How about Nicko McBrain with his own band performing Sept. 4th? I really liked what he brought to Pat's sound in the early days. He and Mars brought us the "funk" on Puttin' It Straight And Makin' Magic. |

hahahahahaha you guys crack me up. Strat, that was one of your best! True, but funny. Blur, no I didn't make it to Charlotte. I'm going to Orlando to see a buddy Sept 16-20, taking in the Seahawks whooping of the Bucs. Hopefully I'll be able to see BAR . . . Eric? You guys in town then? Speaking of Orlando, holy sheets!!!! Looks like you're gonna get a direct hit. YIKES! I had the once-in-a-lifetime honor of walking around in the eye of Hurricane Gilbert in the Yucatan Peninsula, circa '88. If you get the chance, DO IT! Quite a thrill. Just make sure you get back to the house before the wall hits -- it's serious business and it doesn't care if you're still outside! Mr. Howe, that was no g-string and it ain't no boa! YOU figure it out! hahahaha Now why can't WOMEN do stuff like that? Well Strat, I'm on again for Atrocities for the reunion. Talked Grace out of the Grand Canyon, since it'll be hotter than the PTB out there. Grace and Jake are coming too. We're gonna go to Lake Wallowa tomorrow and head for Pasco-of-all-Places Fridie (as they say in Washington). Brother Scott will probably have his boat in the water Saturday or Sunday -- any chance you can come over? I'm sure we'll have other buddies in tow . . . Damn, gREG -- you get around! You famous bastard ya |

That hurricane is predicted to strike the central Floriduh area, and it is a really big and bad storm. I`m getting out all my storm gear tonight just to be safe, in case it makes a sudden turn like the one that struck the west coast of FL the other week. I was just at the store and the place was packed with people buying up supplies. Eric, Rick, and PT, good luck with the storm situation and if theres anything I can do for ya after it passes, just call. Randal, don`t pack yer Orlando bag just yet. |

Randal-let me know when you make it to the Queen City and we'll tip a cold one in salute to the greatest slinger of them all. My prayers are with everyone in Florida. We're no stranger to hurricanes in North Carolina. We've been hit lightly a few times this year and pounded unmercilessly in the past. This one could impact lots of people. |

Hey Eric, thanks for letting us crash at your place Sat. night. We appreciate your hospitality. How was your gig Sunday night? We were getting pretty tried on the way back to Tampa. Not sure if we would've made it that night in Orlando....not without a couple of Red Bulls and a Mountain Due as a chaser!! Happy Birthday!!!!!! I hope your day was a relaxing one. (Did you catch up on your sleep?! ~~Nancy~~ We're hoping this Hurricane Frances doesn't come your way. People are still recovering from 2 weeks ago. You could always come here and stay with us untill it's over. We'll have a hurricane party in Delaware!! Cool. No fear of being blown away or flooded....just party with friends and a little drinky-drink. |

Happy Barfday Freight! First round, and the one after that, and the one after that are on me when you visit here in Seattle next time. Sorry we missed you after the gig at the hotel, but we were busy trashing Rick's room! TV's smash real good when dropped from the 2nd floor! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.. I'm guessing you made it back to the club for your travel bag? Glad to hear the "East Coast Family" had a great time in O-Town. Wish I could've been there! Surf's up! Hang ten! I'll be thinkin' about all of you in FLA this weekend. I really hope this storm dies out somewhat before it slams ashore. Maybe you all should consider moving to the OTHER side of the neighborhood....like the West Coast??? Good luck & hang tight... |

Happy 19th Birthday, Eric! DAMN you're good for a kid yer age. Hope your head isn't hurting from the joy of another birthday . . . Like Rockpig said, sorry we missed ya. Wires crossed? We DID learn that even though it looks like you can't fit those hotel chairs through a hotel window, all ya gotta do is take 'em apart. No screwdriver? No problem -- a little tap against the mirror and they just take themselves apart! And guess what -- now the mirror will fit too!! Bill, I'll have my cell in Pasco if you make it over. Scott says we'll be on the river Sunday, as long as it's not a nasty sandstorm of a day. Have a great weekend everybody -- I'm starting right now. Batten down the hatches, Floridians. |

