight to a fancy schmancy bus. The PTB did have thier own trailer. After awhile, I did see the PTB pay a neighborly visit to Steve and Richie. As show time approached, I got with Eric and he told me the stage security it was cool for me to go onstage with the band. Well it took awhile, but finally the band went up the steps to the stage. It was then that I noticed Mars with them. They lead off with "Hooked", then "Life", and then the stage security let me up. When I got to the top of the stairs, I was stunned by the size of the crowd!!! The place was packed, elbow to elbow! Sandy was out there somewhere. The sun was out, but the temp was maybe 80 degrees. The guys then did "Whipping Post" and then "Stevie" and another 2 or 3 tunes from thier regular set. Pat then started "Snortin". A huge roar errupted the the humongus crowd, which nearly knocked me off the stage! It was then I noticed Tyler, and Sambora, standing off on the other side of the stage. When the band finished "Boom, Boom", the PTB waved and shouted out, and then that`s when Tyler and Sambora joined them. A quick sound check, and then Tyler was singing about "Pink". I thought they were just trading cookie recipes earlier back in the bus. Steve then began telling the crowd about his "Big 10 Inch". There were a few minor sound glitches, but the guys were having fun, but the guys kept the "Train rolling all (night) day long" Freight was having a blast with that tune! Steve even kept looking back at him, all the while grinning. I thought about taking some pitchers with my kamera from in front of the stage, but the front 100 "rows" was packed tighter,.... than a tightly packed thing! Heck, (`scuse my vulgar language there) even the stage was now packed! It was then that Sambora decided to tell the crowd how he rides a steel horse and that he`s wanted, dead or alive. They all did another song or 2, and then they were done! They all waved to the crowd, threw some frisbees, and left the stage despite the deafining shouts of "MORE!!!" from the crowd. So dat`s da way it went in Ft. Lauderdale on December 5, 2004 S`later, ? |

THE POLICE CONFISCATED THEIR PLANTS AND STASH ,IT TOOK TWO YEARS BUT THE COURT AWARDED THE COUPLE $30,000.00 DOLLARS THATS THIRTY THOUSAND FOR WRONGFULLY TAKEING AND CHARGING THEM. ITS ABOUT TIME SOMEBODY GETS THEIR DAY IN COURT AND GOT THEIR STASH BACK TO. THERE'S HOPE IN HAWAII , PAT TRAVERS RULES |

You'd think that since Mr. Tyler & his Aero-mates went through the same 70's & 80's haze as PT, that they'd have some sort of kinship and bring the mighty PTB on one of their major tours with them. At least one leg of a major tour. Wouldn't THAT be sweet? Of course, maybe they're a little afraid they'd get blown off the stage by our boys in that "little old band from Florida"... A-Haw haw haw....you know what I'm talkin' about... Stalker...you didn't even mention Night Ranger. Were they a no-show? And Scott & Jo....congrats on the good seats at the PTB & Tesla show. That sounds like a good old fashioned rock & roll show, for sure. And...thanks for the GH Christmas CD! His Stevie Wonder influences really show through on that disc, don't you think? And as always...PTB is King! |

Yeah Rockpig, Night Ranger took the stage just as the sun was begining to set. I kinda missed the first few songs. I was hanging out with the guys back in thier trailer, everybody sure was in great mood. Oh yeah, I asked Eric about the Bad Co. tribute thing that he and Rick might be doing in a couple of months. He told me that in would be with Bad Ass REK`s current guitarist, Jay Rosier, if it all comes together. I saw Jay with them back in October, and again, another central Floriduh talent. The guys packed up and headed on back to Orlando just before night fall, and I went out and caught the rest of Night Ranger. Night Ranger sounded superb and was just as smooth as ever. Pat did mention that this was his last show for the year, and hopes that he can do another TNA cd in awhile. |

I'll second those remarks, great pics! Very cool to see Pat with Steven Tyler! My very first PT show was at the Oakland Stadium with Aerosmith headlining, back in '78. Mr Tyler wore a t-shirt from that show when he inducted AC/DC into the R&R Hall of Fame (they were also on the bill, with Van Halen & Foreigner). Bet Pat & Steve had some good old times to talk about! Cheers, Steve Z |

My first PT show was opening for Aerosmith on the Black Pearl Tour. If anyone ever has any doubts as to how highly respected PT is in the music business then look no futher than bands that he's opened for AND bands that opened for PTB. The list is endless-Rush, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, BOC, Journey, Rainbow, KISS, Nugent, Scorpions, etc. all come to mind just off the top of my head. |

