Yo, Holland calling again.
Rod, you WILL see us tomorrow.
About the second show, this one was great too. First a hopeless openingact no one expected...we want PTB!!! Get the .... of the stage
Anyway the place (café) was totally sold out, and heated by all the people, so the fan was almost flying around, on his strongest 'windposition'.
Then they came up and, as usual, kicked our ass again!
Everybody enjoyed it, there were a lot of people who had never heard of PT before, and they were very impressed. So new fans has born!
It was the same setlist, and it rocks...lovely
It became hotter and hotter, they were sweating a complete swimmingpool together. Real blues and rock in a packed steamy bluescafé, thats what we like!
After the show PT sold a lot of his signed pictures, and many fans wanted to be on a picture with him. He did it all, everything was relaxed.
We also brought a lot of friends to this show, so we all had a really great time.
The owner of the café was walking around very proudly, with the succes of this show with PTB, smiling from ear to ear.
Today they could do whatever they wanted, with a day off. And tomorrow? We'll see
I guess, kick ass! LOL

Greg, didn't see you're arrival yet, where are you??!

greetingzz from The Dutch Hammerheads!

gREG's circling at 35,000 feet waiting for a break in the clouds. What he doesn't know is that over Amsterdam, there never IS a break in the clouds! Someone send him a smoke signal from below, or send up a really quick carrier pigeon with a note saying "GET DOWN! GET DOWN!" To which, gREG would break into the Watusi(sp?)and would miss the point (and the shows) altogether. MY POINT?? gREG, stay up in the clouds 'til you get back to the States, 'cause you don't know where you might land.

Okay, there is one alternative, Andries -- call the Eurocops and tell them an American Sasquatch stole your magic boat! With any luck, they'll shoot him down right over the stage!! hahahaha

Hey Snorkels...looks like good news for you. I just saw a post on the Joe Bonamassa board that he's been booked for a November 19th slot at something called "Rockin' the Blues 2004" at a place called "Bluesnight Duiven" in Holland somewhere. Don't know anything else but keep your eyes open. The DVD doesn't even scratch the surface of his live performance. I strongly recommend making it to the show. You'll also find him and his backing band to be ALMOST as friendly as Rick and Eric (a tough thing to do, no doubt) and very talented also. Let me know if you go, I am sure that European audiences will love him for sure!

With that said, I'm going back to trying to learn "The Pain" for the 50 millionth time. ARGH!

Peace Hammerheads!

Here we are again!

Third show, still can't get enough!
When we came there tonight, Pat showed us the way backstage, he was just about leaving. So we went, and who was there....Rodney! It was nice meeting you, man. Rick and Eric were also sitting there, everything cool, especially the bandrehearsel room next to their room...haha, there was a band rehearsing with some doom metal and a male or female??? singer, so a lot of imitations followed...LOL. Eric and Rick have many voices
Pat came back, we made some fun and then we all got ready for the gig. My brother also came to the show (never had seen PTB before) and some friends came out, so that was cool.
And, as expected...a kick ass show followed! The sound was very clear and good, Eric drummed like an animal (muppets ), Rick had fun and played very well and PT rocked, kicking on his own sound!
We can say after this three shows, the band has grown and play's very tight, Rick and Eric are more sure of themselves and that's clear to see when they are on stage. It's gettin' betta all the time!
Then after the show they couldn't stay too long, cause they have to get up very early to get ready for England.
But we did get a cymbel from Eric, cause he broke it during the gig, as we said, animal LOL.
It was again a great evening, can't wait for monday, then the next gig is waiting for the dutchies.
So Gill, it's up to you now...
Oh, and they do fly from London to Glasgow, the roadies drive the bus with their stuff, so thats good.

About Bonamassa, thanks for warning, very kind of you, but we knew , cause we know the men (Bart and Richard) who organizes this. We were already invited for this show, so we will be there! No doubt. Richard will also come to the PTB show next monday, hoping he will book PTB also for his festival next year, maybe? We'll see.

oké, time to catch some sleep now...

PT gigs in London are always special..he still has a lot of friends from the years he lived here. So tonight should be great.

