Blur, I've heard Zoso is pretty darn good. Definitely let me know what you think of them! Randy, pay the 17 bucks for a good seat! Michael's definitely worth seeing up close! I missed his CA shows, unfortunately; even played at one of the same venues just a couple of days after he did. I always love watching him play! Cheers, Steve Z |

Hey Nitro, As far as the PT Band, it's Eric & Rick. Dunno about any opening band... See ya there! Funny story on that bed you have up for auction. Zepfanus is right, the new UFO is very good! I would never have imagined Vinnie Moore handling guitar chores, but he does an admirable job. It ain't Schenker, but I'm certain that Vinnie is much more reliable for their career at this point! Hey Steve & Randy, I had read somewhere on the Internet that Schenker was very sick recently (as recent as 3 weeks ago) so the news of his upcoming gigs in Korea is good news... And as always PTB is King! |

The thing about Michael being sick... I read from what seemed to be a reliable source (is there really such thing as a reliable source on the internet??) that it was all much ado about nothing. Michael always seems to have these odd little stories and circumstances chasing him around... I saw him in Palo Alto in '99 from the front row and he rawked the joint. The first time was front row at Wings Stadium in Sep '78 when UFO warmed up for BOC. THAT was a rock concert!! I'll probably go to both shows here in Korea. I want to film them, so I might have to go with the cheap seats, unless filming is OK at the venue. I doubt that Michael really knows what he's getting into here. I just read the only website covering this event - all written in Korean ~~ thus my thinking that Michael doesn't know the full story. This event is a "battle of the bands" for lack of a better description. He's supposed to perform on 16 and 17 July. The 16th is listed as the "semi-finals" and the 17th is listed as the "super-concert." So there are going to be all these wannabe bands playing all day, and then Michael is supposed to take the stage and rock the place. It's outdoors, and mid-July is monsoon season here... so we'll just have to see. Since it's mostly amateur-ish bands, I'm thinking the video cam won't look out of place. Hopefully I can get some really up close and personal fretboard shots of Michael's playing. I'll have my son working the DAT recorder from close to the soundboard to capture the audio. Randy |

When you're in the military assigned overseas - the military owns you and controls your life. For example - last weekend the commanding general declared the 1:00am curfew would be 9:00pm instead. If you're caught out after curfew - you'll really regret it. It'll cost you money and possibly some rank, so you have to follow the orders. But... if you're on leave, you've got a lot more latitude in these situations. And I'll be on leave when Michael is here! Randy PS: Are we talking about the same kind of unit? Is a "unit comparison" in order? |

Greetings everyone, just returned from Shank Hall. Milwaukee just had it's ass kicked. The set list is as follows: 1 - HWY 61 2 - Voodoo Chile 3 - Hooked On Music 4 - Life In London 5 - The Pain 6 - Crash and Burn 7 - Snortin Whiskey 8 - Boom Boom 9 - Guitar solo 10 - Born Under A Bad Sign 11 - Statesboro Blues Local boy Greg Koch (pronounced like scotch) joined in on Statesboro Blues The "rent a band" was not too bad. They knew the songs fairly well and honestly had fun jammin with P.T. (Who wouldn't ???) I didn't expect them to play as well as they did. Still, they're no substitute for Eric & Rick. Notable quotes from Pat, "I talk to my footboard. But does it listen ???" Pat made a few comments about his guitar not staying tuned and doing a little "country pickin". He seemed to be in a good mood. Nothing like being right in front of P.T. watching his fingers dance up and down the fret board. As always, Pat came out after the show and signed everything in sight. He commented about the Italian white suit he wore on the cover of "Hotshot". He only wore it the one time and still has it in his closet. He said it fits him better now then it did when the photo was taken. I swear I must have given him writers cramp as I had almost 20 items for him to sign. He even signed and gave me the set list. As always, a very gracious host. I was a little disappionted at the size of the crowd though. There couldn't have been more the 75 people. Oh well, it was kinda like having your own private show. Sorry, no pictures. The venue wouldn't allow any to be taken. As my liscense plates say PTROXX. |

