Well I'm 80% recovered from last weeks shows...

Saturday was by far better than Thursday's show. Hard to believe but it's true!

The T-N-A set was particularly HOT! The new stuff is meant to be played hard and loud. And they played it just the way it was meant to be played. Very hard, very loud. It's really some pretty great stuff. Best PT in quite some time. IMHO.

The acoustics at the Hollywood venue seemed to be much better than in Anaheim - so maybe that helped a bit.

It was also great meeting and seeing all the bands. Especially two of my long time R&R hreos - Carmine Appice and Tim Bogart.

Last but not least - Great seeing Daryl & Kathi again! It was also an absolute blast having Bruce fly in for the shows! Long time no see buds! Let's not wait so long before we get together again!!! K?

Steveo - glad your shows went OK up north! Yur velcome fur da pics! (It's one of my many hobbies - I feel nekkid without my camera at a show) Wish you could've made the shows show here... you would have beed duely impressed. But you have to keep that Zepagain train-a-chugging...

Ha! Those are great! I'm doin fine, thanx for the concern......just getting old...er. The recovery time from big crashes just seems to take longer and longer......no matter how much I believe I'm still 20! HA! Don't worry Randal, I'll just order it somehow. But thanks so much! It seemed like VH1 was gonna sponser a whole tour for the Vanilla F/Mountain? PT tour and the CA gigs were just warm ups for the big tour.....I guess not. Any news Ed? Gotta take some more Ibprofen and soak in the tub......as E.T. would say, "OOoooouch." g

Hi Drum1, I haven`t yet been to the new Hard Rock on the indian reservation, but a local favorite band will be playing there in a few weeks so I`ll check it out then. Nope, never heard of a local band named Pearl. I`m really looking forward to the blues fest this weekend. Strange that the Dec.5 PTB gig isn`t posted here yet. It is listed on Rick and Erics BAR site, with the corrected date, and I`ve heard it mentioned on the radio a time or two while cruisin' about.

Sure hope gREG didn`t suffer any brain damage in his most recent wreck!

Posted on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 - 07:09 pm:

Yeah, UFO rocked, must have, I've been sick in bed ever since! Definitely a different vibe with this lineup, but they still did justice to it all. They did quite a bit from the new album, plus these classics: Let It Roll, Mother Mary, This Kids, I'm A Loser, Shoot Shoot, Doctor Doctor, Only You Can Rock Me, Too Hot To Handle, Love To Love, Lights Out, Rock Bottom.

Jason Bonham was very solid on drums, and Vinnie Moore is unquestionably a great player, but not as much style as Schenker. Very enjoyable, though!

Cheers,
Steve Z

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Walked up to the Travers & Appice bin about 5, and selected the ONLY cd in the bin. WHEW! heart pounding, mind racing -- I DID IT! fer gREG, my honor. Naturally, I advised the young Gothic hemaphodite at the counter that I had taken the LAST CD, and thought it would want to know -- so it could refill the bin (and I use that term loosely) NOW rather than waiting for another androgynous staffperson to do so at the end of the night. It appeared to appreciate the news . . .

I had planned to also select one Kings X CD, so while I was there I bought two --- "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska" and "Faith Hope Love by Kings X."

I have the former in initial rotation with track "Over My head" on now. ALREADY -- thankya much to those Hammerheads who suggested this band (I'll look back at old messages and see. I know Strat was one, but He Always Is. Can't wait to hear what else is coming! Working late, so I'll hear it all. TESTAMENT: Coulda bought the "Best of" but didn't -- and we all know that takes alot of balls! nighty night

Oh yeah gREG -- expect your box to contain alot of balls in a day or two. I sent my package quickly

Man, that doesn't even SOUND right

Oh well, enjoy the memories and the snapshot of your past (YOU figure it out) -- and no, I don't THINK he's gay . . .

hey folks how've you all beeeeen!!! Sorry haven't posted in a while, been busy on the personal side.

I have to say I am really diggin' on TnA! Finally, the PT sound and song writing reminiscent of Makin' Magic and Heat in the Streets. Iquana is a prime example of that.

I don't see the big deal about TM as bass player, don't care for that song...kind of creeps me out actually, I'm not interested in hearing that guy's sex talk, but that's me. I like everything else though.

On the very good news side, me and the missus just celebrated our 20th anniversary! It's had it "stressful" moments obviously, but by an large I think we're gonna make it for the long haul!