'And the District Line, just doesn't seem..'

Forgot to mention something cool that happened in Madrid. Some guy in the audience shouted for Amgwanna Kick Booty and Pat played a little piece of it.

Gill have a good time on the Renfrew Ferry in Glasgow.
I had a good night last night. He played my fave track from Half Way to somewhere. A wee bit of Life in London, which was indeed bittersweet. No tracks fro Black Pearl ;-(, perhaps I should have shouted amgonnakickbooty ??!!, but my voice had went by that time. A good crowd as well of about 200/250.
I bribed the promoter to get me back stage to get a couple of cd's signed. Very nerve racking to me ones musical mentor.
Got out of the Underworld and got drenched by the London rain but I did not care. Gig 10/10, Crowd 9/10, Beer @ £3.10 a pint 0/10. Meeting PT, and his band awesome!

hey, just got back from the book store and the "Pat Travers Book of Snortin' Whiskey Diet" is on the shelves. $19.99. Supposedly, playing the same set-list year after year can take the pounds right off. I heard he had a DRAMATIC weight loss when he played "Heat in the Street", but his left leg just fell off his body.......so they had to remove that song and put back "Just Enough Money". g

Probably the same set list the Snorkels saw last time he was over there. I know it's the same he had in Buffalo two years ago....and the year before that (excepting "inside looking out" of course).

I just don't understand the lack of effort to bring some new material to the stage. Very disappointing as a fan.

Hey Hooked (and others),

Your comment, as well as gREG's brings up this question...

Just curious what all you Hammerheads & Hummerheads would like the setlist to look like if Pat said "What do you wanna hear?" (Like that's ever gonna happen, but we can dream, right?).

I'd love to see your setlists!

And as always...PTB is King!

Count me in as tired of the same setlist. I have to believe it's due in large part to all of the guys having so many different projects going on that it probably limits rehearsal time. I personally would like to see more Pat Travers songs instead of covers. Who cares what they are? You can't go wrong.

Hey Hooked,

I certainly didn't take offense to it. In fact, I'm in that same long line that would like to see some changes to the setlist! I'd love to hear more stuff from "Putting It Straight", "Radio Active" & "Hot Shot"...
But as you already mentioned, I agree that most likely it's a logistical thing with alloted time to practice. That and the likely fact that Pat probably has no desires to re-play some of those older songs.

I can't disagree more.

PT is presenting a show. In whatever format he may or can choose for his audience.

PT/Wishbox setlist @ Fairfield, CA from a cdr I recently received -

Hiway 61
Voodoo Chile
Hooked On Music
Life In London
Getting Bette' (complete)
Looking In, Looking Out (I think this is what it's named)
R+R Suzie (complete)
Making Magic (complete)
Snortin' Whiskey
Boom Boom
Born Under a Bad Sign
Statesboro Blues (complete)

Now there's a setlist! A far cry from what I've heard with the ptB. At least a new setlist to me. I've heard the same old ptB setlist here in the midwest for six years now. And that goes back to Dave Larue and Shawn 'the Cannon' Shannon.

My point is this - and I bet you're glad I finally got to it :) - Rehersal or PT's desire to play tunes may not have anything to do with the show you witness. Look at the setlist above.

Anyone know rehersal time for PT w/Wishbox? Me thinks it isn't much.

And as long as I'm on my soapbox, whatever happened to to the new PT (Band?) cd, due in June, I think, this year?

Just wondering, enjoy PT ya'all,

T

the "T-N-A" project. That didn't come out in the states did it? I was wondering about that the other day. When I saw Pat last year in Austin at one TXRich's shows Pat did a way different set-list too. I figured he'd wanna eventually 'strech his musical legs' a bit w/ Eric/Rick. It seems such talent DESERVES a different setlist everyonce in awhile!! It's getting silly.....why why why why!!!!!! Not for me to question, just support.........Hhhhmmmmmmmm.

TC,
Too bad you can't make it to the Robin tonight.