Hey 'Specks' >>I was a little disappointed at the size of the crowd though. There couldn't have been more the 75 people.<< Well, it was similar at the Glasgow gig recently (maybe tipped 100) but you're right - a 'private' show, you get time to talk to the guys after, and he's one of the few artists that genuinely gives 100% in front of 50, 500, or 5000. And you got an opening of Highway 61/ Voodoo Chile? You swine, Sir... Ross |

Went to see UFO a while back up in Hollywierd. I walk up to meet my friends already waitng in line when I hear "Hey that's my money! Your ripping me off!" Odd that it would be exclaimed in a German accent I thought.... I look over and Michael is running across the street towards some dude selling UFO T-shirts. Michael gets in the dudes face, cocks back his fist like he's gonna sock the guy when all of as sudden this dude DECKS Schenker! Right in the middle of the street! Everyone just stands there looking pretty dumbfounded. Michael rolls around for a second then picks himself up and starts yelling "That's it this show is cancelled!" and walks away. Lucky for him the show wasn't cancelled. Otherwise he might have gotten decked more than one that evening. Rock stars.... what-a-ya-gonna-do? Can't live with them can't live without them. But apparently you can beat the hell out of them. |

Lisa swears he was heavily medicated. I thought it sucked cuz there was NO energy and it was in an amphitheatre and there was only about 2/3 hundred peeps there. The promoter f'd up big time!! There were almost more venders than fans. One of those shows that leaves ya saying "WHY!" g |

US 26 W. Turn left onto Fishhawk Falls Highway 103. Turn right onto OR-202 Nehalem Highway. Turn right onto Neverstill Road (portions unpaved). Pulled it up on Map Quest for "Birkenfeld OR." On a search for Flying W Ranch, I found an ad for "Run 21, an Adults-Only Motorcycle Club" who's putting on the show. PTB plays from 7-9 and Molly Hatchet comes on after that. I imagine a wild time! Brian Howe plays there the night before Pat and the boys. Strat, you gonna try that or just do Algona? There's a hotel in Mist that I'm gonna check into in case I go to the Oregon show. |

Ed!!! What a crazy story!!! But totally believeable!!! Korea is the land of high quality counterfeits - I wonder what'll happen if Michael sees someone wearing or selling unauthorized merchandise here? Very few people would understand him if he spoke to them in English... Maybe I should offer Michael my translating skills in exchange for permission to film! Randy |

Only kidding.... Keep up the good work! Steve - Kick booty up in Sacramento! TooCool that you were at that UFO show. TooBad for Michael.... I was amazed how well he played after being splayed all over Lexington. I thought the show was gonna suck after that altercation. But after all was said and done it seems that I went to a fight and a concert broke out! Blur - You know what I would have payed to see? Peter Grant selling those UFO T-shirts

Hey Bette, I think The Randalmizer was referring to the Saturday gig the night before in Oregon. Algona, Sunday's gig, is a suburb of Auburn. That being said...the gig in Oregon does seem like a keg party out in the woods, much like what we used to do in high school! I would've peed my pants had I shown up for a keg party back in high school and the PTB was playing! LOL! That would have been around "Putting It Straight". How cool would THAT have been?!?!? |

Happy Father's Day, everyone! Third anniversary of Camp Heinie was yesterday (kind of -- my b-day but the '01 show was a few weeks later thanks to Don Bernard). Seems like only about 900 days ago! Howdy to all who showed up and to those who were there in spirit -- gREG was the only one who did both! hahhaha Yeah, Bette, the unpaved road is on the way to Porky's. Sounds like a bike rally, and the "adults-only motorcycle club" tag suggests that the show may be too hot for women to bear wearing their shirts! How tragic! Anybody else want to join me with squirt guns full of ice water and a camera, to save the day and capture it for posterity? Or for posteriority? I wonder how Pat and eRick will keep their composure with all the headlights pointed at them. Yeah, Bette, you'll be safer in WA but like Stratmandu said -- the PTB family will protect you!!! |