I have never seen these guys, so I am really looking forward to it, hubby says Tommy Lee is an incredible drummer! We are also going to the Travers, Tesla, Night Ranger show next month! Just woke up and flipped onto CNN as I always do in the morning, and the report of the Dimebag shooting incident was on. I stood there in amazement as I watched this, not believeing what I was hearing! I'm not the biggest Pantera or Damageplan fan, but I have always very much appreciated Dimebag's six string talents and his obvious dedication to hard rock guitar. I've read plenty of interviews with Dime where he gives major high praise to Pat, and he would always mention how "Go For What You Know" should be required listening for every serious guitarist or lover of guitar based music. I agree with you Ed...the world is getting crazier. What the Hell is WRONG with so many people these days??? I just don't understand why or how this could happen (although the initial reports are that the shooter had previous contact with the band and there was a grudge of some sort). I also know that Dimebag was one of Beseau's favorite guitarists, so I know he's out there bumming out as well. What a major bummer way to start a new day. When news like this hits, those existential thoughts and questions really rush into the thought process. Stories like this are proof of the hard reality that none of us ever truly know when our last day is, so live each day to the fullest as if it's your last must be one of the hard lessons learned here. And remember to tell those that mean the most to you & your life that you love them. Onward & upward..... Rest in peace, Dimebag. |

First thing this morning, 5:45 am, I awoke to the news. I have hung out with Dime and Vinnie at concerts, clubs, naked bars, etc. Vinnie ran the sound board at one of my favorite Travers shows. Afterwards, a wet t-shirt contest evolved into a slew of topless women. I have known him and of him since early '80's when Pantera was a big hair local band playing Ratt, Cinderella, and Motley Crue covers at Savvy's in Fort Worth. What a sad, crappy day... Later... |

Dime was definately a huge PT fan ....he knew every note and learned much from PT's playing. Dime and Vinnie were with me last year at Graffiti's in Dallas for PT.......it was a true pleasure to have visited with such a nice guy and incredible talent. He was so happy to talk about his new project "Damageplan" saying everything in his life was coming together finally..........he felt mature, focused and ready for a new chapter in metal. The metal nation is reeling over this one....unexplainable, painful and emotional to say the least. God bless this man and the others that lost thier lives.........damn it hurts! |

Hey Steve Z, Not only is Dimebag's death the same day that Lennon was shot 24 years ago, but December 8th is also the day that Vince Neil had the car crash that killed Razzle, Hanoi Rocks drummer in 1984. I'm still having a difficult time wrapping my head around what happened last night. Concerts are the one place where rockers go to so that they can get away from the grind & B.S. of daily life! Now that very same contaminated, sick mindset has filtered into our "playground" (so to speak) and we don't even have a safe place to escape to and unwind at....Man, I really miss the 70's & 80's shows when people in the crowd were respectful to each other and generally mellow (due to the same stashbox that Scott spoke of). Just too many people in society "Coming Up The Hard Way" as Pat put it, and now that restlessness is smacking civility up side the head... Apparently this moronic killer never heard Pat's song "Dedication". Maybe, in a perfect world, something as simple as hearing a song like that might have made a difference in that lost soul's life. I'd like to think so anyway... |

Rockpig!
| Posted on Friday, December 10, 2004 - 07:46 am: | |
Please, let's don't start the "gun control" debate here. I don't even own a gun, probably never will, and I have no use for one...however, I'm sensible enough to know that it's not the gun that kills people...it's ALWAYS the moron behind it pulling the trigger that kills people. This guy could have easily used a knife or any other means of choice to accomplish what he did. Regarding the metal detector issue, I think that's a great idea, but some of the initial reports claim that this goober came in through the back of the club, most likely the backstage door or loading ramp area. All the metal detectors in the world at the entrance wouldn't have stopped this guy. He could have also attacked Dime at various other times. Upon band arrival for load in & soundcheck, after the show, or if the band was staying at a hotel that particular night he might have been able to attack at that time. This guy was hellbent on doing what he accomplished, and without Dime or his entourage having any clues this was gonna happen there was no way of stopping the murder. The sad thing is, guns & the lack of metal detectors (in this particular case) were not at fault here. The only place to lay blame is on that demented no-life LOSER that killed Dime... It's as simple as that. |