From Rod's link, text dropped into an online German to English translator! I think we can at least get the gist of it! Or after a second read, maybe not!!
Quote:TRAVERS & APPICE - skirt music for people with Mumm in the bones If skirt Koryphaeen make such as guitarist/singers Pat Travers and schlagzeuger Carmine Appice common cause and for this purpose the master of all bass classes T.M. of stevens to the side get themselves, the result can be characterised only by technical gloss achievements and a due portion of energy. It Takes A plumb bob OF of ball is called the current album of Travers & Appice and becomes fair its title: Here genuine men make skirt music for people with Mumm in the bones. Strength-defying Bluesrock with full of seeds guitar reef, and refined whipping sounds of impact things bass Grooves distinguish the 13 pieces of the album, are it the driving Opener ' Better From A Distance`, the cracking ' I Don't Care`, that in typical Southernrock tradition ' Can't put on escape The Fire` or gentler tones in ' Hey You`. Pat Travers shows up thereby not only as a specialist for energetic Powerchords and speedy Soli, but intersperses fantastic Slide parts again and again or points to ' conditions Up` that he controls also the rules of the radio skirt from the FF. "the photographs came as from a casting, so that we wrote, show up the album almost exclusively in the studio" to Carmine Appice completely enthusiastically. "we planned actually only or two pieces, but the material was written as from alone. Probably our public will be completely inspired. I admire Pat already for a long time. This co-operation was worth it all the years after to have waited." On It Takes A plumb bob OF of ball throw now these three exception musicians all their abilities together into the scale pan. The result is a timeless, ambitioniert played and strong Bluesrock album, with which not only the technical abilities of the Einzelkoenner, but above all also the exquisite Songwriting are the center of attention. As Carmine Appice said to It Takes A plumb bob OF of ball so appropriate: "there is some the best Songs, which I ever wrote and took up." "It Takes A plumb bob OF Balls" appears on 04 October.

Thanks Jimmy B! Damn, I love that! I've always been amused at literal translations between the language barriers. "It Takes A Plumb Bob Of A Ball"! I don't know about anyone else, but that's what I'm officially calling this album! That's too funny. Gotta love it... I also liked the line ..."Here genuine men make skirt music for people with Mumm in the bones." Not QUITE sure what that means, but I sure like the sound of it! I'm sure I'm gonna really like the sound of this CD too when it finally comes out...As well as that Horse that's been so hard to track down... And as always...PTB is King! |

I Love it!!! Gimme that translator!!! I guess I'll have to help out. Rock in German means Skirt. Rock or Rockmusic does not translate to skirt music!! Mumm translates to guts. I gotta stop. Sorry not today i am totally cracking up while reading this. Any vibrations in the US are not earthquakes, it's me in Germany laughing my head of. Rod from G |

Still can't get over it. But if you look at the bottom you will see who's idea it was. "As Carmine Appice said IT TAKES A PLUMB BOB OF BALLS" I wonder what they had to enhance there songwriting. Sounds like some good stuff to me. Still lying under my desk and going nuts. Rod from G |

Hey Scott, Yes, I've heard them. I really like it quite a bit. Much like I really enjoyed those early, early Journey albums before Steve Perry came on board. They were such a different band from what they eventually became. I liked a lot of the music from that era...some great vibes back then! And yes, JR does in fact RULE! I miss hangin' with the boy. Simply awesome, & whats truly great is they open with Silver Tongue from the latest Bananas, setting the tone. Telling the rock world that they believe in the new stuff. Well, Miami/Ft.Lauderdale dodged the hurricane bullet, WHEW! Category 4 hurricane, been there, done that, don`t wanna do it again! The storm has slowed down, lost some strength, but it might regain the lost "muscle" soon, and cut across central Floriduh near Orlando. Hey everybody...just salivating and waiting for the TNA assault on Jaxx in Springfield, VA this fall. gREG...I just happened to stumble into the Latin Grammy's in time to catch LLB & Carlos (one of my main guitar idols...we both play PRS) and their sound crew should have been SHOT. You could barely hear the crispness of the Los Lonely Boys' guitarist...and he is great...so, in essence, you didn't miss much having the sound off. Major bummer, I've liked what I've heard off the CD a lot, though "Heaven" is a bit too...ummm..sugary for my delicate tastes. Some of the tones he gets elsewhere, though...like "Crazy Dream" are vintage, for sure. Well, it's late, I just thought I'd pop my two cents in...ciao Hammerheads and headettes! Carl P.S. Eric and Rick...let us know how you fared with Frances real soon, Ok? Hang in there! |