just like any good 60-year old, I spent the day after Father's Day in ER. I think I broke my elbow when I busted my forehead open on my 41st birthday -- while laying low since the PTB 40th gig was such a monster party! I smacked the elbow on something in the office yesterday and it ballooned up like gREG's stumpfeet on a drinking binge! I mean, Goodyear Blimp! Thought it was dislocated so I went to a meeting with a new client anyway, as I need the work. They are the Muslim American Society! no comment. At ER, the wait was so long I came back to the office for two beers and a small brush fire, then came back to find that they had called me twice and I was back at he bottom of the list. I waited this time, and they took me in pretty quick but it still took forever. They thought it was bursitis until they looked at the xray and there was a good old bone chip. Good thing it was my left hand -- not for the reason that gREG uses, but because I'm right handed! Anyway, I had been pulled over earlier with a broken tail light so it was just a bummer day. The scrip for vicodin seems to have melted the downside, so I'm relatively okay now. Damned birthdays! Gettin Bette, it was on the 19th. gREG, I'll bet yer yahoo profile still says yer 40, true? |

June is almost gone and no word on the Travers/Appice album. Is it a prerequisite for a Pat Travers fan to expect bad things when it comes to a new album being released? |

German.... Dutch... Spanish(?)... A Mi Hacienda es Zepagain's Hacienda. Got my monthly dose of Zepagain last night at A Mi Hacienda in Pico Rivera. Totally Zeptastic show. Not to mention.... I bet that was the first time "Stairway" was ever played while wearing a Sombrero! Ole! ZosoZukowsky's been kinda AWOL from here lately... if I had to guess why I'd say - if it's not their grueling schedule then it's because he's been practicing. Last night's rather large East LA, mostly Hispanic, Wednesday evening audience were treated to some very impressive guitar work, excellent tone and an energetic performance. The kind of guitaristic fireworks that only comes from extreme hard work and complete and total dedication. I've seen so many Zepagain shows over the past two years or so that it would be hard to pick out my favorite show. But last night was a stand out performance. I've never heard a tribute band sound so freakin' good. So many tribute bands try to sound like the band they're paying homage to and for the most part they do but Zepagain takes it a step or two beyond that and IMO could do justice filling in for Zeppelin any day of the week. That's a bold statement I know.... But I stand by it. No wonder Jimmy was impressed. ZEPAGAIN ROCKS! |

Ed, I agree! Lisa and I are seeing them Friday night and I will be in Flagstaff to see them Sat. night too. I will be on a 14 mile hike earlier in the day......so we will see if I can muster the energy to take a dump, much less go party at another Zepagain show. haha! But they really are the real deal! And the last 2 times I'v seen them seem better than ever! Can someone hook up a cross-country Zepagain/Travers tour!!!!! SWEET! g |

I read a pretty long interview of Rickey Medlocke recently. Of course, he hit on the Blackfoot reunion subject. Basically, he says if he'd ever do the reunion, it would have to be done right, i.e., in support of a new album - and not just some nostalgia tour thing. He'd have to leave Skynyrd to do it, and he just doesn't think it's worth it. Skynyrd is a good gig and he's happy to be in that band. He makes a pretty convincing argument in the interview. BUT - it sure would be nice to see the original Blackfoot one more time. I saw them from the front row back in June 1979 when they warmed up for the Allman Bros. Band. Randy |

I saw the original Blackfoot twice in arena's and 3 more times when it was just Medlocke and hired hands (Blackfoot featuring Ricky Medlocke) and I had his Blackfoot release w/ just Medlocke in the band(I think he might have had one other). He's SUCH a huge presence, this new guy must be billy-bad-ass to attempt to fill those shoes!! Randal, I think I'd chit myself if a doctor ever said "Ya just broke yer sac." Randy, While there is no doubt that Skynyrd is a dream gig come true.... The original Blackoot could blow the doors off of the present day Skynyrd "Anytime Anyplace Anywhere". Hell they could probably crush Skynyrd MKII or MKIII without even trying. My of course. Ricky's one of my rock and roll heros. I place him up there with Buck and Pat. But I have to wonder how he has consistantly choosen one child over the other? Oh well that's life I guess. I am happy for Greg T, Charlie and Jackson though... extremely happy! |

I have several old Blackfoot albums! Medlocke reminds me so much of the old Y&T frontman/axe slinger! His name escapes me in my Budweiser and Camel induced fog! Randal! Bill... there's nothing like a bunch of ol buds getting together and having a great time playing some tunes. I envy your gumption to do just that. I've been secretly wanting to do that too for many a year but haven't quite been able to light that spark. Although I do seem to remember one particular evening on the strand in Capistrano where I got to play my classical arraingment of "Norweigan Wood" for Rick and Eric. Believe it or not that was the highlight of my musical career! BTW - What did you use to record with? Keep up the good work and keep us posted with updates. |