We made a late decision to hit the Rayners Lane gig last night, and really glad we did. We were a little disappointed in the venue (compared to what might have been at the excellant Sheffield Boardwalk), but despite the all seated affair both PTB and crowd of around 100 were in great form. Hats off to the Rayners Lane venue.

Looking forward to the Robin tonight, and then only 10 days till the mighty BOC hit town.

PT/Wishbox setlist @ Fairfield, CA. Now there's a setlist! A far cry from what I've heard with the ptB. At least a new setlist to me.

I think Pat's been slightly changing the setlist the last couple of years regardless of who's playing with him...THE PAT TRAVERS BAND or hired support players like Wishbox. I've seen the Wishbox version numerous times & the setlist has not changed too much. Lately, Wishbox is pretty much all we get here on the west coast. I'll be the first to admit it was nice to hear R&R Susie, Statesboro Blues & Makin' Magic. However, you are forgeting the songs that were left off the setlist.

just got back from the wolverhampton gig. great performance from the boys, but sadly let down by the soundcrew, they just have to try to up the volume to a point where (a) it hurts and (b) the system cant cope with the amount of bass they try and force through it. the quality of the vocals and the finer points are just all lost when it is masked by noise.
Oh well, next time perhaps...

Hi EnglishAl!
Good to hear the boys were on form!!! Shame about the sound. I know how that can take the edge off a gig or even ruin it.

Must admit it's pretty rare nowadays that gigs're too loud for me as I don't think me hearings so good anymore!

Loudest gig I ever heard was Little Steven with Pat Thrall on guitar at Leeds University - my ears rang for about 3 daze & I was seriously thinking they mightn not stop!

Hi folks
New poster here from the UK.

I have just had the pleasure of seeing PTB in Camden and at The Rayners Hotel. They really kicked our asses. It was fantastic to see such a legend as Pat Travers at such small and intimate venues. I missed earlier tours in the UK, the last time I saw PTB was in 1980 at The Reading Rock Festival, they were great.

Rick and Eric, you guys are awesome, a great compliment to PT.

I was a bit disappointed that there was no merchandise, ho hum I shall have to make my own t-shirt.

Me and my mates are still amazed that we got to see such a top rock act at such venues. The Rayners was probably the coolest gig we've been to.

Thanks Eric for allowing us to meet Pat he has been a hero of mine for 20 odd years.

Keep Rocking and come back soon.

Bill....first of all hello! I am literally 5 minutes from walking off stage. A computer in the green room? What's the world coming to? Any way the question at hand is kinda frustrating to Rick and as well. Ya know every time we are all alone together jamming it always turns to writing a tune rather than learning an old one. That I am afraid is pretty much Pat's discretion. However Pat does change up the set from time to time on our request. So I make no excuses....as a matter of fact I agree whole heartedly ....you can imagine how we feel. We have talked of adding It Makes No Difference, and In The End, to the set for the last year. I PROMISE I will push for a new set list. At least a few new additions. I saw the Wishbox set list and it is about 6 cover tunes and 5 P.T. tunes. It is easier to use a pick up band when you have some familiar covers in the set so I see why Pat does that. Wishbox does just fine I am sure. I have read the e-mails from you guys on the West Coast and we can't wait to get back over there either. Hang in there....the ball is definitely rollin'again! I miss you guys.....See ya soon! ERIC

Hi all,
Dont get to post much (work, family, blah, blah) but hving been to the 'Robin' gig on Sunday seemed the best excuse. I'm with EnlishAl on the sound quality and they've done that before at that venue. Dont any of Pat's sound guys go out into the crowd and listen? They guys all played as well as i've ever seen but the vocals were spoiled by overdriven PA. Pat seemed to be singing better than when I last saw him a couple of years ago (something to do with the diet??).
Good to hear 'Crash n' Burn' live again - the last time was on the album tour (Birmingham Odeon 1980) when we were all gobsmacked to see him surrounded by keyboards.

Anyways brill gig - as usual, over too quickly, cant wait 'till the next tour.

Any other UK guys know how we can get PTB on the Jooles Holland show? I think he'd go down great and it would be good to see him on UK TV - (Ive mailed the show post board).