Hey Hammerheads, Just checking in after a couple of weeks of travel. Glad to hear all the PT family in FL are ok! Just got back Sun from visiting family in NY; on the way out there, all 3 Vanilla Fudgers were on the same flight. I got to talk to Tim Bogert, who I had known years ago when he was a teacher at the music school I went to. I was dying to talk to Carmine and ask him about the T&A project, but I didn't get a chance to! We had a great time playing for the troops in Germany & Bosnia! Nice to see some Kansas fans here too! I saw them recently in Anaheim, and then again in San Francisco when I was up there last month. They're always great! They have a cool new box set just released, with a DVD that has some of their old Don Kirschner's Rock Concert appearances on it. Very cool stuff! Cheers! Steve Z |

Hey Scott, Drop me an email at bharp@televar.com and we'll work out some details on that tape. Thanks so much! Randal, I must have missed a post somewhere! I was thinking you were coming to Pasco on the 25th for your class reunion. Instead, it was your 25th Class reunion! Sorry I botched that this weekend, Bro! Sounds like you had a good time. Myself, I've never been to any of my reunions. Hell, I graduated a year early just so I could get away from everyone and get on with college & life! Sounds like FLA got pretty darn lucky with that crazy mess over the weekend. And dammit if there's not another hurricane lurking off the coast! Simply amazing.... |

Big Eddie, how cool was that!! When I saw them at an out door event in 2001 I saw Robby Steinhardt standing by the side fence watching the opening act. Noone else was noticing him so I ran over and started talking like old friends. Great guy. Joked alot about his rental car and the fact it rained so hard when they flew in. I guess Steve was in a pissy mood cuz they were on next and it was only noon!! Love that band! The closest they are getting this year is Nevada......and that aint in the budget. I gotta get my PTB fix!! I think everyone has seen him this year but me! UGH! PTBRULES! g |

Besides Pat Travers, there is another band that I am very fond of , and that is Kansas! gREG, I know you are also a fan so you will appreciate the fact that they played at a casino on the Oregon coast for two nights. My girlfriend and I made the 70 mile trip from Portland, for the first show. When we checked into our room, which is adjacent to the casino, I saw Richard Williams(guitar)walking through the parking lot-well my girlfriend caught up with him, and then he waited for me(bad knee). He walked all the way back to my car in which I had the first three Kansas albums. He signed them, and we talked for about 15 minutes. He also told me to meet at a certain area about an hour before the show and he would have the other guys sign my albums. Sure enough, he was true to his word, so my albums are signed, and all the guys were so kind. And the show was great! Steve Walsh has the energy, emotion and vocals that still give ya goosebumps. The band is tight, so if you get a chance to see them, do it !! I see where P.T. is playing with Vanilla Fudge, at B.B. Kings place. You know, P.T. is as always:The best damn Rock act out there!!! Man, that damned storm just won`t go away! It has been raining and blowing here in Miami almost non stop for the past 2 days. A bunch of trees down, sunken boats, and a few power outages, but that`s pretty much it. I got a friend that lives up in Stuart, which is where the hurricane made land fall last night, that I haven`t been able to contact yet. Right now the central part of the state is getting the worst of it, but the storm is down to a category 1 in wind (95 mph) speed and rapidly falling. Still, it`s a huge system and it`s wet! There probably won`t be a PTB chat today cause of power outages now in central Floriduh, but you can try. Now there`s another hurricane, named Ivan, lurking about east of the carribean islands! It`s like God is bowling and is using Floriduh as a pin. S'later, JH |