Ed thanks for listening and for the kind words. It really has been a blast. I jammed with these guys 20 years ago (played guitar with them then) so the reunion has really been a dream come true. We recorded live using an old cassette tape deck, either TEAC or Technics (can't recall which right now) using a mics suspended in the room. Transfer to computer then burned to CD. We do a little bit of tweaking to clean up the sound, but not too much. You can hear the difference in the sound in the more recent recordings as we refined the placement. We record all our practices (as long as someone remembers to take it off pause!). I have quite a few more songs, but limited disk space on Verizon (without spending money). Until I can figure the best way to get more space for cheap or free, I'll probably cycle through them on the site. I'll let you know when I post different ones, or updated versions of whats there now. bill |

I said "I guess not, if you call it people will come". Then I woke up. |

Here's an excerpt from the April 2004 Rickey Medlocke interview. Cheers, Randy ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jeb: You are a songwriter and I wonder if you ever miss playing your Blackfoot songs? Rickey: There has been word out that there are petitions trying to get the original band back together. I am hearing they want us to get back together for a tour. They are going to be presented to me and my manager. I tell you, I got quite a rise out of an article that I just did not too long ago where I explained why I thought it was a mistake to put the original band back together again. You have to realize that for me to go back to that and to try to make and create magic again would be hard. We were four guys who were starving and we hit it big. We rode that wave for a long time. Jealousy, frustration and money problems got in the way. It created a lot of feelings that I had no idea were even going on until I met in a room one night with one of the members and he told me how he honestly felt. I told him, “I can’t believe that you are telling me this. As of right now, I won’t ever work with your fu@king ass again.” I meant it as well. On the outside, these people who are filling out these petitions are going around saying, “Rickey just wants to follow in Gary Rossington’s shadow for the rest of his career when he could be playing and singing in Blackfoot.” Dude, let me tell you something: First of all, I would have to totally quit Lynyrd Skynyrd. If you were going to do a Blackfoot reunion and do it right then you would have to get all four guys together and sit in a room and be totally honest with each other. My honesty would come out being flat blunt. Too much whiskey has gone under the bridge. I have forgiven people a long time ago. I have seen things in print that I have supposedly said about other band members that was not nice. There has not been one time that I have not gone totally out there and said that they were three of the most talented guys that I have ever had the pleasure of sharing a stage with. I even said on the DVD that comes on the Vicious Cycle special edition interviews that the greatest accomplishment that I have ever done in my career was being able to share the stage with some of the most incredibly talented musicians that ever walked this earth. I named them right out. If I had any animosity or hate then I would have never done that. I believe those guys in Blackfoot were very, very good musicians and were true to the bone. Their goals were different than my goals. I wanted to never ever drop the ball and never stop being in front of a mass crowd. It has nothing to do with being a rock star. It has to do with being a real musician. A guy asked me to explain Rickey Medlocke in three worlds and I told him: I’m a musician. I love it for the art of it. I love getting on that stage and watching people have a great time. When they are having a great time then I am over the top. If the audience is more laid back then I wonder if I'm not playing as good as I should but I keep trying. Back to the question: In order to do the Blackfoot thing right, you’d have to have a serous meeting. Next, you would have to write material and put out a record. Then you would have to get someone behind the record to put it out and then you would see about touring. People are missing this fact. If you are going to do something then you better do it on a large scale. If you come out on that stage -- you have got to realize that it has been twenty years down the road -- when people see the band it is going to be totally different then how they saw them twenty years ago. If the magic is not there and you fall short then people are going to eat you alive. Jeb: I would say that out of all of them, you have the most to lose in a Blackfoot reunion. I know Jak Spires and I like him. It would be a huge gig for him. On the other hand, you are playing “Freebird” every night to ten thousand people or more. To go back to clubs would be hard. Rickey: Of course it would start in clubs. There is nowhere else for it to start. Honestly, you could go out and get great money one time around. You could tour 4-5 months and make great money but the next time around you had better have a great record out and you better have some success with it or the money goes down. After a while, we are right back where we started. At one time, the four of us had a magic that was unstoppable. People saw us live and were in awe of us. We were a heavy, high energy southern band that many people called the original southern heavy metal group. Jealousy and business problems got in the way. I don’t want to go back to that. Jeb: Is there any sadness over it? I know you and Jak grew up together and to be estranged must be hard. Rickey: We did grow up together but you have to realize that something else has hit close to my heart recently. Jak Spires is now