The PTB is getting a bit of national exposure. Just spotted this on the Internet. Should be a great gig for PT, Eric & Rick! Read on....and as always...PTB is KING!

VINCE NEIL, STEVEN TYLER, RICHIE SAMBORA To Take Part In Christmas Toys In The Sun Run [Rock Hard - 04.11.19 12:31:48]

The Miami Herald (www.miami.com) reports that more than 30,000 motorcyclists are expected to hit the highway on December 5th for the 17th annual Christmas Toys In The Sun Run.

The toy run for needy children is billed as the world's longest motorcycle parade, benefiting Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation.

Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne will lead the 26-mile parade to the park, along with Steven Tyler from AEROSMITH, Richie Sambora from BON JOVI and Vince Neil from MOTLEY CRUE.

The cycle parade will leave from Pompano Harness Track, 1800 SW 3rd St., Pompano Beach, at 10 AM and end at Markham Park, 16001 West State Road 84, in Sunrise. It is expected to take three hours for the last cyclists to reach the park.

More than 100,000 people are expected to attend the festival in the park, which will include an afternoon concert by NIGHT RANGER and PAT TRAVERS.

By the way, regarding the post I just dropped below...It's a shame the Vince, Steven & Ritchie got the headline exposure from this news report. Night Ranger & the PTB should have gotten this spotlight! After all, it's more of a service to work the gig than to kick back and just ride a Harley and grab the headlines...Just my two cents worth...

Hats off to the PTB & Night Ranger for their efforts!

Git reddy, gREG. I imagine you'll have it in time for Mondie Night Football. BTW, I'm going to Vegas this weekend to play, then back on the 2nd for an interview. Must have the Midas Touch, because even though I had never stayed there and only played there ONCE, I'm being comped at THE VENETIAN for two nights! LOVELY! I'll be at the sportsbook watching football all day Sundie, then golfing Monday and more football that night. Oh yeah -- I'm gonna try to get in to see Blue Man Group. Ponyboy! Man, The Outsiders was one of my favorite books when I was a kid. Talk about COOL.

Just got a full price offer on my office building ($1.2M!!), but we still don't want to sell. Everything seems to be coming together after a long bad stretch, which means new work, outside job offers and the hotel are all heading toward me at light speed. YIKES!! what to do . . . hopefully the hotel happens and it takes care of ALL other issues. Wish me luck

Eric and Rick, the Orlando trip is off. I was coming out to earn enough miles for Alaska Airlines' MVP Gold status, which is great, but when I called them to book the trip I found out I still wouldn't make it by year end, even with the trip. I'll be out at some point, but not this time.

Honestly, I don't know who makes me laugh harder around here, gREG or "Big Pipe" Beseau...

Speaking of a rumble...did anyone else catch the highlights of the Detroit Pistons vs. Indiana Pacers vs. The Fans game last night? Whoa! A potent combination of NBA & WCW!!! I see lawyers salivating & circling like sharks around that whole mess...

For those other than gREG still having difficulty finding the TNA CD in sales counting stores, I still strongly urge you to ask your local neighborhood Mom & Pop record store to order it for you! Last night I did just that. I was looking for a 2nd copy to give a friend for Christmas and the store did not have it in stock (obviously!). I told the staff help (apparently not the same gothic hermorphadite that Randal experienced) that I wanted to support them & special order a CD so that they would get the business & the artist could get their royalties instead of buying it off of Ebay, and you wouldn't believe the grin I got out of the sales guy! I told him the title (another grin from the staff guy) and the record label (SPV/Steamhammer) and he found it, wrote down the UPC number, took my phone number and said "I'll call you in a week!". And he thanked me again for buying through him instead of off the Internet. I left that place with a good natural buzz (first one of those in a while!). On top of that, it was still only gonna run $15.99 through special order, while those on Ebay are selling pretty much at the same price, plus you have to pay shipping, as well as run the risk of a bogus seller, although that is more rare these days than when Ebay first started. Still...a good deal for all involved...

And as always...PTB is King!

I just can't imagine UFO without MS.

Ironically, the one time I saw Vinnie play was as a warmup act for the MSG. It was kind of an unusual arrangement - Michael's band backed Vinnie during his set - and then did their thing with Michael.