Hey Ed.... "It ain't easy being green" --Kermit The Frog-- Have you seen the new bio book by Martin Popoff that covers Blue Oyster Cult's career (of evil)? I've read several reviews regarding the book and they all speak very highly of it. Great details into every album and song from their debut all the way up to "Curse Of The Hidden Mirror". hey Carl! good to hear from ya. Sorry about the cold, but they say the best cure for the pain of a chest cold is a couple of broken ribs. So laugh yer ass off! Anybody know if DP/TL played down here yet? I don't think so, but I haven't heard any concert announcements yet either. gREG, too bad you can't some down a week from Friday, the 24th. My "hack" band, STEHM, is playing our first club gig (as a group) at Etta's Place, the old Trojan Horse. Tom the guitarist has played out alot in The Big Idea and Tiburon Alley, among others, and Steve the drummer played out with Tomcat Courtney for years. Then there's me, with five club gigs under my belt filling in for Tiburon Alley's bass player at the last minute when he flaked a few times. PLUS doing two songs with 7th Fold, precursor to Bad Ass REK, and introducing PTB at Camp Heineken! Guess that also makes me a veteran of the stage, huh gREG? Strat? Words of wisdom here, please. By the way, I'm frontman at bass and lead vocals. Imagine that Steve Z, Ed, gREG, any chance of you guys making it? 9pm 'til close, no cover and we get 20% of the bar so we're inviting heavy drinkers first and teetotalers -- uh -- SECOND, yeah that's it. gREG, you can come too, but you gotta bring Lisa. I'm gonna try out my version of PT's "I kiss ALL the girls" routine! hahahahahah Just kidding, Lisa. No, REALLY. It was gREG's idea. He said YOU are the drinker now. Expect LZ, DP, STP, AIC and a little BFD, along with lots more and five six of our originals! It will be fun, and it is the first STEHm gig of many. Only took five years, as we had to change drummers at midstream. Van was just a beat off. Tim, are you reading this? Can you make it? . . . but I digress |

Purple Carl... Grandmaster Morse is still with Purple. He did a very soulful, Satriani/Beck-ish instrumental in tribute to the astronauts who died in the Columbia re-entry a year or so ago. Morse being a pilot himself, he was friends with a couple of those astronauts. Very moving solo... Perfect Strangers, Highway Star & Space Truckin' were worth the ticket price alone....although I had comp tickets, which made it even better! Very jealous of those of you that make it to the East coast TNA shows....I do expect reviews from all of you! LOL! And as always...PTB is KING! |

Stratmandu! Ahoy! Sounds like you had a rockin' weekend. I had a unique opportunity to see my (then-favorite band) Dream Theater open a large venue for Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Deep Purple featuring the ever-amazing Steve Morse on guitar, it was quite a show, despite the fact that TicketBastard had the wrong starting time printed on the tickets and I missed a third of the opening set. Just out of curiosity, who was handling the six-string duties this time out? Gillan was amazing, no way Coverdill could ever fill his shoes. The highlight of the evening, for me, however, was seeing a large portion of "Tarkus" being performed live before my very eyes...ahhhhhh.... Randal: I am still recovering from a bad chest cold and laughing is painful...damn you...I could barely breathe reading your post. Hope all is well in sunny San Diego with you and your beautiful wife...would love to take a trip out and jam in the garage with ya and down some Heinies! Hey Scott, The mail arrived Monday, so I hope to get a chance to check it out sometime this week. I have something headed your way soon. Was out of town all weekend, due to the Lizzy/Purple show. Seattle on Friday night (front row center between Sykes & Gorham!) with passes, and then Vancouver, B.C. on Saturday night. Great venue in Vancouver, by the way. Very much like the Paramount Theater in Seattle. I looked for Darren & Sandy in Vancouver, but didn't see them. Lizzy is always a dependable show...always great. First time I had ever seen Purple, and was completely amazed. Age has only made these guys even better. As I was watching the show, several things came to mind. This band was having a fun time on stage and it showed. That would have never happened with Blackmore still in the band. Always too much internal tension when he was around. Coverdale is half the singer Gillian is. For a guy in his late 50's, Ian is simply stunning...And finally, as much as I really love Tommy Bolin (his two solo albums are on my "desert island list"), it's easy to see how he didn't fit in with Purple. Younger bands of today could really learn a few lessons from these grizzled vets.... Inside info...how does a rock star relax after a show??? If you're Scott Gorham, you immediately head to the back of the bus and start playing Tiger Woods golf on your computer system. The guy is obsessed about it at the moment. Too funny! Party? Nah....he's been there and done that... Last thought...Why in the heck can't the PTB land a slot on a tour like this???? It frustrates me to no end! And as always...PTB is King! |