married to my sister. I don’t want to get into family business or any of that but nobody told me that had happened. Nobody called me. I have made mistakes in my life but hopefully I will continue to try to work things out. But, first of all, when you go to marry my sister -- no matter what kind of whiskey has been under the bridge -- come to me and say, “Rickey, I know we have had problems but your sister and I feel this way and we are going to get married. I hope you are alright with it.” Give me a chance to deal with it that way instead of hearing about it from my family members. I am the oldest in my family so it is almost like being the Dad of the family. I got no respect. So now, everyone wants me to get back with Blackfoot! After giving me no respect? There is a lot of whiskey under the bridge, dude. Jeb: You didn’t let Blackfoot die gracefully. You hung in there. Rickey: You have to understand that I loved Jak like a brother. Jak, to me, is an incredible talent. He was and he still is an incredible drummer. I wanted Jak and I to continue the band after Charlie left. He told me different and sent me packing. So, I legally and honestly bought the name. I don’t care what these guys have told you, I have got the papers that can show you everybody’s signature on them. I paid them money -- ten grand apiece, my friend. I have the papers and if anyone wants to see the signatures… People go around saying that I stole the name -- no, that is not what happened. The reality of it is that I bought the name and I have the signatures to prove it. I wanted Jak to go with me but he said no and he chose his own path. I am okay with that. I went to see him in Ann Arbor at a place called the Blind Pig with that Southern Rock All Star thing he has. I watched them play and when they had finished I walked up to him to talk to him and he turned his back on me. When that happened I knew where I stood. I put that life behind me a long time ago. I am a different guy now. I am not the same guy they remember. I have got other friends and I have got other family. I have two careers going and I love it. I stand out there onstage every night and I appreciate everything I have under those spotlights with all those people. I am able to stand out there and play “Freebird,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Simple Man” and “Gimme Three Steps” every night. These fu@king songs are classics. Jeb: You are able to play note perfect solos plus the band lets you jam out and improvise as well. Rickey: Right! I want the Blackfoot guys to do well in life. I want them to do great. They just can’t do it with me. I can’t see stepping backwards. After I did that one article then I read some things on the Skynyrd message board where they were saying that I was going to realize that joining Skynryrd was the biggest mistake of my life. I did not make a mistake. I can tell you that carrying on the way that I have done in my music career with Lynyrd Skynyrd was not a mistake. Jeb: You confessed to me that you love big crowds. After Blackfoot and before Skynryrd there were no big crowds. How the hell did you handle it? Rickey: I believed. Yes, it was difficult. I went back to playing the clubs, the shi+ holes and the bars. Some were great, some were mediocre and some I don’t care to remember. I have to tell you this: It got to the point to where I was walking in clubs with a fu@king pistol in my hand. One of the last shows I did with Blackfoot was in East Liverpool, Ohio. The three band members had gotten into a fight with the fu@king bouncers of the club. The opening band were friends of the bouncers and we had not allowed them to do something. They started a fight with my three guys. I walked out of that club pushing my drummer, who was big guy. I had my nine millimeter pistol in my hand behind his back saying, “If one motherfu@ker puts his hands on me then I am going to blast this son of a bitch.” Now, I got home and I got to thinking about that. I said, “What the fu@k am I doing here?” I knew that I had reached a crossroads. I wondered if this was really going to work out. I kept believing that something would turn around. Oddly and ironically enough, I had lost my Ma. Shorty, my Pa, had already gone in 1982. My Ma succumbed to a massive stroke in 1994. My Ma told me, “Don’t worry. Everything will be turned around and be okay after I am gone.” She kept telling me that while she was in the hospital. She passed in March of ‘94. Immediately, Blackfoot started getting some better gigs. In 1995, I went to this movie premier for Freebird The Movie and then two years later in March of ‘96 I was back in Lynyrd Skynyrd. Think about what I have told you about all of this stuff; I never looked back. I still never look back. I am writing new material. Lynyrd Skynyrd will have another CD to do within the next year to year and a half. I also have new movies on the horizon. I will not take a step back in time just because people keep badgering me and writing stuff about me on the internet. They have no idea what happened behind the scenes. They can get all the petitions they wanted to get. Are there going to be millions of people on the petition? No, it will be several thousand. Well, several thousand people sign a petition, so what? I love those several thousand people but I can’t see stepping back out of Lynyrd Skynyrd and spending a year or more putting something together that I left and that will go away again. People will get frustrated again and that will be it. That is my bottom line. Jeb: I appreciate your honesty. Rickey: What you have to make the fans understand -- no writer has ever been able to do this. What you have to do is to make the fans understand about me is that I have not given up on those three guys or on the Blackfoot fans. I am different now and they have to understand that. I have moved forward in my life and I can’t step backwards. |