Good luck to everyone still to see the guys this tour - I wish I had Gill's job!

(In my best Grover from Sesame Street imitation voice) Helllllllloooooooooo Everyyyyyybody!

Glad to hear that Pat, Rick and Eric are kickin' ass and taking names overseas, I wouldn't expect any less.

Regarding the set list, for those of you who aren't musicians, it's not that easy to put together a song to perform it at the amazing level of tightness that these guys do it without putting in a fair amount of homework, hard to do when you're out gigging most nights. However, I can understand that the fans (and the band, for that matter) might enjoy a change of pace. I was psyched to hear "I Look Better From a Distance" at my most recent show, and Eric...it's true (Hahaha!)

Like Piglet, I too, would love to hear some more stuff from Putting it Straight, the record (yes, I meant RECORD) that made me the PT fan I am today. Personally, I'd love to see "Speakeasy" or "It Ain't What It Seems". Or maybe hijack Edgar Winter to play the sax for a few shows and do "Off Beat Ride". However, every time I see the PTB, I am amazed by their performances and never disappointed even in seeing the same set list over and over again, because they always "play it like they feel it" and therefore it is never boring!

I am jonesing as it will be a while before the boyz will swing into my neck of the woods, but I'm glad everyone else is enjoying a rockin' summer!

Well, off to bed and back to work tomorrow.

Keep on rockin!

Carl

P.S. Eric, Rick, Ice Queen and I miss you guys! Next time you're in town we have to PARTY!

Wow, it's all one big party, I can tell.
Mondayevening was great, Michael Katon was the openingsact, that was good too!
Inpite of long travelling and less sleep, the performance of the PTB was great again.
And then the next day! Off to Belgium.
We had tropical tempertures here, just like Florida, difference...no airco over here. Ohoh, hard travelling for the guy's.
And then in the venue, SO HOT, the boy's would almost pass out. But, as you know the PTB, giving it all again, awesome sound, good crowd!
Then, after the song Inside Looking Out (real rocking song!!) the roadie plugged everything out, as usual. But then PTB came back! One more. wohoo! Plugging everything in again, and Statesboro Blues came! Freaking great!
Thanx PTB!!

Within two hours, off to the next and last show.

Hi fellow PT'ers!

This may seem like a long Post, but bear with me. I don't usually bother with surfing the Net-chat on any subject, but this is an exception.

Was at the world famous (ahem)Renfrew Ferry in Glasgow on Friday to see PT playing, and we had a local support 'Defender' opening (great little Rory Gallagher tribute band).
My good friend John came with me although he's no Rock R&B fan, and enjoyed it too.

Anyway, you guys will probably know the current PT set without me repeating it here, but a small, energetic crowd certainly enjoyed themselves - Patrick Henry can still play his Gibson, that's for sure.
Highlight of the night for me though was after the show when I talked to Phil (Defender guitarist) & his girlfriend, and asked about slipping backstage....
15 minutes later I drag John down too, and we're having a nice relaxed chinwag with Mr.Travers for half an hour or so.
Anyway, VERY long story short, I got to chew the fat with him about his career, family, the song 'Dedication' (those who know me well know that, for me, it's not just PT's greatest moment, but my favourite ever piece of music), and...Todd Rundgren.
Both being Todd-ites, Pat and I banged on at length about Mr. Rundgren and we ended up talking about the current Todd tour and other stuff. The most surreal moment of this whole episode when yours truly & Pat Travers are singing a snippet of Todd's 'Dream goes on Forever' in front of three other very confused listeners (I swear to whatever God you still find holy, I thought there was going to be a John-shaped hole in the side of the Ferry at that moment).
Also turns out that last year Pat had the chance to do a larger show/set with keyboard player and saxophonist - and pulled 'Dedication' into the set for the first time. He was happy with the performance and it was recorded - he reckons it probably will be released at some point, or maybe as extra track or extra disk with a forthcoming release. Of course you guys probably knew this already!
So, 28 years from initially hearing PT on his debut album, and 25 years from first seeing him, I finally got to thank him for still popping over to our shores - and thank him for Dedication.
Genuinely nice man with absolutely no rock star ego who would have talked all night - but time was against everyone.
Oh, and for those in the vicinity (if any!)- Defender will be back at the Ferry in August and if you get the chance to check 'em out, do so!
And Todd Rundgren is back in our fair country in July - not a bad couple of months!

my best to you all!