Blur's dream: I had a weird dream the other night. I was watching a Van Halen show with David Lee Roth (for some reason) on vocals. ======================== I don't think it's a weird dream at all. One time when I was thinking about PTB and playing some of their songs in my head, I thought to myself that they're like the early Van Halen, playing a lot of "good time, fun, party music." PTB and VH both have a lot of songs that are happy sounding, with carefree lyrics. Not bombastic with weighty hidden meanings or angry; as rock music often is. I'm comparing EARLY VH with EARLY PTB. Nothing after David Lee Roth left; and nothing after "School of Hard Knocks." |

Blue simply said, "Come one, come all....to the mountain of destiny. For it is there that we shall recieve our greatest gift. The gift of everlasting, meaningless, metaphors, that propell our state of minds into coma-type spasms. Thus bearing out a new leadership of humanity. A new way of connecting, on a plane no mere mortal man ever dared try.....yet we as PTB fans will face the challenge. We will rise like the great Phoenix that almost destroyed the world in X-Men 235, Vol. 6, and we will conquer all things salty. Here me now people, for I speak the truth." In a nutshell, thats what Blue meant. I coulda gone into more detail, but..............Enjoy those Rum drinks Blue!! We could all use a few!!! g |

Richard, Scroll down this page to September 3rd. The Snorkels posted the 3 U.S. dates for TNA prior to heading to Europe. Nothing in Atlanta, but you're a helluva lot closer to those shows than us on the West coast. |

Steve, ya'll will love the casino in Camp Verde! It's beautiful like Flagstaff! Randal, say this upon entering the stage, "I'm Randal Ehm, this is my band and we're gonna kick yer ass!" The rest of the guys won't mind. Can't make it so soon, have to be a Oct Diego trip. I'll try and send kissing Lisa anyway! If ya have a gig in Oct, have that case of Diet Pepsi ready. I'll see if I can't get the mosh pit started! g |

Hey Randall, hitting the big stage finally! We're leaving early in the am for AZ on the 25th, so a trip down to Diego isn't gonna be possible on the 24th, unfortunately. It's getting so busy, I hardy get to see many shows any more! Just missed the Satriani/DP/TL show here in LA, it was on the 4th. Also missed the Riverdogs & MSG/Uli Roth. BUT, I will be going to Dream Theater/Yes this Sunday! Carl, I saw that tour with DP/ELP too, and it was great! And as Rockpig said, all you who make it to the TNA show, we want reviews! Cheers, Steve Z |

Randal...words of wisdom for the stage? Always remember that no matter how it sounds on stage (good or bad)...it doesn't sound that way out front! Good to know if the stage monitor situation, or something similar is sucking, and deceiving if things sound great on the stage! As far as front of house sound....you're at the mercy of your sound guy! All your friends will tell you that your band sounded great...for an honest opinion, have somebody you trust outside of the band go around the bar and ask people in the crowd that don't know the band members what they thought. THERE'S your honest answer! HA! That stumbling drunkard that slobbers when he shouts "Yoush guys F__king RAWK, maaaann!" should also be taken with a grain of salt.... I promise, he'll definitely be at your show. He's at EVERY show! (And sometimes his girlfriend dances at an Algona bar!) Again...good luck! Let us know how it turned out! |

Yo Randal, The Purple/Satriani/Lizzy tour only had two more dates left after the Vancouver gig on Saturday. Sunday off, Monday in Calgary and Tuesday in Edmonton. Also, last Friday in Seattle was the end of the line for Satriani's band on the tour. They did not do the 3 final shows in Canada. So if you didn't catch 'em in your neck of the woods already...you missed out. Good luck with your gig! And as always...PTB is King! |

Randal-as they say, better late than never. As for myself? I retired after one gig as lead singer of "Stainless Steel". Nope, that's not a joke even though it may sound like it. I wanted to sing Pat Travers, Led Zep, etc. and the guy who owned all the equipment wanted to do Metallica, Cinderella, Kiss, etc. Not exactly my cup of tea. |