Hooked on Bill, checked your stuff out too! atta boy. How did you transfer the cassette tape to the computer? How do you post a song on the internet? Ed, can I post a song on my website? Don't know heck about that stuff. I'd like to post some of our songs for you guys to listen to also. Cool dream, by the way. I told Pat about the one I had where I was taking him to a gig and he took off early, so I went to find him and he was on a boat out in the harbor. I walked across the water to get him, and realizing I was walking on water I expected to plunge into the bay but managed to run across the water back to shore! funny, the subconscious mind . . . When I told him about it at the Coach House, Pat just looked relieved that it wasn't the "other" kind of dream! hahahaha Glad to say I've never had one of those about a feller, revered shredder or not!! Big Ed, I'm shooting for the Algona show but if I get up that way I might hit the wet t-shirt show in Oregon too. Sounds wild alright! Thanks for the sympathies on my former sac, everyone! Sucks not to be able to play, plus the concern about being able to play again! yikes!!! I, like you, managed to get by without breaking anything my first 40 years....been a train wreck since!!! To dump the cassette to the PC, I plug into the line in and record it with "Sonic Foundry Sound Forge". Then I trim as needed, sometimes cut out some miscues and splice it up if it can be done clean. Then save it as an mp3 file. To upload, I use Verizon DSL and you get 10 Mb of webspace, so I use the tools they provide for editing the web page. |

OK - I just got a chance to read fully Randy's Blackfoot post... Ricky makes a good case. Seems like there's a lot of Whiskey under the bridge (whatever that means). And he's right... In many ways it is hard to go back. That's why there is such a thing as divorce (thank God). But IMO there should always be an opening for friends and family... just in case you need them, but more importantly just in case they need you. I knew about Jackson and Rickey's sister but guess I never understood the personal implications and how that effected Ricky. It would be tough to deal with that. But to completely shut the door is absolutley wrong. I'm dissapointed in his unwillingness to even consider the Petitions - afterall I worked hard on them! LOL. That aside. I could not imagine what it would be like to be in on the beginings of two bands like Blackfoot and Skynyrd! Ricky surely was blessed. Personally I would think that I would try like hell to keep those two powerhouses going no matter what it took. Or I'd die trying you could rest assured of that. I'd even venture a guess that for every Skynyrd fan out there there is a Blackfoot fan. I love them both but listen to Blackfoot much more frequently. Recently I can only take two Skynyrd albums, "Second Helping" and "Gimme Back My Bullets" But all of the Blackfoot stuff continues to tweak my intrest even after all of these years... I guess it'll be a whole new Blackfoot comin' down that track. But that'll be OK. I've seen my beloved BÖC go from a full fledged 5 guitar army to 2ÖC with just Buck and Eric as originals to the present day 3ÖC with Buck, Eric and Allan. They sound better than ever and I enjoy the shows now more then ever. If Blackfoot plays they will come.... |