This is a comment from Uriah on his website regarding the CD and the press TM is getting on it (for one stinkin', and I do mean "stinkin'" song!):

"For all you old rockers out there, Carmine Appice, Pat Travers and myself recorded and album! Almost everywhere on the web affiliates their friend TM Stevens as the bassist, but it was I who worked on the bass lines for 12 or so tracks in three days in a small San Fernando Valley studio! I guess just knowing I did it will be good enough."

Let's make sure we give Uriah his props, eh! The man rocks - period - end

Hey Hooked,

Thanks for the interview link! That was a very informative interview. I especially was thrilled to read Pat's response to the last couple of questions. Obviously just a guess on my part since I'm not a band insider, but it appears that even Pat is growing weary of doing the same old blues based album over & over and is finally ready to rock out again. That, to me, is VERY refreshing news! I also hope that Eric & Rick finally get to do a proper PTB release, and that it is the two of them that get to record with Pat on the upcoming Pat Travers Band release that Pat mentions recording Dec. thru Feb. It would also be interesting to see if Pat does indeed re-record some of his older material. I'm sure that is a smart financial move, since the copyrights to the older original stuff (Polydork) aren't in Pat's hands anymore, from what I understand. Re-recording some of the older songs would mean that Pat would own more of the royalty percentages again from the newer recordings. The flip side is, if they aren't recorded up to the standards set by the originals, that could possibly be a bummer. But of course we all have faith in what this talented bunch of fellers can do, don't we? Sounds like '05 will hopefully be a busy time for the band, and us as fans will possibly get a fair chunk of new material to listen to! Sure hope "that darned elusive horse" shows up in '05 as well...

Good news indeed, and as always...PTB is KING!

Very cool interview, Hooked, thanks for that! Got the TNA CD crankin here for a soundtrack!

TCF, yeah, UFO was definitely very enjoyable. A different vibe without Schenker, but then again, I play in tribute bands, so I'm used to things sounding a little different! :-) Phil Mogg sounded great, and it was great to hear all those songs live.

Just a heads up to all the PT fans here...

Last night I made a grilled cheese sandwich and just as I was about to eat it, I noticed what looked like a PTB logo in the melted cheese pattern! Whoa!!! So instead of eating it, I've decided to put it up on eBay. Starting bid is $30,000.00. Now this may seem a bit steep, but recently a cheese sandwich with a likeness of Mary on it fetched $28,000.00 on eBay, so if this one has the PTB logo....well it MUST be worth more, right? I just wanted to give all the PTB fans first chance at this one of a kind item, because darn it, it belongs to a real PTB fan!

Up for auction next will be an autographed pair of boxing gloves signed by Ron Artest!

Speaking of PT playing the Tralf...

What would it take to get PT and the boys for a private party for just us Hammerheads? Heck we've been hanging here for a few years (I've been here since June '01) and some a lot longer.

We need a major Hammerhead party! We'd need a local with cheap plan fare (SouthWest comes to Buffalo), some lodging, and a place for them to plug in a couple amps and setup a drumkit.

If there's interest, I'll look around and put together some costs to get something here in Buffalo next summer.

First question - I think maybe someone here might know - how much for a PT gig with Eric and Rick? Special night, so we'd probably want to get 2 hours of jamming if we could.

I saw Todd Rundgren there this past summer...the place was packed, and hot! But it was worth it.

I've seen a few local bands there, but Todd is the only 'big' name I've seen there.

I would love to see PT come there....

Rockpig - My first RUSH show was on their 'Hemispheres' tour & I've seen every tour since. I don't think UFO have played here since the tour you mentioned. "My plans in the near future are to go to Japan the 28th to work with a Japanese Artist then fly back to the States to LA for an "All Star Band" recording. What I know so far is that the rythym section will be Mr. Big's bass player Billy Sheehan and Simon Philips (Jeff Beck, Toto, The Who, MSG and many others) on drums.Vocals so far, involve: Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow) and Tommy Shaw (Styx). I'll be playing Lead Guitar only on all songs."

I saw Mars about 6 months ago hanging around a PTB show, with Pat, in Ft.Lauderdale. Later on during the show Mars was invited to join PT onstage, but he declined. Several months before that Mars did join PT, Niko McBrain, onstage at another PTB show in Ft.Lauderdale. I think that there are some pics in the photo section of this website of the PT, Niko, Mars, onstage re-union. If not, I probably still have the pics of said re-union stashed on my kumpewtr.