Nice to hear all the PT stories from this UK current tour and past tours. My first PT gig was also on the 1980 tour at Sheffield City Hall. I would have been 13 years old, and I remember being off school with some fake illness, but still managed to convince my parents to let me go to the gig! How Rock'n'Roll is that?

Anyway, with reference to Crash & Burn in the new set (which sounded just great), at that gig in 1980 and during PT on keyboards during Crash & Burn, either the keyboard stand collapsed or someone in the crowd pulled the thing over, and it fell into the crowd. As far as I recall the roadies hauled it back on stage for the song to continue.

With reference to the sound at the Robin, yes it was poor, especially compared to the Rayners gig the previous night.

Thanks for the tour guys, hope to see you again soon.

Some info I dug up today on the Internet...

Legendary rock drummer Carmine Appice (OZZY OSBOURNE, VANILLA FUDGE, BLUE MURDER) has announced the completion of his collaboration with guitarist Pat Travers, to be titled "TNA". The disc will initially be released on the German-based label SPV. According to Appice, who kicked off a month-and-half European tour with VANILLA FUDGE March 10, "the recording just flowed and we essentially wrote the album in the studio. We went in thinking maybe one track or two, but it just kind of wrote itself. It's some of the best music I've ever wrote and recorded. My thinking is that our audience will just eat this up. I've admired Pat for years and the collaboration was well worth the wait."

Hey everyone! Whaazzzup out there in PTland? Just my 2 cents...despite the fact that Rich and Nancy's stuff is "da bomb" (by the way guys, the Recher Theater show is awesome!), I had a similar problem with "Etched in Stone" in my rather new Sony DVD player, I haven't gotten around to returning it yet, but I still want to try a few other DVD players before I do. Needless to say, Rich stands by the products he sells and has always been a gentlemen (despite what others may disingenously suggest to the contrary) and I am sure you all can come to a reasonable solution.

Well, try to stay cool, guys. It's a bit warm here in Maryland...arrrrgh!

Greetings one & all, long time no post. Anyone know who's playing with Pat at the Milwaukee show ??? Saw Rush this past Monday. Awesome show.
They spent too much time on post "Grace Under Pressure" music. Probably a 60/40 split between newer and old. First time I've seen a show completly straight in years. Sobriety is a trip !!!

Gill, you're probably right - I saw so many major bands there (Sabbath, Lizzy, Van Halen, AC/DC, etc...) between '77 and '82 it's all a blurr now! - It's an age thing... Pat always pulled just as big a crowd though. It's amazing to think how many of us were all there at the same gigs 20 odd years ago!

Thanks for the response. I'll try the "etched in stone" dvd at best buy. If it still doesn't work I'll have to send it back. I'm going to see Pat in Neilsville WI. next Saturday the 19th. It said something about a "Guitar Slingers Ball" featuring Pat, Danny Johnson, and Greg Koch. Are they all going to be on stage together or all have seperate bands? Was Danny Johnson in a band called AXIS? The album came out around 1978. I think it was called circus world.

Greg watch out for the secret weapons. Rick has the Dutch Hammerheads! I mean they are ruthless. They go to every PTB event in Holland and kick ass every time. Believe me they can. I've seen em.

Well after trying to create a drink in honor of the dutch hammerheads, i will give up. It was supposed to be a sort of orange colored smokeable pot of cocktail. I got confused on wich straw to drink from and wich to inhale from. So i guess i'll stick to the classic "Snorti'n whiskey...".

Will somebody get me out a here! And a voice said, Go to Hannover to the show son! Well repeat first two lines on top.