| Posted on Friday, December 10, 2004 - 07:54 am: | |
I agree Blur......twisted minds determined to kill will use any means, not just guns. Airplanes into buildings, bombs, anthrax in mail, knives in the back........the issue at hand might rest with better overall security at any live performance of an entertainer. Access to backstage and performers themselves has to be tightened significantly in light of this and other events. But small venues with a limited budget often times have just enough to pay the artist and little to invest in tight security measures........not to mention, who in the hell would anticipate a murder like this in the first place? Not knowing who the crazy idiot is forces precaution across the board now.....bands are going to be less likely to play small "fill-in" date venues with little to no security.....baracades that put distance between bands and fans will be a norm, more personnel to secure backstage will be mandated, ticket prices may even go higher for tighter measures, the list goes on. Everyone from Motley Crue to Ozzy are saying this event will change the way they do business on the road.....every fan may just be the crazy fan with a weapon......because ya just don't know. Dime use to wonder around free of fear in small clubs, even watching PT with me in Dallas.....a lunatic could have taken out PT and Dime and Vinnie Paul that night too.....how to better protect these guys is gonna be a big question in months to come. Like Columbine High School......it's all so unexplainable. Peace! |

Got a show to play tonight, and Dimebag's fate is definitely on all our minds. Any performer, on any level, is subject to the whim of some crazed lunatic. And yeah, we can't expect tight security at every little bar & club. The bigger ones have it, but even at the big concerts, it's so hard to enforce. I missed the first 20 minutes of Rush earlier this year because of the security line. By the time we finally got up there, they hardly searched us at all, because they had to get the people inside. The sad thing is that the club's security saw this guy hop the fence & go in, and tried to follow him, but didn't reach him in time. Cheers, Steve Z |

Ed ........life is good other than the loss of Dime yesterday. He was a longtime freind that played in studios here in Houston long ago......my brother's band opened for Pantera many times and we all hung out, drank, chased women and drank some more.....made memories for a lifetime as kids in the 80's.... Hangin with him was more than fun and watching the guy play was more than that! But like Randy Rhoads, Stevie Marriott and SRV ..we move on never forgetting what they gave us. With Dime gone now, if Seagrams stops making Crown Royal I'm checking out!!!!!! Hey LA peeps. I saw my friends Dishwalla last night -- what a class act! Those guys are excellent musicians. The show was just a warmup for their coming tour, which will start when they release album #5 in February, so it was a real treat. They played about half of the new album, and it is very hard-edged! A cool new direction for them. They ended the show with "All of My Love" by Led Zeppelin -- Steve, you would've been impressed! It was flawless. They're playing next Friday night in Agoura, at the Canyon Club. Go see them if you get a chance! |

Hey Randal, That's great news about Dishwalla! Their Debut was in heavy rotation in my car when it came out back in '96 (or was it '97?). Absolutely loved it! But I gotta admit, I've bought all of their preceding releases and with each release I felt that they didn't have that "rawk" element, were a bit soft, and seemed to lack focus or direction. Almost like they were headed in an adult contemporary direction! Never could understand that, as they were really good when they rocked out. I also felt they did it with a certain class & elegance. And the vocalist actually SANG...imagine that! REALLY pleased to hear that they are headed back to their rockin' roots! I look forward to seeing them in Seattle should they make it up this way. |

Happy Monday everyone...Here's a tidbit I found that some of you, especially "Brian Maybe", will find interesting... QUEEN MEETS BAD COMPANY FOR 2005 TOUR: It seems Queen will tour in 2005, with Roger Taylor and Brian May deciding on Paul Rodgers as the man to fill the mighty shoes of the late, great Freddy Mercury. The 2005 tour looks to take in Europe and the UK at this stage. No word as yet as to whether John Deacon will be involved. The moniker for the tour will be Queen And Paul Rodgers. The guys are being quoted as saying the following: Roger Taylor: "We decided we gonna do a Queen tour. We're touring in Deutschland, in Germany, and Europe next spring. So, first time in many years: a Queen tour - brand-new news and we are very excited to do that. ... We have a fantastic singer ... his name is Paul Rodgers. ... He was one of Freddie's favourite singers - and one of our favourite singers." Brian May: "We didn't finally push the button yet, but really we made the decision that we want to do this [a tour next year]. Finally we found a singer that we want to work with. It doesn't mean he joins the band. Nobody is replacing Freddie. ... Paul Rodgers ... we thought okay, this is somebody worthy of going out with and making something new. ... Completely BIZZARE about the Ohio shooting!!! I wonder how many of the warning signs, and I`ll bet there were plenty, were ignored by those that knew the demmented,....whatever you what to call him. Hey Drum1, how ya, and everybody else, doin'? Yo Richphotos, I`m planning on going digital with the kamera stuff early next year and I`m seeking advice. If ya can, would ya send me some general info in regards to selecting, and using, said contraption, at rawk koncerts? e-mail inboard@earthlink.net I was at big barbecue at the local Hard Rock this past Saturday. Several local favorites doing thier thang, and a traveling band called Indigenous closed it out. Indigenous can flat out rock! The event was held in the middle of a large shopping plaza and was first class all the way! This weekend Les Dudek is back in the neighborhood. I missed him last time cuzz I was such a fool. After talking to several people that saw him last time, I ain`t gonna miss him this time. Sure hope everyone is having a great holiday season! I inflated my Christmas tree last night, and she sure is a beauty! I think I`ll name her Anna Nicole. S`later, JH |