Well, I got Jimmy "Boom Boom " Gonzales to head out to Fairfield fri. night . 40 min ride , comedy club , "Pepper Belly's" . Capacity I'd say, 350 . They have a PA and are doing some rock shows . After some good laughs from a comedian P T hits the stage promptly @ 9:58 . Opens with one of the new T&A songs . I wouldn't have known but Pat was mentionig where the new stuff was throughout the set . I had not seen PTB for at least 4 years . He gets on stage and is somewhat workmen like in getting down to the task at hand . A R&R Show ! After a couple of adjustments on the sound we got an hour of songs from very early parts of his carreer . You can see he's no spring chicken but looked fit and very happy to be back in Nor Cal . Set was pretty fast paced but a couple of times he had to change guitars of which he had plenty of at side of the stage . I can remember very nice versions of " Life in London " and "Gettin Better ". "Hooked on Music " had a looseness to it which told me he was getting into the crowds appreciation of thhe band coming into town .So he gives em " R & R Susie " , very cool . He ran through "Stevie " and I actually liked it very much . I've heard him do it too many times . He saved "Snortin" till the last half of the set . And of course , " Boom Boom " really as it always is the crowd favorite .After a full hour he came back for twenty minutes with " Born under a Bad Sign " and at least one more tune . Good stuff . Band sounded pretty slick . The drummer was not on a riser but was a bit scrawnny , dirty blond or light brown hair and kicked ass . Bass player was a guy with great hair and mustache , big weight lifter muscles . Took a a solo . He had another guy on guitar which I kept thinking looked like an older Larry Mondello from " Leave it to Beaver " . But all these guys put down enough fire power to keep Pat flying through the set . It was a blast . He's in Tahoe tonight ...Hmmm ..no, I'm too old and cranky to get there but I'll catch him again . He came out for autographs but we couldn't stay .

Hey PT Fanatic, that was Wishbox you saw backing Pat. They've been playing most of the West Coast dates for the past year or two, with occasional exceptions where Rick Navarro and Eric Frates of the Pat Travers Band play bass and drums, respectively. It was fun to hear you describe Ben the drummer and Sal the bass player, 'cause it was pretty clear they weren't Rick and Eric! Those who know 'em know what I mean -- Eric ain't scrawny by any stretch of the imagination, and Rick is not exactly a body-builder type! hahahaha

Anyone trying to hold up Anna Nicole Smith at a concert better have medical personnel on standby. She packs a punch even after losing all that weight.

Here's a story I never thought I'd see in my lifetime...Less than 5,000 attendance???? Did anyone else also hear the story of Eddie blowing up on stage at their final gig, totally destroying two of his guitars...one of them being his favorite, main guitar throughout the tour? What's up, Edward???

VAN HALEN Concert Loses Money [Rock Hard - 04.11.30 15:43:39]

Fargo, ND’s InForum News (www.in-forum.com) have issued the following report:

The Halloween VAN HALEN concert proved to be a frightful event for the Fargodome.

Not only did the show not generate any money for the dome, it ended up costing the facility $25,000 to pull off. That money was paid to the promoter, Joe Fletcher Presents, to offset his loss.

Fargodome General Manager Rob Sobolik said the promoter, who fronted the money to bring the act to the dome, will lose about $250,000 on the dismally attended concert.

The $25,000 came from an event promotion fund in the 2004 dome budget.

"It (the concert) just didn't work," Sobolik said at a Fargo Dome Authority meeting Monday night. "I learned a lesson about what people are willing to pay for a ticket."

Van Halen tickets ranged from $40 to $84.50. Ticket prices are set by the promoter and the act. The Fargodome even tried slashing ticket prices for a short time period, but that didn't do much for overall sales. The Van Halen concert had 4,618 paid attendees.

Hey TC, The "2004" CD is a CD that the guys were selling after the last Orlando PTB gig. It is half live, and half studio recordings. It is with Rick and Eric, and is a major fave of mine. I think, but I`m not sure, that it might really be the long over due "The Horse You Rode In On". I`ll ask the guys about it on Sunday.

Hey Blur, I`m gonna tell Anna that I`m really an 85 year old jillionaire, with a bad heart, and then she`ll do me for sure!

I've heard so many stories about this one - it's hard to say what the truth is. He definitely did bust up a guitar or two. Whether he did it just for shi+s and grins - or he did it in a rage - is the $64,000 question.