The Snorkels
Posted on Sunday, June 13, 2004 - 12:22 pm:

Well all, we can say PTB is back in the USA again.
Our adventure Operation Griswald is over, but it was very good!
No gig dissapointed us (of course, we all say...), all 6 gigs we've seen they gave the very best. We can hear and see them on and on and on, every gig made us excited to see them again!
At the last gig, it was very hard to say goodbye, but ya have to,
PT didn't break a string during the shows we've seen, except the last gig at the last song in the last notes of Statesboro Blues, what a timing!
We know that the americans never have the chance to see so many gigs in two weeks, like Bette said, we get even more tired than the PTB does. But hey, don't feel sorry for us, LOL.
Shame we didn't see gREGZILLA and RANDALMIZER land in our country. Where are you flying now? Yes, Rodney is right, PTB has us as weapon, be glad you didn't get through the clouds, we would have kicked your ass till it had seven colours, haha. We are protective peoples...BOOM BOOM, OUT GOES YOU'RE LIGHT!!
Anyway, Pat, Rick, Eric, we wanna say; BIG THANX for everything! We had a great time, you've been very nice to us and our friends we brought to the gigs, even a brother of mine(Wilma) got to see PTB for the first time and it was a great succes for all of them!
Hopefully we'll see you back again within a year?!
Talking about the TnA tour (see Appice site), there is no Holland planned in there yet. Just wait, hope and see....
Oh, Ed, thanx for posting the pics (the last one was taken in Café The Noot, by the way). These are just a few, there will be more coming up!

Everybody over there, enjoy the upcoming PTB gigs, wherever you are. Alway's a blast!

Thank You PTB!!! What foot stompin' ass kickin' way to close the tour! Boy Hannover was one the best i have witnessed. The crowd would have had them out for a third encore if time would have allowed. Pretty good turnout considering the gig was not posted, but the club did its best. Even the European Soccer Championship didn't keep people from coming out. Most conversations i heard, where like even better than last time, lost weight, hair shorter, didn't that guitar burn last time,.... Just to show that Hannover honors good music.

Setlist:
1-Hooked on Music
2-Life in London
3-Just enough Money
4-Crash and Burn
5-The Pain
6-Elijah
7-Stevie
8-Statesboro Blues
9-Bass solo Rick
10-Whipping Post
11-Snortin' Whiskey
12-Drumsolo Eric (incl. drumming on Marc's hardhat who was desperatly trying to hold the symbol stands from flying around)
13-Boom Boom
14-Gitarsolo+Born under a Bad Sign
15-Inside Looking Out

By now PTB should be back in the USA. Thanks for the good time and hope to see you soon again.

PT, Rick, Eric and crew...

Thanks for coming over to Europe and, of course, Scotland - it had been waaaaay too long since PT was rockin' in our venues (last time I saw him in my own 'territory' had been Edinburgh during the '..hard knocks' period. Jeez...)

Hope you had a safe trip home, and my best regards to all, especially the dedicated gang of PT fans who got to a fair old few of the Europe gigs - nice to read your posts and realise there's still a passion for Pat and the boys over here.

It was cool to read all the fantastic reviews (Thank you Andries, Wilma and others) of the "Operation Griswold European Invasion Tour" and it's great to see that the PTB is still converting new fans and re-establishing old confirmations from fans from "back in the day". As I said last week..."Was there ever any doubt?". We now know THAT answer! Great job guys! Looking forward to the upcoming Oregon & Washington gigs...see ya there!

On another note, I need help from the PT Family here at the post board. I'm looking for a 1st or 2nd generation copy video of UFO at the Rockpalast. I had one located about a year ago, and that deal apparently fell through, so I'm on the hunt again... Can anyone help a poor soul?

All this talk of UFO... and guess what?

In the land of one concert every other month (in a good year...) - referring to Korea, of course - Michael Schenker is doing two shows next month. I'll just be getting back from vacation in the States and I'll still be on leave, so my unit can't stop me from going!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!

The word is that his recent shows in California were rockin' and Michael's guitar playing is in top form. Hopefully that lasts until 17 July.

Oh! I just called the venue and tickets will be either 10,000 or 20,000 won - at 1,160 won to the greenback - that's less than $9 for a cheap ticket and only $17 for the expensive one.

Randy