Agreed Ed. I heard about the sis being married to Spires too, but never imagined he was left out of the loop. WOW! I know Rehab had alot to do w/ stuff too, and maybe Ricky's still SO wound up about old emotions (which it certainly sounds like), he's afraid to even cross that bridge. Heck, ya wouldn't go live w/ your ex, even though people thought it would be a nice/cool thing to do. Ya just say thats a part of my past and I'v moved on. And I gotta admit, I have NO desire to see Skynard again. Blackfoot music is like a shot a nitro compared to that "Oh, I like this song....again." I'm makin it sound like I dont like Skynard, I do like them.......LOVE Blackfoot! Now Ed, Call Pat and tell him to hop on that Blackfoot tour (PTB/BLACKFOOT-LIVE) and I can then jump outta my skin and follow a tour and quit my job. I'll sleep in the moving trailer, work for food, polish the guitars, get groupies, etc..............................g |

Godspeed gREG... I was actually going to try and make that trip myself. But I got my weekends all screwed up! I'm just too freakin' busy these days.... Anyways, I was going to go by and kidnap Bruce and Cris and whisk them off the the OLD Cajun House for a Zepagain treat. Then I was going to come home by way Flagstaff. Oh well better luck next time. We're getting jealous out here in SoCal. All these out of state and northern California gigs are making us worry. We do want to share our Zepagain! BTW - How was TNT? |

gREG..........no dates on Blackfoot yet....booking will not commence until October 1st...they have other individual commitments to fill. Dual dates with PT are always possible....they use the same booking agencies so who knows? .....and for all Blackfoot fans that beleive "every" word of the interview posted by Medlocke??? Be careful, I love the man too, love his work and talent but......Jakson Spires has a veiwpoint, so does Greg T. ...so does Charlie.......it would be much more bankable info if all of them could be interviewed together...letting fans ask the questions. You'd probably need a referee though.....there's alot of hurt with all of them. They all just don't get the same air-time Medlocke does. Derringer is playing for me and some freinds tonight, PT kicks ass, Blackfoot is going to tour again and I have a brand new bottle so Crown Royal......life is very good! Peace! |

Hi, I was listening to some PT Makin' Magic at a buddies house and it sounded to me like the song You Don't Love Me has been rerecorded. For some reason, it didn't sound like I remember it. Was different from the album version or were my ears playing tricks on me? |

Hey Randal, Ed, Steve and all you other SoCal "family members".... Any of you remember a band called Riverdogs? Vivian Campbell was on their debut release around his time with Whitesnake and before joining Def Leppard. Anyway, this was a really strong band, but after Vivian left they've just kind of drifted since, but I just found out that the original band has recently been in the studio, have recorded 3 new tracks and will be playing dates in Hollyweird & San Diego in August. Sure wish I could make one of these shows! If any of you make it there, please post a review... All dates are August...Wed 18 @ Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood / Fri 20 @ Brick By Brick in San Diego / Sat 21 @ Lestat in San Diego / Sun 22 @ The Gig in Hollywood. This band rocks...go check 'em out! Jimmy Beseau in Texas...I know yer a Jerry Cantrell fan (don't ask me how I know...nyuk, nyuk, nyuk...) He has a new "super group" of sorts called Cardboard Vampyres (I know...stupid name) and it's Jerry, Billy Duffy (guitarist from The Cult), John Corabi (vocalist that took Vince Neil's place in Motley Crue for awhile, also vocalist for The Scream, The Union (with Bruce Kulick of Kiss on guitars) and the original vocalist for Nikki Sixx's new band Brides of Destruction...Wow...John gets around!) Also has the bassist from The Cult who's name eludes me at the moment. Can't remember the dates but will check it out and post back in a couple of minutes. Also...June is almost over and still no Travers & Appice release yet....Hope this release doesn't get sacked!!! And whatever happened to that damn "HORSE" ????? Randal...I'm considering both the Oregon "Keg Party" and the Algona, WA gig...how about you? And as always...PTB is KING! |

Ok.... I had to interrupt my prevoiusly scheduled programming as I was "informed" that I was going to have to play: Uriah Heep - Demons And Wizards BEFORE I could even consider watching Andy Timmons. I guess I could live with that. That tuned down D on Wizard is AWESOME!!!!!! |

Hooked, I play a black fretless P-bass, a white fretted P-bass that's been out of commission needing to be serviced for a couple of years but which is cool, a sunburst Fender Squire and a Fender acoustic. I keep a Les Paul around the studio in case a player stops by, but I haven't learned a chord. I'd like to have a 5-string Warwick -- never played a 5-string before! I'd also like to have a Rickenbacher, just to say I did. Never played one of them either. I'm self-taught, starting about 12 years ago but fortunately I listened to every bass riff for every song I heard growing up so that helped. I sang in jazz choir in high school (the only long hair) so learned to sing and read music there. |