Hi Travers Fans... Just thought I would remind you all to go see the new movie, Sideways...it is excellent. Best of all, it features an old PT song during what Pat says is "a white trash sex scene."...(you will have to see it to find out which song)....The movie is up for an academy award which would be great for Pat's exposure. In cinemas near you!!! And tell your friends! |

Long time lurker and long time PT fan. Saw Pat for the first time the in the mid 1980's, more recently this year in Dallas, and several times in between. Pat has been one the biggest influences in my guitar playing. I noticed that the current pic on the home page shows him playing a PRS McCarty. In addition, there is now a link to PRS. What is the scoop on PT and his connection with PRS? Just curious. Merrick |

'QUEEN MEETS BAD COMPANY FOR 2005 TOUR: It seems Queen will tour in 2005, with Roger Taylor and Brian May deciding on Paul Rodgers as the man to fill the mighty shoes of the late, great Freddy Mercury' OMIGOD!!! I have died and gone to heaven!!! I don't know if you got to see any of it over in the US, but They played We Will Rock You/Champions and Alright Now on a TV show over here a few weeks back and it was awesome. They had Pino Palladino on bass and Paul Rodgers sounded incredible. It worked. Maybe it's because he's a rock singer, not a pop singer like some of the people they've worked with recently and he sang 'em his own way. It was spine tingling stuff That should be an amazing tour. |

The PRS on the Homepage could possibly be a "loaner" from Wishbox. Regarding the endorsement not being listed at the PRS website, maybe that will be announced at the upcoming NAMM show. Then again, maybe there isn't even an endorsement deal. Guess we'll see soon. |

Here's a bit of PT related news I just spotted on the 'Net... PAT TRAVERS AND CARMINE APPICE ON THE NEXT CHRIS CATENA ALBUM: The legendary drummer Carmine Appice and the great guitar player Pat Travers will appear on Chris Catena's next album which will include 12 songs (10 originals and two covers) and which will be harder than Freak Out!. The provisory title is Busted. Among the other players is worth to mention Doug Aldrich, Bruce Kulick, Kee Marcello, Tony Franklin, Marco Mendoza, Steve Salas and others to confirm. In the same time Chris is still working on his album of covers Discovery: The Return of the Galactic Freakboy and to a live album Still Alive and Freakin' which has been recorded and will be mixed within December. |

I got to meet Doug at the PT Coach House gig with Carmine -- I get the feeling there was alot of talking going on back then, on accounta what's come out of it so far! MAN, like Tony Lo said, "2005 is gonna be amazing" or something like that Strat, funny! I'm still smilin'! I'll bet Tony Lopez can answer the PRS question . . . |

Hey Jimmy "Big Pipe" Beseau, Got my "erector set" yesterday! Thanks for the Refreshments too...Gonna build a big, firm Monster Magnet in very short time...In the immortal words of a very classic Jerry Lewis..."Hey ladies!" Man, I've met some truly wonderful friends thanks to this PT site. I know this seems to be gibberish to all of you, but Top Jimmy will understand completely. JB...we need to hook up for a PTB gig & stiff drinks sometime in '05! Scott...have you seen the footage of Deep Purple at Cal Jam in '74 with Mr. Hughes? Anyone heard about the PTB doing shows this Spring with Mountain, Vanilla Fudge & Canned Heat? Apparently there are already shows established with tickets already up for sale... And as always...PTB is King! |

Hello Hammerheads... One of my absolute favorite websites WWW.ROADIE.NET has an amazing story about what really happened at the Damageplan show last week. It's worth your time to go check it out... When you get to the mainpage, just click the link that reads "Exclusive Eyewitness Account Of Shooting". While you're at that website, take a look around. Lot's of very funny and cool stuff to be found there, and it will ease the heaviness of the exclusive story... |