Thanks, Ed. I talked to my guitarist Tom and he's gonna work on getting the cable we need to record cassettes to the hard drive. Hooked, will try the software you mentioned. Seems to me that once we get that figured out and start using like Pro Tools, we could put some songs together using the PTB family's talents -- Stratmandu, Ed, , Steve Viable, gREG on maraccas, me and Hooked on Bill playing the dueling bass, etc . . . who's the drummer in this outfit?? Maybe Eric would lay down a track, and you guys could do one with Rick. Call the "band" PT Cruiser. |

WOW Fretpig -- Cardboard Vampyres sounds most excellent! Can't wait to hear some -- nah, make it all -- of their stuff. I'm shooting for both gigs. Things are still tight but if I make one I'll do them both. Should be able to rent a car in Portland and drop in Seattle with no charge, as I've done it from Seattle before. I share The Pain of waiting for the new release(s). Saw Rich's post, mildly suggesting that something may be amiss, but he knows what he's doing and what's really going on with Horse so we'll just have to trust him. Regarding T&A -- as we were hanging around with Pat and Carmine at the Coach House right when they were doing those LA sessions, it will be especially cool to me when I hear what they did. And so we wait . . . tick tick tick tick I'm gonna ace-bandage the elbow and give it hell in the studio tonight. Our drummer's doing b-day stuff, so Tom's coming and a friend is bringing his percussion gear (bongos, congas) and a guitar player buddy. It'll be a jam. Anybody in SD, stop by after 7. Hope you're all having a summer weekend! |

Aww...-a-dooty-poo! I missed you both, and just barely missed Cindy (I came about 11 EST..oops.) but I had a nice chat with Dave the admin and Loren. I'll try to remember to get there on time next time, though. Stratman: I am listening to Shawn Lane's "Powers of Ten" for the first time...cool stuff! I can see why you're so high on him. Randalmizer: Hard to believe it's been 3 years since Camp Heinie...we had fun...too bad we missed the best part of the backyard party, we thought for sure Rick & Eric would want to crash, not play, and I had a weeee bit too much tequila to stay awake But we had fun anyways and were able to stay for Pat's set when it looked like we weren't going to be able to...so it's all good. Let's do it again sometime, when your "sac" is better LOL. Ciao, y'all Carl |

Ed, gREG, thanks for the kind words! gREG, nice to see you & Lisa briefly! And thanks for dragging your buds out to the Flagstaff show too. That trip was all about squeezing some sleep in whenever we had some down time! But we had a blast, and all 3 shows were great. Rockpig, I remember the Riverdogs well, I used to play their album a lot! I saw them twice, once when Vivian was still in the band, and once after he'd left. Thanks for the heads up, I will try to catch the Whisky show! So these shows are with Vivian? Cheers! Steve Z |

Hey Steve, The news I saw stated the "original members" had been in the studio & recorded 3 new tracks and were playing a few shows in the L.A. area (possibly between recording schedules??), but it did not specifically mention Vivian... How's THAT for a vague answer??? LOL! Sorry! If you make the Roxy gig, post a review! And as always...PTB is King! |

Congrats TLO and Wendy! Best wishes to you and your new bride! May your marriage live long and prosper!! *************** Steve - My words were not meant to be kind. They are for real dude! Zepagain is WORLD CLASS. See ya Saturday! **************** gREG - Sunday nights are bad for me especially lately. But I wish you guys tons of paticipation on the chat and I'll update the CHAT page here this week to try and help out. I also second your call for a Travers/PinkZeppelin tour!! Built in audience here in SoCal. ***************** Randy - Don't know much about Idaho except that I tried to drive through it as fast as my little red truck would allow me to. But I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was going to drive through Blackfoot. It was a quiant little town. I don't think they even had a Mickey D's there. PS... Randman...that's a great idea! I could do some guitar work as well; the Missus maybe on keys and vocals hahah! I had this vision the other day that would probably take one of us to win the lottery to pull off... a concert featuring all of our bands back to back to back with PT headlining the day!
